Holland Offroad - Bourtange

Do you plan to visit the Netherlands? Be welcome. Want to see some of our country in advance? In this video I take you to Bourtange, a fortified vilage in the northeast of the Netherlands.
The fortress was built at the end of the sixteenth century. It had to defend Holland against invaders from the east. Everything in Bourtange breathes history. You see the ramparts and the moat. The narrow streets that all lead to the central square. You see how soldiers lived in the barracks. Also the house of the captain. Every year in the summer a battle is re-enacted in Bourtange. From much later in history is the synagogue and the living room of a Jewish family. That did not come back from the gas chambers of World War II.
