Thats what I have been wishing!! If they can make so many movies for individual superheroes every year, they CAN make movies on these grand characters!!
Thanks for posting this April-- it is very interesting, ...and I love Thranduil in the black outfit-- wish they would have used it in the movie, He looks like a rock star in that outfit.
+Maggie Brown-- I think he was wearing that costume briefly in the final film. I have to go back and watch it--- but I think it is in the scene where he is in the tent, speaking to Gandalf. He just looks so imposing anyway, because of his height, demeanor and voice...then throw in a long, shimmering black robe framing the platinum hair...and it's like being hit in the face by a falling star.
They did use it. He wears a darker version of his outfit (plus a red cloak) in the scene when he cuts off the head of the orc prisoner that he and Legolas were interogating.
Those tree-like columns remind me of the interior of the Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona. It is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen and draws a lot of inspiration from nature.
The white deer,it's very much associated with the other world. And if you interact with it,you may stray over in to its world..and that can be perilous...
I just can't understand why the elves choose to live in a cavern like dwarves when they had the Mirkwood all around them - there's no backstory I can find to explain this choice...I wonder that they didn't live among the trees like Galadriel's people. Or out in the open in buildings like Elrond's. Maybe just to make a contrast?
Thanks, Alex, for that tidbit. I can see where living in the Mirkwood at that particular time would be perilous indeed, and that most would have retreated to the safety of the city. Must have galled Thranduil not to be able to stem the tide of poison into his woodland.
Mia Tolliver Remember how Thorin is captured? The Dwarves come across many Elves feasting within Mirkwood itself. Even Thranduil is mentioned outside of the walls joining in the merriment.
There should be movie about Thranduil and Lee Pace should play it no one else. He is great for this role

omg lee pace's laugh at 4:51 is so adorable (⊙ω⊙)
Imagine his reaction after he saw the way it looked post-production!

Really thanks to those designers! A successful role is a team work of many people seen and unseen.
Such creativity! I'm fascinated to hear these stories and find out the background on the props and sets.

wood elves have infra-vision anyway so i like the idea of their houses and palace to be underground and is safer.
Of course I deserve the best!
Imagine in the future the trees starting to form like this
Like im living in the fantasy
4:53; Thranduil on his throne. Looks an awful LOT like that OTHER elf Prince; Nuada.
Sitting on that 20+ feet wide throne really places any actor playing the Elvenking IN CHARACTER.
I love it 💖
Does anyone know the name of the music that starts at 5:11? It's so beautiful!

I wish they had put the scene of Thranduil singing & dancing with his people.
Is that Orlando's voice?
These people are so talented.
To actually have a realm or should I say your throne room be built like this? Magnefico.
where did you get this footage?
I found it on DVD Desolation of Smaug EE. There is almost 9 hours of BTS.
Beautiful Story 👍❤️
É muito talento!!
No not the Notre Dame John Howe, it’s the Sagrada Familia!
