Just brought home TWO Bengal kittens and they are in shock and withdrawn from fear of strangers. Hoping they will come out of their shell in a day or two. Giving them their space at the moment. @@Clarityawareness Hi, they settled in very well, it has been 2 weeks now and they love it here at their new home. They are brother and sister, 5 months old. Turns out they are more friendly than I thought and both like to sit on my lap purring away...😊😊😊 they follow me all over the house... I have always loved cats but am very allergic so have avoided getting a cat for many years until I discovered I have no allergy to Bengals at all.
@@yummyzoot So happy to hear that! We are getting a female bengal in exactly 3 weeks. We already have a 7 year old male short hair domestic cat, so hopefully they get along well. I really wanted another male kitten, but none of them connected with me. The first female kitten the breeder showed me there was an instant connection. I hope she is just as loving as my male after she gets adjusted. Thanks for replying.
What u mean its arriving and i ordered it??? WTF iis wrong with u guys?? You didnt met ur Bemgal before?? Im shocked. But it looks like this is a american typical way of getting a domestic cat. Shame on you that u "bought" a cat on the internet....so shame on you
Interesting to hear that you went with dry food diet, I have been doing so much research about what is best to feed them my head hurts! Most sources say wet raw diet is best for Bengals, but I am not a big fan of raw meat for cats (worms etc). Glad to know some owners pick dry only, and Kona seems like a happy and healthy cat so surely it's a good option. Might follow in your footsteps!
cats naturally eat raw meats, and bengal cats are no exception, they are half wild after all. What makes you think that cats havent evolved to be able to take on worms, since the worms are sometimes inevitable in their NATURAL DIET? their entire heritage has been eating raw meat, and in my opinion, they were perfectly fine. please feed your cat what is best and healthiest for them, natural.
Yes, yes, and yes! So many great tips! We just adopted a new kitty a couple of months ago after we had to put our previous one down. We did a lot of these things when we got ours and it made it so much easier for him to adjust!
Bringing home our bengal tomorrow, we are adopting him from a rescue group. He's 1 and 1/2 years old, but has high medical needs with asthma and irritable bowel disease. We got to know his purrsonality before we noticed that he's a bengal. Now we're planning on harness training him for extra exercise, and we've got plenty of cat trees ,plenty of room, a treadmill, cat furniture, and 3 other cats here to play with.
My Bengal Max, his favorite cat toys are A rolled up piece of paper & a cable tie. I use a high quality dry food only diet as it is better for their teeth, and I only use wet food as a treat for training / reward. The best investment was a very tall scratching post, they love to climb!
This was great I got my first Bengal 17years ago. I now have my 2nd Bengal and regular yellow cat. Bengals are intense, sensitive, highly motivated. My 2nd bengal ended up being mostly blind which he hid from me and the breeder until around 6 months. It has been an interesting journey. Breeder was horrified and wanted to give me my money back plus replace him. Both were a No go. My Bengal Sammy is no less of a cat just because he has a vision issue. I have vision issues and wear contacts glad my Mom didn't reject me. My only suggestion with Bengals is if you live in a small place under 1000sf I'd get a Cat Wheel for them. My Bengal loves his cat wheel it helps him when he get frustrated and super good for his physical and mental health. His brother a non Bengal and is not interested in the wheel. I live in a 2800sf home and at times this is too small for my Bengal. Both of my cats are now 7. Also please don't get a pet unless you can truly support it. My cats are first on my list. The list is cat, me, family, friends, home and then the rest of you. These are living beings that we choose to have in our home and are dependent on us. All of your tips are great. I have the best food for them no fillers no gluten and both wet and dry. Dry as treat wet as main course. I'd rather pay for good food and keep them health and avoid vet bills. my cats drink out of the toilet, faucets. bath tub I do have a water fountain for them but I encourage any water drinking. Especially with boy cats. If they don't get enough water they'll have urinary track issues which will cost you thousands of dollars, special food. I avoid that by making drinking water for them pleasurable and a positive experience. I love my boys and the return has been incredible. thanks your u tube videos are enjoyable. Bengals come into their own around 4. You can tell because they actually will sit with you and stare at you like saying I see you. My 2nd Bengal he does this thru touch. He'll grab my hand sometimes. They are amazing breed. Intense engaged super sensitive and can easily be damaged emotionally.
I am currently on Bengal day minus 2..... 😮. Been looking for my best buddy for decades and have finally found her! Your vids have so far, shown me so many tips and ideas. I hope to be able to document my progress with Cleopatra as well as you have done!!
