This cabinet was made in 1804 and repainted in 1845, probably for a celebration such as a wedding. We wanted to recreate the cabinet as faithfully as possible to the original. The shadow of the original painting was only visible under a magnifying glass.
Thank you you're restorations are important. They show how crafted furniture was made centuries ago and are still usable.
Furniture of today will never last that long.
You're right. Actually, everything should be built in a way that it survives for a long time and can be repaired easily.
Another great restoration - restored to its original beauty.
Thank you. Best wishes!!!!
The original craftsman would be in awe of your artistic restoration of this farmhouse closet. Very impressed.
Thank you for the kind comment. The cabinet was made 180 years ago just 10 km from here. That gives me goosebumps
The cabinet is stunning beautiful, I’m glad it got the restoration it deserved to survive another 200+ years. Your work is precious.
It's so good to hear that there are other people too who have passion for antique furniture. Thank you for watching.
"Experience and dedication always gives the right results" my Mother used to say, but I must add, Passion, gives you excellency. Thank you for showing how with a little of these attributes an 'old' piece of furniture can be brought back to life to become an heirloom. Your great work is much appreciated. Cheers from New York.
I was very happy about your comment. It's nice to know that old Bavarian country furniture is appreciated in New York
@@Restaurierung There's a great tradition of Bavarian Furniture in the US, particularly in the State of Pennsylvania, where a great number of German immigrants stablished themselves at the beginning of the 19th Century. The furniture they created is reminiscent of the old Bavarian styles they left behind. Nowadays those Folk Furniture pieces are some of the most expensive Antiques in the Country. I do appreciate the effort done to bring back the beauty of the old pieces of furniture that you repair. Great work though. Cheers

That's very interesting to hear. I'll do a little research. Thanks very much
I'd love a cupboard like that. Beautiful.
You can have it. It's still for sale. Thank you for your sweet comment.😀
What a beautiful restoration. Tremendous work
Thank you very much for watching my video
I love that you restore to the original design the best you can
Thank you for your kind words
Love the secret shelf. Easy to access in an emergency, but not so easy to detect. The original craftsman was not only an artist, but also clever. Can see that in some of the hardware, too. But of course, we out here in internet land only get to see this because a craftsman a quarter century later is able to restore and make visible the whole piece. Your videos are always an event here, and this is a particularly good one. Neko was all cat for this restoration. You should remind him that he is a dog! Thank you for showing us this work! 🇨🇦💕
That's a very nice comment. I thank you for your sweet words and I'll talk to "Neko".
Beautiful work! And your puppy is so sweet!
Super gute Arbeit ist wunderschönen geworden.
😀😀😀
So beautiful. Thank you for making these videos. I love to watch how these old furniture pieces are restored while keeping that antique look.
Thanks very much. It motivates me to keep going when I know people enjoy the videos.
This is so beautiful! You are a true Artist!
Thank you for your Interest and your friendly words. It makes me happy to see that other people also love old furnitures
Oh my God! A beautiful and great restoration! Congratulations!👏
Thank you for watching my video 🥰
Beautiful indeed
Thanks a lot
What a beauty!
I know you talk about the dog.🤣
Beautiful!
Thank you
Your restorations are truly great I love how you keep them as an antiquity and keep to original techniques and do your best to duplicate the original finish and how you don’t try to improve on it and make it perfect, you allow it to show its age, I think it’s such a shame when people make an antique look like a new piece of furniture I feel that it’s not a true restoration. Also I just adore your dog.
Thank you for your comment. Do you also do restoration? Your name sounds like it.
I've enjoyed watching you work, so far. The video isn't finished yet, but I like what I see. New subscriber 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
I love watching you restore, those beautiful antique pieces… Those are absolutely spectacular… And I’m so jealous of your hardware and key collection… Can’t find that here in the US… those old locks are so unique and beautiful
Outstanding art and project restoration. Your dogspector was a real comfort and a relief from tedious fine work. Bravo!
Yes, the restoration was fun and, as always, my dog was a great help.
Thank you
Das nenne ich mal "Meisterlich!!".
Vielen Dank für ihren netten Kommentar.
What a fantastic restoration, great to watch.

J'aime beaucoup.. Cordialement ..Thierry
You are a very talented man! You are saving history!
Thank you very much for the comment. I hope to be able to restore many more beautiful originals. Even if they are becoming increasingly rare here in Bavaria.
Tolle Arbeit. Vielen Dank fürs Teilen.
Vielen Dank für die aufmunternden Worte
Beautiful work
Thank you
It's beautiful, mate. 😊
Thank you for watching
Fantastic 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you my dear
Muy buen trabajo, mueble salvado. 👌👍🇪🇸🌿
gracias por ver el video
You have an incredible workshop. But you have even more incredible skill! Gratuliere!
Thank you for your motivation
Very skillful work! I would like to know how you stripped the flowers overpainting the original background without hurting the original paint.
I did that with paint stripper. You have to have a bit of experience. You have to consider the exposure time, the temperature, the contact pressure and the type of paint stripper. It's different every time. Unfortunately, sometimes it doesn't work at all
I don't have a large enough vocabulary to properly express how absolutely beautiful your restoration of this is!!!. Thank you so much for sharing it with the rest of mear mortals who dabble in this. Love the video production too...looking for to watch more and picking up on your techniques.
thank you very much for your compliments. It sounds like you also restore antique furniture. If so, show some of your projects. I'm sure it would be interesting.
Best regards
¡Wow! Fue un trabajo maravilloso. Es usted un artista.
Safety glasses at the lathe please! 🙂
Thank you for watching the video.
Absolutely wonderful restoration
Thank you very much
QUE BUENO
Muchas gracias.😄
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
😀😀👍👍
you are a true master and it is clear that you do your restoration work with passion. I have a question, in this and in your other videos I see that in the restoration part of the original painting, you pass a brush to remove the dirt and make the original colors reappear.
What is this solution formed from, maybe turpentine?
It's a different solution each time. Sometimes water, sometimes chemicals. Here it has been stripper. However, you need some experience. You have to take off the exposure time, the temperature, the contact pressure when rubbing, etc. Sometimes it doesn't work at all and the painting is lost.
Meine Hochachtung!
Man braucht allerdings etwas Übung.
I beg your pardon, but the more I look at your work, the more fascinated I am: I have an old painted Tyrolean chest that I am restoring and I am trying not to make any big mistakes.
So I take tips from someone who - like you - is a master!
I ask you if the shellac you pass (before waxing) is diluted with water, in what proportion?
Do you think I can do the same on the painted parts of my chest (after cleaning them)?
Does it give gloss and protection?
Thank you for your attention
The shellac is only used to fix the painting. Dissolve the shellac with alcohol. Ethanol works too. The mixing ratio is a matter of experience. Try a 1:1 mix on a test board with an painting on it. The shellac must be purified shellac. Otherwise the painting will be changed in color tone. The shellac gives no shine. When dry, it's almost invisible.
@@Restaurierung .
Always invaluable your advice.
Thank you very much
Restauratorische Kunstfertigkeit vom Feinsten.
