This is widely considered to be the best live performance of any song ever recorded, and it'd get my vote. No auto-tune, no production tricks, just a supremely gifted singer doing his best for his mom in the audience.
There are people who still value being true to one love. It's worth going for. And it's less about finding the right person as being the right person. The most important ingredient in a successful marriage is commitment.
Remember... This is live.. No fiddling with voice or music... pure unadulterated... Stop ... stopping... let it go... Give your comments at the end... Love you man.. Good Luck!
You made me tear up about how you described there not being this type of longing in your generation. I hope this changes for you. You seem like a beautiful soul and deserve to feel this kind of love.
There were two Righteous Brothers - Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley. I’m 70 so I remember their songs well. You’ve lost that lovin’ feeling, Unchained… 🥰
I love seeing young men like yourself finding inspiration in good music. This song transcends the times. And you CAN have the same influence as this today you just have to decided to be that young man. Keep up the good work. You should listen to their song " Lost That Loving Feeling" to see both the Righteous Brothers sing another love song together.
The late great Bobby Hatfield! He owns this song, and no one sang it like he did. I was 15 years old when I watched him sing this beautiful song on the Andy Williams show in 1965. No auto tunes. Pure raw talent!!! RIP Bobby! 💖
I am glad you are watching. This is how it was. Motown and this type of music was on the same radio station. Women still love this music and being sung to. Try it.
You are hearing great vocal because we did not have fancy electronics or computer aids. You had to really be able to SING back then or you couldn't make it. You are right, that's what we "old heads" listen for in today's music. We don't hear it so new music is hard for us to appreciate.
This “ old head” (68 years old) thoroughly enjoyed seeing your reaction, & thank you for being open to the music we enjoyed while growing up. Anxious to see you experience the music of the 70s next!
i grew up in the '60s,listen to Janis Joplin,Jimi Hendrix, the Doors,Pink Floyd. All this music changed my life and in the blink of an eye i'm 71 years old!!! But im still just me and still listening to music every day.Oh yeah watch the Eagles Farewell Tour in Melbourn,Australia, sorry if thats misspelled, hey im old!!!! I really enjoyed you.Live every second of your life because you're right : it goes by fast,so follow your heart and enjoy the ride
Time goes by so slowly and time can do so much. Remember the context. This was sung by a prison inmate (played by Robert Todd Duncan) in the 1954 movie "Unchained."
Thanks for listening to this beautiful song sung by Bobby Hatfield. This has been considered the best live performance of all time and was called blue eyed soul. Bobby Hatfield was an amazing talent. RIP Bobby.❤️
Time did pass at a much slower pace back then. The digital age was a very long way off and seemed more like science fiction than a real possiblity. I was a junior in high school and back then there were dances held every weekend at various venues for the teens. There was no need for police to be there because we didn't have a drug, wepons, or violence problem in the high schools at that time. Most of us had to be home at a certain time anyway. We could count on this song being played at every dance. I was 17 then. I'm 75 now and I still remember how whenever this Righteous Brothers song was played it almost made you fall in love as you were dancing. Thank you for reacting to it.
Okay to be fair I haven't watched your reaction yet but from a 44 year old mom of 2 boys I gotta say I am sooo happy you are watching this.... I love this version and seeing young fellas watching good music makes me smile :)
There's a video out there where Andy Williams chats & jokes with both of the Righteous Brothers after they sang together but b4 Bobby Hatfield does this solo. It explains a few things like how they chose the name Righteous Brothers. Bobby had a cold, extreme stage fright & his mom was sitting behind Bobby hearing him sing professional for the 1st time. You would never know by the ease of his live performance. The recording of Unchained Melody was also used in the movie "Ghost" 25 yrs later & it became a hit all over again. I hope you hear & react to the amazing voices of both brothers (not related and Bill Medley is the baritone) in the videos of "You Lost That Loving Feeling", "Soul and Inspiration" and "You'll Never Walk Alone". You will know why their talent & songs have stood the test of time. Good reaction & I subscribed.
I love that you are going way back for so many of your reviews. It's good to see some of the foundations and see how things progress and what the influences have been.
Yes, the melody is lovely, bordering on the ethereal; however, the lyrics convey an equally touching set of important ideas of togetherness. Nice pick!
RE: Your comment about time going by fast. You have to understand this song was written for a 1955 movie called "Unchained," which was about a guy in prison, counting down the days to the end of his long sentence, as he contemplated whether he could wait it out or whether he would have to attempt a prison break to maintain his sanity. The song is about his longing for his lost lover that he can hardly wait to get back to. Hence the lyrics like, "Wait for me, wait for me, I'll be comin' home, wait for me."
Apologies if someone else had said this: The song was from a 1955 movie called "Chained" about a chain gang prison. It was sung by a black opera singer named Todd Duncan (one of the prisoners) - it's on UA-cam. The song won an Academy Award in 1955. For the 1955 versions, check out Roy Hamilton and Sam Cooke (on UA-cam). But this version was the one that really took off. Bobby was the one that started singing "I need your love" up an octave, which other singers began copying.
That was Bobby Hatfield doing a solo on The Andy Williams Show. Bill Medley, his singing partner was off stage watching. They're not biological brothers but at a show in southern California a group of black Marines yelled out, "that's righteous brother!" and their stage name was sealed for all time! And righteous they indeed were! My husband drove from our hometown of Chicago to St. Louis just because his kid brother wanted to see them and he said they were terrific! Try them together with "You've Lost That Loving Feeling," "Soul and Inspiration," "You'll Never Walk Alone," and Bobby solo again on "Summertime," and "Ebb Tide."
The song originally was about a man serving prison time, who sings about his love. The song was in the movie Ghost. Bobby is singing this live without the technical devices.
Big thumbs 👍 to you young man from an " old head "! You caught my attention early in the video when you started that time was going by so fast and to hear someone so young say what my other and I both say so often really made me think this young man has a sharp mind.
A love song, indeed. Things may have changed from then, but you can change yourself to love and live in the traditions of back then. Good change is infectious!