@@KurtisandChelsey i have an interesting question for maybe a q&a, how do you keep your cat busy during the day? My bengal cat is 7 months old now and altough i play like 2-3 times a day he keeps asking to play! (especially at night & mornings)
Um, every Bengal video should have that kind of focus. 😆 Owners in soft focus in the background, Bengal in sharp focus in the front. 👍🏻 On a different note, I think wet food (at least) is best for all cats, but I get the struggle of your cat not eating it. That is horribly stressful. My boy did that. He also did the water thing. It was just fun. Kona is beautiful. Warm wishes from Minnesota!
When you go out for walks, especially when she was little, how did she react when seeing dogs? We live near lots of pretty woods, but there are always loads of dogs, and mostly not on leashes. We’re soon picking up a pair of kittens and don’t want to traumatise them every time we go out. Do we just have to find somewhere no one else goes?
I give high quality wet food & select protein crunchy food. Wet food to help w/it being easier on the kidneys & crunchy food to use in treat toys & games. I *do not* pour crunchy food directly in a bowl. I have only used it it in balls, egg rollers, the test tube flip toy, puzzle boxes. Plus, I make my own toys & bottles w/holes. Doing all of this will help your cat be intellectually & physically challenged. It’s a must- one of our kittahs needs constant intellectual stimulation.
It's a wild animal in the shape of a house cat. They are pack animals so if you leave for work all day have another pet there or another Bengal. They also need raw food. Some will appear to do fine with commercial pet food, but in the long run this will adversely affect their health.
I’m bringing home a Snow Lynx Bengal in a couple of weeks…are there any differences in temperament or behaviour between a “classic” Bengal like Kona and a Snow Lynx Bengal?
Also, tracking weight after she is grown is critical. If there is a sudden weight change, that may indicate a health change and you should see your vet. My last cat lost weight, turned out to be be thyroid. But then, about a year later, she lost weight again. Sadly it was cancer and acted swiftly :( But changes in sallowing is a visual indication of weight loss.
Thanks so much for this video!! My breeder recommended the pine pellets as well, so great advice to stick with what the breeder is using :) I cant wait to bring home my bengal in a month!
You both are always so helpful! I love watching your videos. Thanks for the recommendation on alternative cat food too. The breeder I'm buying from is not in favor of anything other than homemade raw food (which seems time consuming/expensive) and/or high quality raw food. I would love it if you all had a vet come on one day. I was researching the tiki cat food while watching and it looks amazing!
May I ask who's the breeder you guys went with when getting Kona? I'm currently in the process of finding the right breeder to go with for getting my bengal :)
Not sure if this is possible to learn but man I LOVE the color of Kona. Is there a way I could get the name of the color she is? Looking up Bengal's near me are nowhere near as beautiful of she is, and it make me so sad but I'm hoping that its just picture quality difference.
Awesome video for beginners! How much does Kona weigh now? About food bowls; stainless steel kitty bowls otherwise put the ceramic/plastic bowls in the dishwasher every day to avoid kitty chin acne. Laana always has a full bowl royalcanin(not sponsored) kitty dry food and one small can of wet split 7am/pm. Once she reached 5-6mo she likes to eat in the afternoon, so now were on after morning walk, afternoon and night. I only give her some wet food if I see she's eating already, otherwise it goes back into the fridge. She's totally fine going without wet food, which makes my life easy. Fresh water twice a day if she doesn't have running water. Apple cider vinegar spray on hand before we go where the squirrels hang out to avoid squirrel fleas. A drop of cologne is a good emergency repellent I over worried about Laana at first. Trying not to get bit while she's teething was impossible. Had to learn to stay cool, give love and understanding, learn when to politely walk away or hide my hands so they could heal. Wanted to bond with her although she was very sharp, took some time but we have a good bond and never a hostile moment (except those few days when she was in heat for the first time, I didn't flinch when she ruptured the large vein in my hand, my fault for picking her up and ending our walk early when she was kindly marching down the sidewalk). She's very free spirited and will express her dominance on our morning walks now, it's a fine balance of gently advising her to listen to me when its time to follow. Commands are only accepted when they make sense. I never scold her and don't want negativity to be part of my every day vocabulary, so lately I speak to her kindly but assertively in French and refer to her as Chatton when we're out walking. It's been working. "Allez-zit, Chattion! On-y-va! Vient-tands! Vitevite!" At home shes