"We are never ready for history" should be the Florida state motto.
😂😂😂😂 dead right and funny as hell
The only history that matters is the history that we make.
They'd have to change it from (fingers in ears) LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
More like California (I’m not even a Republican)
In the USA history teaching is very light, more like story telling.
Patton Oswalt and Stephen Colbert together. The amount of nerd knowledge on that stage is staggering.
LOUSY CONSISTENTLY
Yea that useless information is practically seeping out of their pores.
I really want these two together in the Untitled Sony Pictures Animation movie along with Paul Rudd, Reese Witherspoon, Seth Rogen, Will Arnett, and Kiefer Sutherland.
"It's not too late to be fired, Patton." What a line!
the most frightening and yet endearing thing to say in that kind of sitch XD
Starting into a lousy, stressful day at work - but hey, gonna watch this to have One good thing in my day today. Patton - always a gem.
In the same boat here. Everything is going to work out, it just may take some time to get to that place.
Really? I find him so lame and douchy that it Burns my ears to hear him talk...what was that shit about america is the only country in the World which is open to the concept of change and that the country is never finished? What is that supposed to mean? Does greek think oh we peaked centuries ago lets call it a day and Stay like we are forever? His empty words make no sense to me, if at least he would be funny but no he cant even Do that because he thinks is some cool dude so he does not play the only character role that fits him...she big boned loser that cant get it together from King of queens. He reminds me of Leonard for big bang, but Patton isnt smart, he just likes to think he can pretend to be. I have to brush my teeth now, this guy always leaves a bad Taste in my mouth. God i hate that Pudding of a man.
Hope your day is turning out better than expected. 🙂
im sorry to hear that, I hope that your day, week, and life suddenly start to become better than you ever expected.
Great actor, great comedian, and a very interesting and intelligent human. Love Patton! ❤️
Thanks Jason Alexander for giving us Patton Oswalt!
Man, people like him have the best things to say that nobody listens to. History is always watching
I'm just excited that he quoted Darby Crash.
Seriously, right? I'm like, "Oh sh!t, he knows. I see you Patton!"
First he lived right outside DC with minor threat and bad brains going on and then he moves to LA a decade too late for the germs, i still envy being that close though to that
This man just quoted Darby Crash. I am in love. What a mind on this guy. Thank whatever gods there are for Patton Oswalt!!!
Casually slipping that quote in mid-interview was the icing on my Patton Oswalt love cake! 🎂
I was just thinking about that fact , formulating in my mind what to write. Indeed, what a mind he has.
Probably the first time Darby Crash has been quoted in 40 years ( on national TV no less ).
Right? As if I couldn’t have loved him more. Mind blown.
Patton is a national treasure! I love everything he’s in.
I'm diggin' Patton's Astro Boy hair. Let's Rocket!
😂🤙🏼
Patton, I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that you have done, from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty to King of Queens to your standup. I also appreciate your bereavement words. I lost my wife and your words of healing and peace meant a lot to me. Thank you.
EDIT: Oh, and your Star Wars filibuster on Parks and Recreation was sensational! Well done.
Secret life of Walter Mitty really is an amazing and underrated film
In my opinion, Patton should have been nominated for an Emmy for his Work on "Justified" he was perfect for the part and he Totally Nailed It.
Congratulations, Patton on reaching 3 decades of performing! You rock!🤘🏻
One of the best standups in America. Love Patton!
Didn't mind him till he talked crap about chappelle. Excuse my spelling.
@@antonvrb1510Chapelle says a lot of dumb 💩 so Patton is right to have his opinion about him
@@nevamore1984 True. It just didn't sit right with me and that's just my opinion.
HAHAHAHAHA... Surely you Jest !!! 🤣😂
I respect Patton's dedication to the fauxhawk
I love Patton. Happy to see all his success.
The way two comedians play off each other its awesome, two class acts here!
I saw Patton do standup probably about 20 years ago (GW Bush was president at the time), and a couple of people in the audience obviously got offended and walked out when he started to do a bit where he was ragging on the religious right. I guess they were expecting the “King of Queens” guy to be “family-friendly”
You mean the “party of free speech”?
