They didn't tone it down, they just never toned it up. 302hp at the crank is about 235-245hp at the rear wheel, lots of drivetrain power loss but an aftermarket tune really wakes the car up. Now it should of came with the same motor as the 03/04 Supercharged Cobra.
The Marauder VT was modified by VT engine for an ungodly amount. Slap on a Trilogy Eaton Blower kit and some other bolt-ons and can easily have a 450rwhp high 11 sec 4400 lb car that is streetable.
@MrNotorius5500 More power to you! Having a car in FL helps since it's less likely to rust compared to vehicles up north that drive in winter time with salt.
@cmaxO123 Mercury is to Ford as Buick is to GM. Those are two comparable brands. FMC (Ford Motor Company) made both the Ford Comet and Mercury Maverick where as Ford and Mazda did several joint ventures: ie Ford Ranger/Mazda B2200, Ford Probe/Mazda MX-6, new gen Ford Focus/Mazda 3, Ford Fusion/Mazda 6, Ford Edge/Mazda CX-9. Ford also ventured with Nissan with the Mercury Villager/Nissan Quest.
Avg hp for an 03-04 Marauder? They only made them those two years. Stock @ the flywheel 302hp 318tq for both years and stock @ the rear wheels is around 235-245. Marauder and Impala in stock form are pretty evenly matched with the Marauder slight a tad faster in 0-60 and 1/4 mile.
@alexnatick i Believe the 2003,2004 Marauders were discontinued because of sales that were way below expected....on top of that now Mercury itself is no more. the market for Good Ol American Vehicles is Shrinking because of imports....and im not against imports but thats not Fair!
I'd take a CTS-V also and use it as my daily driver lol. It's comparing apples and oranges between the two cars especially since the Marauder is no longer being made.
Wrong time to bring it to market. It was meant to compete with the 1994-1996 Chevy Impala SS, marketed to the wrong group of people, lacking power (if it came the way it does after being tuned it would of made a big difference). Too late in the game, not enough to back the hype and costly at first. The less they made the more mine is worth is the way I think about it. lol
@kennedythegreatful If you still got the SS then you'll have the best of both worlds with also having a Marauder as well. Only problem will be trying to decide which one to take out. lol
@kennedythegreatful good luck finding one and when you do it will cost you a arm and a leg,,,,they only made a small number of marauder's ,,,,i wish i had the money to get one,,,,
I'm gonna make my Marauder last forever. I figure if that lady in Florida can keep her 1964 Caliente Mercury Comet cherry for over 45 years, whats to say I can't do the same?
The car weighs over two tons and it has a small block...not good. I think they should find some way to make it lighter, bump the engine up to at least a 302 (5.0), maybe give it a manual option, but keep the looks the same. 2009 Marauder...that would be something to look forward to! I love this car.
@ASKx4x10THxPRESTIGE The Maruader would be your best choice for long term investment considering there is a lot less of them on the road then a charger srt8. Maruaders were limited edition production models dodge is still producing the charger srt8 so there for the value of them long term won't be nearly as much to collectors then the Maruader is.
Yeah, you're right, I must agree, in appearance..hands down, Chevy...is EASIER on the eyes. But, something a little similar to these 2 rides is a Jaguar XJ-8 Vanden Plas (large 4 door car as well)It may not have the Rocket-Launch-Effect, unless you opt for the "XJR" package, however, on the interstate, the VERY LARGE Jaguar Vanden Plas (STOCK) will eat them BOTH (crown vic/Chevy) ALIVE! and Exceptional looks to go with that. Jaguar, another FORD PRODUCT, In the sedan race,FORD REMAINS top.
@camouflagecamaro99 lol I have no clue how you get that. Lincoln is Ford's top luxury division and Cadillac is GM's top luxury division. Buick has always made a nice mid-level luxury car, Mercury kind of slacked on that dept but gave a luxury look more than Ford's comparable models.
There is no difference between a Mustang GT 4.6L sohc and the CVPI 4.6L sohc engine. It's different tuning, air inlet design and some other small things. The Marauder has a Mach 1/early Cobra 4.6L DOHC engine. Marauder 302hp/318tq, CVPI 250hp/287tq, yeah you figure which is better.
How can you make a valid comparison? First of all the Caddy is a newer iteration and the Marauder has been put to pasture by Mercury - and most of all the Marauder was around $30K in its day while the Caddy is pushing $60K - duhhh
SS boys gonna say ''i got beat By a 2004 marauder in my 1995 SS'' how the fuck can u even compare em....its like bragging that u beat a 1990 mustang in a 2000 camaro
i dont get it y would they sop making them if everybody loved them now the o7 marquis r nice but they r made for older pple i own a 97 towncar and it has a 4.6 liter v8 and its badass i just wish they kept making the marauders
@vdean2010 innovativeinterceptors. com might be a place to start... if you own a Marauder, you should really join mercury marauder. net because I'm sure the members there will have advice for you.
Nice, but THE American sedan to own is the 300C SRT8! It's faster than either the Mercury, or the Chevy, and its BY FAR the best looking of the 3 cars. Hey, it's just MY opinion.
why the fuck are u comparing a 2004 marauder to a fuckin 96 impala? Dont u think mercury was a little late to put out a car to ''compete'' with the SS? Give it a fuckin rest this isnt a contest the marauder is a car on its own and thats it.
A Black Marauder is just wicked looking.
They're hard as hell to come by, and I never did knew they made a commercial for this car, since it had such a "short run".
Are u still alive?????😔

