    Super inspiring video, I loved it, been trying to get my wifey to come down south and explore those places. So many questions to ask you dude, perhaps the most important one, any problems at all, safety issues and stuff like that? Are you guys traveling in groups, packs or caravan? How often you guys travel down there? I’m ready to pull trigger, but I will feel horrible living my girl behind! We might perhaps join you next time around and make her happy! 👍🏻🍺🤣

      Hi, thank you very much for supporting our channel, it means a great deal to us. I’m glad this video has inspired you to plan your own trip to Baja, it’s a beautiful place and we love it. Erica and I travel there at the bare minimum once per year. Mom was born in Baja so I’m pretty familiar with the area. I’ve received many inquiries such as yours and I’m thinking of putting together a video about traveling to Baja, how to prepare, etc. Baja is a safe place, but there is some crime just like anywhere else. You just have to be smart about things and most importantly have some common sense. Feel free to message me here or DM me if you have any questions or would like me to help you prepare an itinerary and give you some pointers. We may return in November.

      @@airstreamexpeditions1 I’m glad to have come accross uour site, and I would certainly love to stay in touch. There’s so much to know and so many unknowns.
      Perhaps one of the most important ones apart from safety or security is do you require a letter from your finance company to bring your rig down to Baja?
      I’ve been as far as the valley of Guadalupe and Cabo San Lucas. I’ve always been fascinated to the natural beauty, how sparse, broad, empty and how serene everything is. Beautiful people, exquisite food. Looking forward to staying in touch, hopefully we can plan it trip as a group one day and have a blast amongst new long lasting friends!
      Cheers! 🍺👍🏻

      Thank you for supporting our channel, I hope you got some valuable information. Let me know if you need any recommendations for places to stay or captains to take you fishing. You don’t need a license for shore fishing, but you do need a license to fish from a kayak or a vessel. You can obtain a license online here is the link. sportfishing.bajacalifornia.gob.mx/

      Thank you for respond. I watch all you video from Baja and have all Capitan's names you recommended. When you go fishing with Capitan I see you use you bottom fishing rod/ reel for yellowfin . what rig did you use on this video for bottom fishing? do the captain provide fishing rods or better to use your own? Thank you again. I found you video is best for fishing in Baja Thank you @@airstreamexpeditions1

      Depending on the time of year you visit, yellowtail can sometimes be down deep. In that case, we use 80 pound test with an Owner 6/O hook. Other times of the year they’re on the surface and you can catch them with irons. I always suggest calling the Captain ahead of time and asking him what gear to bring. I usually bring my own gear but it’s not needed. Just let your captain know ahead of time and he can provide a gear for you.

    At 8:31 there is a nice view of the sand spit. This is where our party of two families+ camped in 1973 (there is a lighthouse on that spot now.) I was in high school then and I was with the family of my future wife. Across the bay was the only settlement: Papa Diaz' resort which I see is still there. It was a long way down dirt road from San Quintin and there was a landing strip with small planes parked at Papa Diaz. On Christmas night we had dinner at Papa Diaz' which was serving Turtle Steak. I know that's not ok today. It tasted like abalone, btw.

      Hey James, hope you enjoyed the video. Sounds like you were there at a great time that created long lasting memories. That’s what these trips are all about, discovering new things and creating memories. Although the town is likely more developed today, it’s still probably very recognizable. Have you been there lately?

      Good to read a comment of being there in the early 70's. I started going to B de L in 1968 as soon as school was out fir the summer. I would camp, with friends or by myself for a couple of weeks in June. I would stop and tell "Mama " Diaz where I was and when Caguama was on the menu to send someone to tell us. The best steak or tacos ever. No question, I'm glad the sea turtle and their eggs are now protected . I am an avid diver and fish the Golfo still, but limit my catch to a couple of fish to eat. B de L has changed along with most of the places I used to camp. Some of the remote islands still allow people to moor & camp for a few days. Enjoy Baja. Still a world apart from the Norm.

    Fellow Airstreamer here. Were you fishing a Phenix Axis on those yellowtail? We are thinking about rolling down to Baja this winter and I was thinking about taking my gear.

    • @airstreamexpeditions1
      @airstreamexpeditions1  Рік тому +1

      Yes sir, that was my Phoenix Axis. In the winter months yellowtail are down low so you want to bring the following…
      1. 6/O circle hooks (I prefer Owner)
      2. 80 pound test mono line with braid
      3. Sabikki
      If you want to fish, leopard grouper, make sure you bring the following…
      1. Casting rod and reel (40 lb test)
      2. Diawa SP minnows - bubble gum and white
      I’ll be there in November and fishing on my own. Let me know if you want to connect.

      @@airstreamexpeditions1 right on! Gotta love pulling those slug yellowtail off the rocks. I’ve got everything from 10’ Ulua’s to 130lb bluefin gear. We may have retired and left Cali, but I still get out to San Diego a couple of times a year to fill the freezer. Love your videos and enthusiasm. We’re on our 3rd Airstream now- a 2019 23CB International. Glad to see a video of someone towing down Baja. Wondered if it was plausible, or if I needed to go with an adventure van.

    • @airstreamexpeditions1
      @airstreamexpeditions1  Рік тому

      It’s definitely possible. You just have to plan your trip out. For example, there’s not many options for dumping you’re holding tanks in Bahia de Los Angeles so, you have to make sure you have a full tank of freshwater and an empty black and gray tank. I like Campo Archelon because they also have showers and bathroom facilities that you can use as a back up. On my way back home. I’ll stop in San Felipe at Pete’s Camp to dump my holding tanks.