People who use terms like snowflake and complain about cancel culture can't handle a comedy show 😂
Those same people clutched their pearls to death going to see Bob Saget.
This man is a pure treasure it was great to see him again 💙
Patton's experience on Sienfeld sounds like the original "these pretzels are making me thirsty"
"...A Doctor From Detroit..."
Comedy Gold
Should have said "motor city physician."
I'd never heard of "Detroit Doctor" before and I've been a fan of Aykroyd since the '70s. Maybe it's that rock I've been living under? I tweaked on it because I know he's not _from_ Detroit, so it had to be something he was in.
@@likebot. Dan Aykroyd played the part of a professor who posed as a pimp called 'Dr. Detroit' in the movie "Dr. Detroit."
Patton did one of the best filibusters ever
Yes. He. Did!!
And pretty much completely improvised.
I honestly would watch that movie. Far better than a lot of what Disney's been putting out recently.
He was great on Parks lol
We love patton oswalt
Love Patton!!
I love when actors share those transitional moments in their career, in this case, it was his first acting gig on a sitcom with only one line!
Kudos Patton's references! Germs Darby Crash, Dan Ackroyd....Doctor Detroit, Blues Brother, Ghostbusters Bass-O-Matic, Leonard Pinth-Garnell.
Patton Oswald and Rachel Dratch as his girl friend were hilarious!
❤ the chemistry between these two.
His stand up.is second to none. Love Patton ❤ Ghostbusters looks great.
LOVE HIM!!! and of course he drops some of the most obscure Akroyd references, sending all of us to google them.
* chefs kiss *
I remember something really early from Aykroyd that even these two wouldn't recall. On a little known show called _Coming up Rosie_ Dan played a door-to-door door salesman.
Patton is the best and so so funny.😂
At 3:20 I was expecting "CERVEZA CRISTAL!" 🍺
Patton is so great. If you haven't seen A.P. Bio - watch it!!!! He is so lovable in it, it's another layer of his brilliance. Plus a hilarious show!!
"King of Queens, King of Queens!" From his standup bit.
I can't fathom what it's like to be praised by an idol. Congrats! Mmm. Your comedy goes down like a delicious bass smoothie.
Bass smoothie with a little Shimmer floor wax on it. Yum!
IT’S A FLOOR WAX AND A DESSERT TOPPING 🎉
Patton so great as Constable Bob
Praying he gets to reprise his role as Constable Bob Sweeney in Justified. "People underestimate Bob at their peril."
Great actor
30 years the pearl anniversary. How apt, much like a pearl roles 30 years from his debut role and 30 years of de butt roles.😊
Every time, he kills it. Call him Lee Harvey Patton Oswalt.
A Darby Crash reference. God, I knew I loved you Patton.
I can’t believe someone remembers Doctor Detroit!
Really? It's a hilarious movie.
I love how Ratatouille has become so ubiquitous that it's become one of Patton Oswalt's most iconic roles. Kinda like how everyone knows Patrick Warburton from The Emperor's New Groove.
Loved him on "King of Queens." The entire cast was flawless. Up there with Seinfeld.
Yes ! I actually said this exact thing yesterday! I love that show & you knew that every scene with Oswalt was going to be really good. He’s a fantastic actor.
Here to mention Patton’s excellent double (or more?) role in Marvel Agents of Shield.
He was sat next to me at a cinema in London recently. Let me take a selfie with him and Edgar Wright. Cool guy! Looking forward to Manhunt
"History is always about eight or nine steps ahead of us." -- Patton Oswalt
But it does not just happen naturally. To move toward that more perfect union takes work, blood and sweat and a commitment to education and civil rights and care.
Patton Oswalt whooohoo!
Loved his work in "Happy" so much
Can’t wait to see GB!
Oooohhhh! I am really looking forward to Manhunt. I taught history and am glad they are doing this.
Concur that history always blindsides us and we are always trying to catch up with it. And I agree we are always in the process of pursuing a "more perfect union" and that's what makes us great despite our flaws. Well said!
The Pride of Sterling Park
Patton is a bonafide badass. Love listening to that guy. Cool interview. 😎🤘
Patton listened to Godspeed You Black Emperor in 2001 and is finishing his art school project finally
“Leonard Pinth Garnell” 😂 That one’s going to send me back to the archives!