Almost everyone I know that had one super charged it anyways...
How I love the Cougar, Grand Marquis, Marauder and Sable from Mercury.
The Marauder is a badass. however you look at it. also check out the Taurus SHO. That was one you could definitly make a sleeper
I'd rock either one of them but still wouldn't give up my Marauder. Limited production, 6 years old and still turns heads.
The Marauder VT was modified by VT engine for an ungodly amount. Slap on a Trilogy Eaton Blower kit and some other bolt-ons and can easily have a 450rwhp high 11 sec 4400 lb car that is streetable.
VERY ADORABLE & CLEVER, AAAAAAAW! I GOT THOSE MERCURY BLUES!
@MrNotorius5500
More power to you! Having a car in FL helps since it's less likely to rust compared to vehicles up north that drive in winter time with salt.
Im a chevy guy and own an 96 impala ss,
but i still love & respect the marauder!
US GM,FORD & MOPAR GUYS SHOULD ALL UNITE... AND SAY FUCK IMPORTS!!
lmao the other cars scooted away from the marauder... very badass car
@cmaxO123 Mercury is to Ford as Buick is to GM. Those are two comparable brands. Agreed!!! I totally agree!!! Imports can all be scrapped and used to make our cars!
grand nationals 95/96 impalas and mercury marauder are going to vaule a lot in the future
@Mrblacktop87 Yep, which is why it only came in Black to start out with but there was a demand for other colors.

They're sleek and black, I wish my marquis was a marauder.
I have the Maroon & gray one ;) loving them marauders!!!
They didnt make a gray. You poser.

@@MayraCln Lol "Maroon" no one calls it that. If your a real one what do most people call it?
Everyday more and more younger people are buying them.

there is like one in my state for sale on the internet. Damn there so rare.
i cant wait til mine comes out of hibernation!

@bkusek it would have passed, the same engine was still used in the aviator in 2005.
They made a commercial for these cars? They were supposed to play it more often. They'd've sold more of them,if they had.
Imports should not even be aloud in our country. The key phrase there is " our country".
I'd take a CTS-V also and use it as my daily driver lol. It's comparing apples and oranges between the two cars especially since the Marauder is no longer being made.

I agree but vice versa with the Impala SS, I love both but I had a better deal with getting a Marauder. Still wish I was able to own both!
The car weighs over two tons and it has a small block...not good. @89kirk
No they only made them from 2003 to 2004.
Rifleman! Are you Crazy!? We can never do that! The parts aren't good enough!
@form109 they stopped making them because they were/are faster then police cars.
lol u know the marauder has the 2003-2004 mach 1 engine right? just with out the shaker hood scoop
Awesome
good commercial!

Oh thought this was a commercial for the south African marauder... rather different car... this thing can't even crush smaller cars.
Its a late Cobra N/A engine (aka Mach 1). Quite a bit different from a 96-98 cobra motor, not least of all the casting is completely different.
The 2003 Infiniti M45 has 340 Horsepower!!
ok and

Aww let me guess you drive an Impala SS right? Bigger motor has bigger output. For a 4.6L 302hp isn't bad.
