I just got done installing a new gas tank on my 55 Truck but had to use a 66-69 midsize ford tank. It is the same style as the Mustang tank but wider and holds 20 gallons. I wanted to use the cheaper Mustang tank but did not have the means to reconfigure the tank frame the previous owner built and fitted to the truck. I subbed and am enjoying watching your 55 truck build🤠👍
It technically could but its baffled for EFI. However - the make the SAME exact tank for carbureted engines. Call Justin at Tanks Inc and mention my channel - he will roll out the red carpet for you and hook you up.
Im definitely happy with the tank! I would say the capacity is something you should definitely consider though.. I have a 16g tank - mostly because I wanted the slim profile and Im not planning on taking long road trips, if you are, I’d step up to the next size up.

Could you have bottom mounted the tank? Or were you trying to keep clearance so you can drop the truck to the ground?
Thats exactly right, the truck will sit pretty low so that extra 3”-4” is big time.

@@dadedubbledee Sure it will. Lots of people have done the mustang tank conversion on these trucks, keeping the leaf springs.