Patton should be on weekly - they'd never run out of things to talk about ❤️❤️
Stephen : “You know a lot of great sci-fi and fantasy franchises that have come down the pike, you are now part of one of the greatest of all time. “
Patton : 😳 “have I been cast in in Star Wars?!?”
Stephen : “Ghostbusters…”
Patton : (oh) “yesss”
Patton as Ratatouille totally awesome
Oh my gosh! I love Manhunt the book. I read it like 18 years ago. So excited it’s being made into a series.
A great vision is a vision you never reach, but you are always working towards.
That was a flawless Jason Alexander impression.
Well said, Patton❤
Patton is digging DEEP on the ancient ways of Our People with Dan Aykroyd's SNL bits. And I am definitely here for it.
That was a fire intro by the band
2 great Patton bits:
1. Parks and Recreation when he filibusters the meeting.
2. The larp nerd on Reno 911.. "You can't catch me! I'M WEARING BOOTS OF ESCAPING!"
you're welcome.
Two S tier nerds comparing notes. Absolute fun!
Coming from a broke New Yorker in my forties, I saw Patton go into a restaurant on 17th Street on Leap Day, a couple weeks ago, and, sir, you looked perfectly at home here. New York would love to have you.
A Darby Crash quote on Late night; Pattton, I will love you until the end of time.
His comedy special “Finest Hour” is perfect
So many actors were on that show that got big later it's crazy
I love that Patton and I both love Leonard Pinth Garnell
I’ve seen him live 4 times and love his weird brilliance.
I absolutely worship at the altar of Patton Oswalt
Darby Crash Quote, sick AF! 💯🔥🤘🤘
I loved that so much: I'm going to quote Derby Crash, from the Germs
No one mentions his turn on Justified. He made that season, for me.
“Safdie brothers, if you’re watching, give us a call.”
I can totally see it now:
“A24 presents: Death Game. Starring Patton Oswalt, Brigitte Nielsen and Gérard Depardieu as the Ghost.”
Patton for president
Patton Oswalt found his way into my heart (again -- but it's the first time since United States Of Tara) when he references Darby Crash here.
Legend
He’s just so funny. 😂
Patton Oswalt... loved you " The Agents of Shield"
I love that he dropped Darby crash name and the Germs
Germs reference? Somewhere Pat Smear is smiling, but then again Pat is always smiling.
The Seinfeld episode in question, "The Couch" also had some foreboding. Elaine's story involves her coercing her date into revealing his stance on abortion, to which he replied "someday, we'll get enough people on the Supreme Court to change that law."
Ooh. I watched a lot of Seinfeld but don't remember that one about abortion. Did we laugh because that seemed so impossible?
@@user-zb7uh2ob1r
Unfortunately, yes.
I really want to see a LOTR lore fight between Stephen and Patton. 😆
I was just rewatching Down Periscope where he has a small part in
That's exactly what I feel like about NYC:) thanks, Patton
Possibly my favorite of all time, maybe only recently replaced by James Acaster. THEY'RE BOTH IN FROZEN EMPIRE! I feel like you're TEARING ME APART, PATTON!!!
Class act Pat
Leave it to Patton Oswalt to name drop Darby Crash and the Germs while describing America in a positive light on Colbert, lol. Love it!
That's funny. His line in Seinfeld always stood out to me. He delivered it like a question and a statement.
Excellent
Quick weird fact? A long long time I lived in a little city next to Andrews AFB called Clinton, but, it was called Surrattsville before that. Legend has it there was a building there that Wilkes stayed. It was a scary legend and my sister and her friends had a slumber party where they tried to call Mary Surratt's ghost with a oiuja board and they scared themselves screaming all over the house. lol Good times....
Patton Oswalt just got phenomenological on all our asses.
So is Patton doing a fully dramatic role in "Manhunt"? He's done plenty of roles that had a lot of drama but there was always a comedic wink like in the clip shown.
8:00 elevator pitch- Oswalt barefoot playing backgammon with a ghost. I’d love to see that movie.
Germs shoutout. Didn't ever expect that on late night anywhere.
