1. What's your first favourite? 2. Agree, a lot of people rate this as the hardest of the nocturnes, I play it too and I've been practising the Doppio Movimento for 3 years and still have much room for improvement. However, it's so rewarding

I have such a bad memory - this easy for me to play, but remembering all of the left hand is rly an issue - 24 years playing out 28 alive and I still don’t read sheets lmao
@EmmanuelttPianoI have it up to 4:05 now, I am mostly trying to get (untrained vocab, besides DAW production and not being unintelligent, especially verbally overall) my cadences down with this one - I really love how Martha plays it, although I know she rushes the intro a bit, it’s hard to tell if she got the sort of softness it needs- I think so, at least mostly - in any event I’m practicing from memory / along w her performance of it -while shying from the rest I guess. It’s so fun to play - comfortable enough compared to other Chopin stuff I’ve learned- Satie I find the more I play, the less I understand what I previously understood- Chopin I learn to play more expressively the more I play, which also can deviate into drawbacks prob but not so far..Idk, I’m stoned asl rn I find w most Chopin songs (esp w the left) you have to get comfortable w a awkward af pattern - and then, learn a fast descending part in the right - two almost certain Chopin piece moments

This whole Nocturne is hard at all parts. The first main theme section isn't technically difficult but musically harder than initially seems. The chorale of the chords is hard to make it sound nice and even with the pinky having the melody, and some of those non-arpegiatted chords are 10ths(as written in the score), which are hard for pianists with smaller hands(like me who spans 9th and only 10th with extreme stretching T_T) The attack of the octaves with those fast in between melody chords is no doubt challenging to play fast because, well, fast octaves in both hands. Lastly the Doppio Movimento recapitulation of the main theme is the most difficult part to play. Playing those fast parallel 5th/6ths/octaves in the left hand together with the right hand chords which must be kept soft to allow the right pinky and fourth, the two weakest fingers, to sing the melody and maintain a nice-sounding tone with good dynamics is so, so hard. Chopin was a genius for combining all these elements to create a masterpiece of the night which speaks of so much anguish and grief. I wonder how heavy his heart felt when he wrote this.
With the sustain pedal, first Do with you Pinkie, then when the left hand finished it's chords and while right hand is playing, hit the last note with your left hand ;)

first step : Be Rachmaninoff
They are called arpeggiated chords also called rolled chords.
You need 11 fingers for the chord at 2:40 hahaha
LOL
No, its not a chord its an arpeggio, you dont need big hands to play it
@@santiagoo5953 they are actually rolled chords also called arpeggiated chords.
You have to use the sustain pedal
Haha, a good video reference on how to play this is TraumPiano 's interpretation, his synthesia playing shows how he does it and it sounds really nice
2:31 whaaaaaaaaaaaat
hard to learn harder to interpret.
Hi, how in hell do you reach certain chords? you got 3 hands? great video btw
its possible with sustain pedal
Maybe it's mostly 5 "4 for the base and 3,2 or maybe one finger for two notes
