And then rubbing Nicky's lock of hair on her face to feel him again 😭 Kathryn also said in an interview that before she left to start filming, her family, knowing absolutely nothing about the production beforehand, gave her locks of their hair in a locket so they could be close to her while she was away and she always kept it tucked underneath her costume the entire time.
Just found this channel. Let me just say - Intelligent nerds who are not afraid to show emotion are the most attractive people there is. Your reaction to "Sometimes boys die." was so heartwarming. And your reaction to Nickys death, almost got me in tears as well.
@@Andr3wJM As a father this hit so hard, I couldn’t imaging going through that and the scary part is you really don’t know how much time you have. What would have been better, as a baby or after spending 6 years getting attached? Obviously neither would be the best but having to choose idk they’re both hard choices.
@@zacksnerdpackMan, I think this episode was difficult for anyone who has children, what a talent Kathryn Hahn has for these dramatic scenes, just as she had demonstrated for the comedic scenes. I'm really sad that the show ended.
This show was a roller coaster, and I absolutely loved it. My favorite moment in the entire series was Lilia doing her own tarot reading. From the time she said, the queen of cups all the way up until she said the tower upright was mesmerizing and brought me to tears. The one death that I wish hadn’t happened was Sharon/Mrs. Hart. I would’ve absolutely loved to see her going through all of the various trials and how she would cope.
Whew - it's hard to choose. Top performances of the show: 1) Kathryn just in general 2) Joe's scene trying to find Tommy 3) Patti's Final scenes 4) Jen's un-binding 5) Alice's Triumph & saying goodbye
@@zacharitee Very hard for sure, this show was full of great moments from exciting, to sad, to wholesome, it had a little bit of everything. I was hoping for a bit more of a final fight but overall very happy with the show and definitely in my top favorites!
My favorite moment is "poke the bear" in their real first meeting. In universe, Billy is amused by the absurdity of "Agnes". In the real world, the chemistry between Joe and Kathryn is palpable.
What I enjoyed about that was that after first seeing Agatha's gritty crime-drama version of their first meeting, we get Billy's version and how different it is. "No, I do not want to poke the bear." "Ow! Can we dispense with the violence?" Sharon calling him a hooligan in real life instead of in Agatha's version expressing concern about his wellbeing after he ran out in front of her.

I love your reaction bc you are so smart with all the details and so emotionally connected to everyone - including Agatha. You watch it and see interpret it the way the creators and performers intended and I love it. Agree with you on all opinions and I rarely feel that way about other reactors .
When Agatha was telling Nicky how she can’t heal him, protect him, or divine when she will come for him, it was referencing her coven with Jen Alice and Lilia
Billy trying so hard to convince himself he's bad - but he keeps feeling guilty, or doing sweet, thoughtful things Agatha trying so hard to convince herself that she's bad - but she... yeah, she does do good things sometimes, but they never stick There are already rumours of a Wiccan series, or movie. I only discovered your channel tonight and I instantly subscribed! Not only was your reaction a joy to watch, but you also bear an uncanny resemblance to my oldest nephew. Looking forward to diving into more of your reactions!
I've rewatched the series twice now, and each time I find more packed into it. The level of writing for this show was insane, honestly. It took me my second watch to realize that it was Billy's coven all along because Death/Rio has had a variety of names over the millennia, none of them forbidden. So whose name would Lilia literally be unable to put to paper? Billy Maximoff. They did a really good job throwing us off because of Rio's 'black heart' comment in the first episode (and also teasing Blackheart himself as a possible red herring), but he really was meant to be there the whole time. Every single Trial begins because Billy inadvertently sets it in motion, and he is an active participant in each one (finding the first riddle and his blood being the key to Jen's antidote, finding and playing the cursed record and being the guitarist for Alice's song, initiating the Ouija session and actually seeing Nicholas trying to communicate with his mother, picking up the tarot deck and helping Lilia realize she had to read for herself, and finally tossing aside his spellbook to close the morgue doors and setting the final Trial in motion). I also thought that the reveal of Teen as Billy was done brilliantly. I called him as Billy from the first announcement of Joe Locke as part of the series, mainly because fans have been fancasting him as Wiccan for a couple of years now (and wanting his "Heartstopper" co-star Kit Connor as Hulkling, which frankly I'd love to see), but I've seen quite a few reactors who were genuinely shocked because honestly Wiccan is just not as big of a name in comic circles for people to generally know of his existence without being a Marvel comics fan. I liked that they went through the effort of throwing out the red herrings of having him "maybe be Blackheart" or "maybe be a reincarnated Nicholas Scratch" or "maybe be Mephisto or someone/something that works for him", because they knew there would be a portion of