Now there are cases of riot police being used to assist in the aims of the government, hell, using the same example, when Adolf got out of jail and wrote his book (Germany was in it's golden age at the time until 1929 when it crashed down due to the Wall Street Crash), and then took power through political means, he then used the police to impress authority. But thanks to those 130 officers at the time; they managed to put the dictatorship on hold for a while longer. Overall, you would be able to tell when the police are acting out of order. There are 'corrupt cops' sure, but there are also 'corrupt protesters', both of which seek to profit from their position and don't care about the end goal. To label an entire group of individuals who's duty is to protect and serve as foul, (I saw some comments saying 1 in 100 cops are good. Are you kidding me? I was at sick kids hospital while this was going down. The ventilation system in the building closed to the outside in case any irritants made there way inside. My parents also needed a police escort to actually enter the building. There were people there specifically to destroy property and cause chaos. Even at a young age I could tell most of the people were the ones considered "odd" in school. In my entire lifetime this is the only protest I can think of that got out of hand, the scale of the event had drawn people from all across Canada and America. These people didn't help clean up the mess, or donate to those who had suffered. They were just anarchists who saw an opportunity and took it. That's the idea- all riot gear is psychologically designed to "dehumanize" the officers- the fact is, there'll almost never be more officers than protesters, so the force needs to make up for it both physically and psychologically. Moreover, there's a difference between surveillance for breakers and interceptions at need and anti-riot police there to stop the protest, but I do agree that they're there for that reason.

KaiserlicheDeutsch I respect your opinion but I still think riot cops can be deployed unnecessarily and this starts fights because they're geared up for war and are often sent to peaceful protests, also ive seen several incidents where riot police have used their weapons poorly or unnecesarily, e.g. on youtube there's a video (I think from the G20 riots) and one protester is hit in the head with a gas cannister and several others try to lift him up and out of the area, and one riot cop sees the group lifting him up and flashbangs them.

I was at sick kids hospital while this was going down. The ventilation system in the building closed to the outside in case any irritants made there way inside. My parents also needed a police escort to actually enter the building. There were people there specifically to destroy property and cause chaos. Even at a young age I could tell most of the people were the ones considered "odd" in school.
In my entire lifetime this is the only protest I can think of that got out of hand, the scale of the event had drawn people from all across Canada and America. These people didn't help clean up the mess, or donate to those who had suffered. They were just anarchists who saw an opportunity and took it.
It was amazing seeing so many people outwardly condemn the destructive behaviour and come together in the following days. I still remember the viral clip of looters in an Apple Store being stopped by a local who threw the stolen goods back into the store after stopping a thief. I like to believe that man represents the majority of torontoians. However naive that sounds.

That's the idea- all riot gear is psychologically designed to "dehumanize" the officers- the fact is, there'll almost never be more officers than protesters, so the force needs to make up for it both physically and psychologically. If the protesters get the feeling of powerlessness against a mass of faceless clones, then faceless clones the police will be. Its actually quite smart.

Moreover, there's a difference between surveillance for breakers and interceptions at need and anti-riot police there to stop the protest, but I do agree that they're there for that reason.

KaiserlicheDeutsch I respect your opinion but I still think riot cops can be deployed unnecessarily and this starts fights because they're geared up for war and are often sent to peaceful protests, also ive seen several incidents where riot police have used their weapons poorly or unnecesarily, e.g. on youtube there's a video (I think from the G20 riots) and one protester is hit in the head with a gas cannister and several others try to lift him up and out of the area, and one riot cop sees the group lifting him up and flashbangs them.