Righteous Brothers duo with many hits like Rock and Roll Heaven, You'll never walk alone, Guess who, Soul and Inspiration and You've lost that loving feeling. Both did solos and you can see more of Bobby in My Prayer and Summertime to name a few.
A powerhouse of a voice comes out of Roger Daltrey's vocal chords. He is the singer for the group "The Who". Try "Love, Reign O'er Me", "Baba O'Reilly". Another great is "Won't Get Fooled Again". The man can lay it out there.
Thank you for Acknowledging and sharing. I was trained by the wife of a vocal doctor who was a famous opera star in 1886. Given my age away, but you are just precious and bless your heart. I've been up all night and I just was letting UA-cam. Take me where it was taken me because I didn't even know UA-cam until 2015 or 16 I had the Google and Karen. I couldn't figure that out or Kevin. Or whatever you want to call him. So bless your heart for taking time. The respect and yes, time goes by fast. Now, because everybody's in a big hurry instead of just slowing down. Knowing your neighbors waving high taking walks. You kids are in the line of fire and it's just awful. I live in a town with population. I think there's 67 of us here somewhere well. Maybe not that many wow bless your hurt and watch the video of Queen who wants to live forever the official video. And you will gain a whole new respect from music I promise
This was just part of a variety show called The Andy Williams Show that the Brothers were guests on.Bobby was doing a solo, but earlier in the show both Brothers sang together.Variety Show were shows that were taped live from Hollywood studios or other studios and so just like the Late Show or Ellen DeGeneres the audience wasn't rowdy during performances and clapped at the ends.
I love seeing younger generations realize old school music is real and that they can actually appreciate it. Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers is thought to have done the best version. Look it up. 1955 Unchained Melody written for movie "Chained" about a man in prison longing to see his wife and family when he gets home. Al Hibbler and Roy Hamilton, both great black singers, recorded this song in 1950's. My mother is no longer here but she talked of Al Hibbler's recording as long as I can remember. Thanks for your reaction.❤ 7:01
There are two brothers. Have you done a react to "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" by them? You'll hear the other brother whose voice is totally different than this one. But they managed to meld them together beautifully.
You witnessed the best song and performance of all time. You are a smart fellow with a lot of wisdom at a young age - your comments were right on target. I subscribed right away because i respect you. Be safe and take care.
WE HAD IT MADE THE MUSIC WAS SO AMAZING AND I DON'T BELIEVE THAT ANYONE REALLY KNEW AT THE TIME HOW WE WOULD BE LOOKING BACK ON THE MUSIC THROUGH SOMEONE ELSES EYES AND THANKYOU FOR GIVING ME THE CHANCE TO EXPERIENCE IT THROUGH YOU I DON'T KNOW HOW THEY DID IT
Great reaction! Please react to Chris Stapleton singing Tennessee Whiskey. You'll love it. Then Chris Stapleton singing a cover of James Brown's Man's World. IF you like those check out Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake singing Tennessee Whiskey and Drink You Away. Then Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake singing Say Something. Oh you're going to love them all. Fire!!
I see a lot of reaction videos since I found your channel. I have a grandson who is 12, loves rap....loves his fam and me of course. I am a singer have been in huge bands............but the kid went through the Covid thing. I'm trying to get him to subscribe to your channel. That things don't suck, and there is hope. Thank you Golden!
The very best!!!!!!!!!!!
Greatest Live performance ever
i am glad to see a young man like you appreciating all types of music.
If you haven’t already, love to see you react to The Righteous Brothers singing You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling.
This is widely considered to be the best live performance of any song ever recorded, and it'd get my vote. No auto-tune, no production tricks, just a supremely gifted singer doing his best for his mom in the audience.
I’m so impressed with you!! You’re like my daughter, an old soul. Keep being you💗
The Righteous Brothers were a duo. Each one had songs they sang alone. Check out more of their music.
In my opinion, my generation had the best music. No electronics needed. Just a voice and a heart.
We did and not to mention the coolest cars :)
I get chills every time I hear this version. ❤The Righteous Brothers!
There are people who still value being true to one love. It's worth going for. And it's less about finding the right person as being the right person. The most important ingredient in a successful marriage is commitment.
BEAUTIFUL reaction ❤! Keep them coming!
Remember... This is live.. No fiddling with voice or music... pure unadulterated... Stop ... stopping... let it go... Give your comments at the end... Love you man.. Good Luck!
Bobby Hatfield was never formally coached vocally. Natural talent all the way. Amazing.
This is towards the end of the Big Band era. This was the music my parents listened and danced to. They loved each other so much.
He's what you call a blue-eyed soul singer. ♥
He also had a cold what can we say pure talent, man it is still beautiful makes my chest ach
All I can say is this song gives me chills and I cry every time....
You made me tear up about how you described there not being this type of longing in your generation. I hope this changes for you. You seem like a beautiful soul and deserve to feel this kind of love.
I'm an old head, and this stuff is what we grew up with! We were rather lucky, don't you think?
This performance deserves to be heard straight through.
I remember watching it on Andy Williams' show with my parents and brothers and sisters.
I love watching young people listening to classic rock for the first time. Yep they were great.
There were two Righteous Brothers - Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley. I’m 70 so I remember their songs well. You’ve lost that lovin’ feeling, Unchained… 🥰
Listening to this great classic music and watching you and your reaction is enjoyable.
The pure vocal talent of the past was amazing. I don’t think anyone compares today.
That bite in the lip at the end, "nailed it", in front of his parents in the audience is priceless to watch!
Him biting his lip is so sexy.
I was born in 1965 and this is one the top 3 of my Mom's favorite song. It's probably her favorite and yes, she's still here.
I love seeing young men like yourself finding inspiration in good music. This song transcends the times. And you CAN have the same influence as this today you just have to decided to be that young man. Keep up the good work. Who doesn't love The Righteous Brothers.
This “ old head” (68 years old) thoroughly enjoyed seeing your reaction, & thank you for being open to the music we enjoyed while growing up. Anxious to see you experience the music of the 70s next!
Music has changed, but talent is talent, regardless. This guy can sing. This is live. No autotune.