the audience they wouldn't fool but a larger part they would, and it was still fun to watch for all of us even going in kind of figuring that would be the direction. I will say for my own sake, I was very surprised by the reveal that the Witches' Road was Billy's creation, mainly because I know that it actually does exist in the comics. I thought Rio was going to say "a Road that doesn't end" to Agatha, which I thought was confirmed by the Road turning out to be a loop, and her cutting her way out of the Road was just a clever way to do a cool effect without needing to spend money on VFX (this show had a relatively tiny budget, and personally I think that they proved to everyone that they really, really need to go back to smaller budgets. The amount of practical effects were amazing and they LOOKED amazing. So much of this show was down to what Marvel was really famous for in the first three phases, which was just really complex writing and character development), not the way you immediately called as proof that the Road was fake. And yeah, much as Alice's death especially was awful, I loved that the writers stuck to death actually meaning something and refused to bring any of them back. I think the biggest tragedy of the finale is that we are given little bits and pieces, but it's left up to audience interpretation why Agatha is such a prolific witch hunter -- is she feeding, is she just gathering power, is she determined to kill witches before they have a chance to betray her like her mother and original coven did? Either way, the little scene in the woods when Nicky asks her about her magick, Agatha uses very specific wording: "I cannot heal you, I cannot protect you, I cannot divine when Death is coming back". These are all skills of other witches. It's mentioned over and over again that witches need covens for family and community. It's mentioned over and over again that Nicholas looks sick, looks frail, looks like he's living on borrowed time. If Agatha had actually formed a coven and lived in harmony with them, she might have been able to extend Nicholas's life, but instead was completely alone and asleep when Rio came back for him. That coupled with begging Rio to give her "time", when Nicholas wasn't supposed to exist at all, along with perverting his sweet little mother/son nursery rhyme into a lure to slaughter probably more than a hundred other witches over the years, all combined to have her feeling too ashamed to join him in the afterlife, even though you can tell how badly she wants to see him again.
Edit: Ah, someone else commented this theory, but I'm just going to leave this here: I heard a theory a little bit ago that I liked a lot. Just like how Agatha promises bodies to Rio/Death as a way of distracting Rio from Billy/William, Agatha kills witches for the reasons you listed but ALSO to provide more deaths/bodies to distract/please Rio so she doesn't take away Nicky. The seemingly one time Nicky refuses Agatha's plan is the night he dies. Also, if we want to stretch it a little: after Nicky's death, she continues hunting wishes for survival and power but also starts to distract Rio from herself or as a way to get rid of her (maybe because of how old she is even though she's supposed to die? Although, it seems that Lilial lives centuries as well). We know that Rio has been pursuing Agatha and is "making [her] life hell", maybe as the price of their breakup or the extra time Rio gave to Nicky. A little warning: this is not based on any potential comics knowledge because I lack it but is instead based on the show and the context that is given in it. I also doubt this interferes with the comics' way of things anyway (considering the MCU takes its own directions and details a little differently). All in all, I love how the show leaves this up to interpretation. This show absolutely blew my expectations; so good.
@@squidyminegaming3314 I do think that there's parts of it that are that, and parts of it that have to do with us never being made clear on Agatha's full history, like what she did that turned her mother and the Salemites on her in the first place. We do read that she has "succubus powers" during Billy's online investigations, so maybe she actually needs to eat magick to live? But also, we do at least know that one of the reasons she acquired the Darkhold was to hide from Death, which Rio seems really offended by when she first really reveals herself after Agatha sheds Scarlet Witch's curse. She accuses Agatha of getting the Darkhold and hiding behind all that dark magick. I think that maybe Agatha was trying to figure out a way to fight Death, maybe to resurrect Nicholas, hence why she was always searching for power and why Wanda's Hex was so irresistable for her. This is all just theories, however, as comic!Agatha is actually pretty different in a few key ways from MCU!Agatha -- hell, in the comics Nicholas Scratch is her son but is also the master of the hidden town of New Salem, and the Salem Seven are technically her grandchildren. I think the MCU made her a much, much more layered and interesting character, honestly.
@@wickedfire91 Wow, yeah. Those are some great points; I forgot about a lot of these. Thanks for the insight! Hopefully these are at least a little more elaborated on in any future projects (or enough to grasp a bigger picture), like showing more pre-murder Agatha or her starting relationship with Rio/Death. Great reaction! Just discovered your channel with this video, and loved seeing you pick up on all the meaning and emotion behind all the clues they laid out. Subbed!