a lamb, mostly, at age 8mo (toilet paper rolls an occasional sacrifice and an occasional game of "I'm gonna eat your fingers, now"). Laana has never responded to treats, so my patience and attention has been her reward and it seems to be working. Tricks happen when we are on the same wavelength, for example, when she wants to go out she will meow at the door, at first she would jump on my shoulder and yell in my ear, so I turned this into a thing where she will hop on my shoulder and stay perched while I get ready to go out. Repetition is important. I found she will perch facing the door, so I need to face the door while she gets settled then i can walk around with her and get ready. It's been a long road of mutual understanding. I do my best to respect her wishes while doing the necessities, ie. Brushing teeth, following on a walk when she sees a bee, cutting kitty nails (cause she broke her overly long kitty nail on a tree recently). Setting rules early and staying consistent makes a big difference, like no going under cars, no going on road, don't sneak through fences. Communication with her now is easy, she is either telling me its time to go outside or "my stomach hurts but I swear I didn't eat your plants." I can talk to her all day and maybe ill get a response, but I know shes listening. Bengals are alot of work, but are a blessing when they're happy and have gotten out the pent up energy in them. So many growing pains and energy surges makes kitties go wild, best to give them peace so they can find their equilibrium but help them spend the energy. Love your ideas, keep up the great videos Best wishes, new Bengal owners!😽
With raw food, lots of organ meat was our solution. She didn't take to her raw chicken too much. Then When making the food I add lots of liver, hearts, gizzards, and feet. Also I add Kitty Bloom vitamin mixture. Now and then I add Turkey legs. Get a good meat grinder. Grind up everything including the bones. The cost of the grinder will be justified by saving money avoiding expensive commercial cat food.
Laana eats mostly fat on raw steak or bacon when its below 0° out. I've thrown out 99% of the raw meat ive bought for her and far too lazy a human to blend/freeze it if she's not interested. Livers, hearts and other organs she won't touch. She will sometimes eat small scraps of meat I throw her way if I'm cooking for myself. She will nibble on mostly anything I offer(including grape skins) but quite picky and sticks to her dry food. Bag of dry food is about $50/7lbs and lasts about 2 months. Case of wet food is $50/month. It's easy for me, she enjoys it and the vet is happy. Never bought cat food supplements, like taurine, because she never had an all meat diet, there's always dry food around. Some days I don't give her wet food and I don't get complaints. She's active, thin and very lean at 6.8lbs and 7.5 months
My Bengal is 2 1/2 Months old I feed her Raw Beef Stew Meat but I freeze it after getting it at Store to kill Possible Harmful Bacteria then refrigerator thaw Cut it into 1/2" or 3/4" Chunks si she Has to Chew it. My 5 mos old is on thin ice whn it cms to play aggression. Yes-im aware of potential reasons like boredom, pent up energy, etc but i can honestly say i hv played w my guy for an hour straight a few times a day, interspersed with several 10-15 min playtime episodes frm other members of the family and yet, whnever he jumps up, he wl go into play mode immediately and end up with a bite or scratch. He goes after my ankles sometimes.. If im sitting on a chair, he jumps up, i pat him whn he purrs but within a few seconds he goes into play mode, w the, dilated pupils, grabbing onto my arm, etc. Its disconcerting and sad bcuz i want to engage w him but i dont trust him. Hes being neutered in a few more wks and im hoping ths wl calm him down a little but i hv my doubts. I plan on discussing ths w my vet but if you hv any other tips other than wht we hv been doing …?…id be so appreciative.

@@Dansguitars9142 sounds like he needs to burn some energy. Play with him or get him outside for a walk! Playing with them for 30 mins to an hour a day will be huge!
Question for you : did you or will you declaw your cat ? I am against it but my bengal kitten is so agile and I always afraid what happens when he becomes bigger with stronger claws ! He already gave me a few scratches 😂😂
Bengals shouldn't be declawed, but they are extremely trainable. There is a 50% chance that declawing would unsocialize them. It's really easy to lose their trust. Buy cheap scratching posts and teach them to use it.
De not declaw! It’s basically amputating your fingers up to the 1st knuckles. It’s helpful to have a 2nd person to help clip claws. There’s also soft caps that can be put on the claw tips.
And declawing can contribute to eliminating outside the litter boxes (litter feels too painful) & declawing can also cause biting behaviours. If you don’t like being scratched, that’s nothing compared to being bitten.
I like you guys and like to listen to the sound of you. But this was way too much. You could have brought in old clips of Kona with a voice over. Sorry to say so...

