Thank you! This was the first time in my life (78 years) that I realized a nylon washer was to go inside the pipe as well as on the outside which explains why it leaked every time in the past unless I used a lot of plumbers tape. I put it on as you said and it worked perfectly the first time. I thank you for that and God that I had the sense to watch you video first.
The instructions that came with the Kingston fixtures I bought are terrible. Having never installed one of these before, I wanted to be sure everything was done properly. Thankfully the pop-up is virtually identical to this one. Video saved the day. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. It was a great help to me. ____________________________________________ A note to the amateur plumbers of the world - DO NOT put plumber's putty on the threads. That is what TEFLON TAPE is for.
THANK YOU! I bought a very similar model from Master Plumber and the extra rubber washer had me befuddled, angry and anxiety-ridden. It was hilarious to hear that it is included but you haven't found a sink that it is appliable for. Regardless, this was a great video visually and explanation-wise for a general entry level homeowner. I will gladly buy a Symmons product in the future.
Good video. I was wondering whether the drain assembly and strainer need to be the same brand as the faucet in order for them to be compatible. Thanks.
I have the same unit I need to put on. My only concern is that you don't need to tighten the tailpiece with a tool? If you only hand tighten it will water leak out? Water is powerful.
The tailpiece is what’s known as a “scratch-thread tailpiece”, and it uses very fine threads that screw into the bottom of the pop-up assembly. Using tools like pliers is not recommended because it can damage the shape of the tailpiece and cause leaks. The best method is to put the thread seal tape on the threads, then screw it in as tight as it will go by hand. Dry your hands thoroughly first to get a better grip. If you want to use a strap wrench just to be sure, that’s fine, but don’t overtighten it. In regard to leaks, there’s no pressure on that section of the drainage piping unless the waste line is clogged, in which case you have bigger problems. ;D
Seriously? That's how the spring clip is held on? I'm missing something because mine does not stay. Just looking at yours, i dont know how that thing stays either
Sometimes you can bend a spring clip to make it grip a little better. Alternatively, I've seen folks add a rubber grommet to the end of the pivot rod after adding the clip to help it stay in place. Hope this helps
This is the best video on installing a drain i have seen Thank you .I just got a new one like the one you installed but i think i am going to use the washer you put away as that was what was on the drain i removed. Consider a like a subscribe coming your way.
No, you don’t need to turn the water off when you’re installing the drain assembly--just be sure you don’t accidentally turn the faucet on until you’re done or you’re gonna get wet. An old trick is to throw a towel over the faucet to remind yourself not to turn it on.
Ok I know exactly what I have to do, but unfortunately my pop-up assembly is pointed to the rear of the cabinet it is under the vanity. There isn't enough room to get in there and get a nice easy view like you have. Getting a bit maddening. Tried it with a hand mirror and flashlight but still really doesn't work!
We would suggest backing off the nut a little, making sure the beveled washer and flat washer are aligned properly, then retightening. You do not want to overtighten it!

The advice to get rid of the black plastic washer really messed up my install. Guess what?! On some sinks they are needed! 🤬 Terrible advice, definitely look elsewhere if you need you tube plumbing help. 👎👎👎👎👎
This has got to be the best, most clear tutorial ever.
I'll remember your name, Symmons industries.

Thank you for the directions. Can I buy only the pop up rod and ball assembly piece?
Hi Patrice! The pop up or lift rod is going to be specific to each faucet; the ball rod is available alone as a part number P-112N.
@@SymmonsIndustries Thank you I will try to locate it!