THIS is the song you want to play for your girl, sweetheart. His voice and this song can melt an iceberg.
You are smart, articulate & a great looking guy....you have an amazingly open mind. You can be or do anything you want. Stay strong!
Time goes by so slowly and time can do so much. Remember the context. This was sung by a prison inmate (played by Robert Todd Duncan) in the 1954 movie "Unchained."
Thanks for bringing this up. I doubt many listeners remember Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch.
Those were the days when singers were able to SING without any other today's gimmicks. Enjoy true vocals and talent that stood out through the times ❤
Luv how you are interested in these old school singers
Thanks for listening to this beautiful song sung by Bobby Hatfield. This has been considered the best live performance of all time and was called blue eyed soul. Bobby Hatfield was an amazing talent. RIP Bobby.❤️
Enjoy seeing reactors going back in the day exploring beautiful music from back in the day.

Hey man…shout out to being open minded and checking out older artists!

That's actually the beginning of this video before it got edited.
This song gives me shivers!

Righteous Brothers next song, “You’ve lost that loving feeling”. Both of them sing.
Yes!
Awe I love you see you young ones get so touched
You get it young man! Preach positivity and righteousness to your peers.
That's vibrato. If you are blessed, fortunate you will get 'old' yes.
I don't know if it's counted as vibrato when a counter tenor does it.
I wish you the blessings of growing old. May your life be full of joy ❤
The song originally was about a man serving prison time, who sings about his love. The song was in the movie Ghost. Bobby is singing this live without the technical devices.
Beautiful Voice❤
Big thumbs 👍 to you young man from an " old head "! You caught my attention early in the video when you started that time was going by so fast and to hear someone so young say what my other and I both say so often really made me think this young man has a sharp mind.
your reaction is priceless
Excellent reaction!
Righteous Brothers are not just a solo act there are 2 guys, the other one has a real deep voice.
Watching your channel from the UK - great to see a young man enjoying music from my childhood.
In the 80s pop came along; not many bands just singers and the technology to adjust voices and add the music. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm. ❤
A love song, indeed. Things may have changed from then, but you can change yourself to love and live in the traditions of back then. Good change is infectious!

This is a beautiful song for sure.. I love Elvis doing it.. probably more.. cause Mama raised me on Elvis but this is amazing.
This was during my day, and it was beautiful.
World -Class forever!❤🤛
Beautiful song
Beautiful reactions and comments from you. ❤
Fantastic to hear a great song with no auto tune!
some art is timeless
When music was music. Singers could sing!

They are a group! Watch she's lost that loving feeling

And think no auto tune. pure talent. Back in the day at my prom. This was called panty drop-in music. good reaction.

Goosebumps
You were certainly wearing the right shirt for this song!
Blue Eyed Soul!!
No autotune way back then. just actual talent!
I saw that on TV when I was sixteen.
He had some runs in this song... the voice is good too.
Ok kids, this is music!!!!

How nice to see you liking this- I was 16 then, and it was VietNam time. So many did not come back.

This is an example of what we “old guys” (😉😉) called “blue eyed soul” back in our day.
Great reaction!