Love your ideas, keep up the great videos
Best wishes, new Bengal owners!😽
What should I do for my Bengal kitten when I’m away at work ? I’m scared that they get depressed or bored . Any suggestions ?
Thank u for the advice I getting one. But I think the camera was focused on the cat because u two look blurry.
Boneless Chicken Breast is oven Baked with no Salt or light Butter Baste cut same as Beef. Shrimp & Crab Meat Deli Cooked w ni seasoning ti Get Iodine nutrient to her
Occasionally Sardines in Water as a Treat. She's Gaing Weight at About a Pound Per Month. She took right away to Eating Meat
I'm getting a bengal kitten in 2 weeks time. She will be 9 weeks when she gets here. Any tips for the first few nights she's with me? Will she be sleeping when I am and is it safe to leave her in a different room during the night? Btw you guys are awesome. Have been following you two since a few weeks now
Great information, thanks for the upload
Amazing video! Very insightful!
I just got mine home . She's awesome . So loving and affectionate . But she hasn't eaten her raw food the breeder provided . What can I do if anything to help her eat?
High protein dry food is just fine. As recommended by our vet
Who was the breeder you went too if you don’t mind sharing ?
we love bengal cat, we got 2 of them , and now my is allergic to them , don't know what to do now :-(
I heard about someone being allergic at first. They had to take Benadryl or something. Somehow they made the allergy lessen to where it almost never bothers him. I’ll try to find video
Can bengals live happily with dogs if introduced at little age ?

My kitten got home yesterday and he is sooo stressed i searched and did everything But he is still shy i got stressed out because i thought I did something wrong 😔
At what age can i let my bengel go outside by her self ??
How many vaccinations should breeders provide?
Drove 8 hours to get my baby today
The only other thing we would say is replace your hand with a toy when that happeneds. Our new kitty Cooper does that too if you let him anywhere but on his head lol you
What food bowls?? No link.
please help... mine is crying under my bed i js took it home it is brand new
A great information
are you all making more cat products?
is there something in particular you would like us to make... we have been thinking about it!
Where can I see an example of your cat file system?
Link is in the description!
Is kona neutered ?
Please everyone. If you want a Bengal be prepared for their high energy
so true!
Is there anything that we missed that you have a question about?
How do you get them to change ive had mine for a year and I don’t know what to do know I’m planning on getting and identical one tommorow so I’ll do all
@@Dansguitars9142 how do we get them to change what?
He’s being hiper and keeps running and screaming all day
@@Dansguitars9142 sounds like he needs to burn some energy. Play with him or get him outside for a walk! Playing with them for 30 mins to an hour a day will be huge!
Ok thank you
Is the cat name Icelandic? "Kona" in Icelandic means "woman"
I recently adopted a 1 yr old Bengal cat
He is ADORABLE 🥹
But for some reason he doesn’t like scratching boards. is that normal?
Honestly what a bunch of chores…. I assume this lucky Bengal cat will be an indoor cat just as it would want to be
its and adventure cat - indoor but lots of hikes. watch some of our more recent videos.
Our channel is Maui the Bengal Cat
Oh sorry u said u would fix focus, guess I spoke too soon
Why do so many people say “Bangle”??
I’m sorry but I’m still waiting for the hide and seek video with kona!
Remember my comment?
Haha yes be patient haha it’s coming!
@@KurtisandChelsey yes I have been trying to be patient
My harly
Em. Is this old vid?saw this before?
Nope brand new just posted this today
I like you guys and like to listen to the sound of you. But this was way too much. You could have brought in old clips of Kona with a voice over. Sorry to say so...
I need nut partners. I have big money in a martian meteorite. I own a charbonite CK5. It is not easy for me to sell here but in the USA probably people around the NASA could be interested. My meteorite sells in the internet between around 200 dollars and 6,000 per gram. My meteorite weights around 10 kg. Pretty green rock. You can buy extra cat food if you help me sell it. In my country the nuts are genius and the not nuts are stupid people. Anyway beautiful Bengali cat. I much enjoy your videos.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SHOW WITH THIS BORING AND THE PROOF IS THAT NO ONE EVEN SUPPORTED YOU IN WHAT YOU TRIED
booooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnggggggggggg
Do you know how long it took us to make this?
Its not a cat playing with toy vid. Or made to be funny cat vid. Its talking about what sets you up well for a bengal cat. They did very well, informative, and nice to have seen the cat there too. ❤️😊