VisionQuest is the trilogy of WandaVision, it's gonna be released sometime in 2025 and it's rumored that Tommy will be in the cast. So maybe Billy and Agatha will appear in the show.
I think in her whole 375 years Agatha Harkness loved two people (not Rio, that was just toxic addiction): Nicholas Scratch and Billy Maximoff, in the TV version anyway. Billy and Agatha will find Tommy and then the 3 of them will find Wanda.
@@AzureKite191 Because MCU and people want Wanda. MoM needs to be undone. It was an abject disaster. And in the comics Billy and Tommy save Wanda from Dr. Doom. If you think this isn’t heading there then you don’t understand Marvel. He also loves the Kaplans but they aren’t enough anymore. Also he got some of his memories as Billy back. He will want to find his parents.
Actually she did love Rio too, before the Nicky situation at least. They were supposed to show her life with Rio but it was cut to focus more on this Nicky background story. Apparently Agatha and Rio lived together and its apparently also possible that Rio is the other parent through her Green Witch magic (creating life). The show creator didnt realize people would be so interested in the Agatha x Rio situation
They're so vague about why Agatha is afraid of facing her son, I'm pretty sure it has to do with her relationship with Death. The magic siphoning was probably a gift from Death to give her bodies in exchange for life and that life was also transferred into making a baby. Whether they make Nicholas a villain spirit or not, I can see her trying to avoid crossing over at all costs, even if it meant doing the tricksy bait 'n switch she did on Rio at the end by getting Billy to surrender his soul fulfilling her end of the bargain so she'd become a ghost. She's jumping through hoops to avoid him. Many many layers of this onion are yet to be unpeeled.
@@hollywoodguy70 That and I think she’s afraid of how he will react to all the years she spent draining witches of there power when he was trying to get her to stop. That’s why when she heard Nicky say “mama stop” while draining Alice she had that look and ran away as fast as she did. She thinks he will never forgive her but like Billy says “I’m sure he’d forgive you, for whatever it is you did” I think Billy will be what makes Agatha come to terms and finally face her son, after the quest for a family reunion of course!

Vision is the next show of this trilogy in 2026. Probably Agatha and Billy are gonna pop up there, is rumor that Tommy is gonna apear in this show. A new rumor says that Wiccan is gonna have a show but don't have a date yet, probably after Vision.
I saw in Instagram a girl saying that the expression " made from scratch" means "came from earth/nature" in her and other European countries. What if Nicholas was Agatha and Rio's son?? Rio is not only Death but the Original Green Witch. Since they were a couple, she might have helped Agatha have a child without a man involved. Wonder Woman style.
@@Lucas_Carvalho616 Yeah I was wondering since we never hear mention of a male figure if that would be the case, good point on the “from earth/nature” part, that very well could be the case
My favorite moments have to be episode 2 when Agatha gets in her fake car in her house, Jen getting her magic and every single face Kathryn makes at all times haha
@@malakalanha Rio did not promise that. She promised to leave her alone if Billy turned himself in and to “not make her LIFE a living hell.”She also didn’t want to see Rio’s face when she died. There’s nothing there about not crossing over. Billy did turn himself in. Agatha took a risk that her inability to face Nicholas would make her a ghost. Rio hates ghosts. After Billy surrendered, Agatha had no reason to kiss death beyond saving Billy. She lied. She loved Billy and couldn’t let him die and even Rio believed Agatha loved him. The deal was not done to completion. Rio never got Billy. She demanded one of them. Agatha died. Her becoming a ghost had to do with unfinished business. It had nothing to do with their deal. As it ended, both Billy and Tommy stole second lives.
@@jondavwal13 Agatha: If I deliver Billy, you let me go. Rio: You will eventually die, Agatha. Agatha:But I want you to stop pursuing me. I want you to stop making my life hell. And when I die, a long, long, long, long, long time from now, I don't wanna see your face. Rio:Okay. So that's what happened. Agatha died by the kiss of Death but her soul wasn't collected. Rio didn't show up so now Agatha is a ghost.
A scene I think of a lot is when Billy asks Agatha about the sigil in episode 4, and when Agatha says “And before you ask ‘how’ in that curious voice, the answer is when they’re no longer needed” - then we later see Nicky asking a few ‘why’ questions (in that curious voice) - and after Agatha tells Billy this, he asks about Nicholas and how he died. He very clearly reminded her of Nicky throughout the show, but for some reason that specific exchange stands out to me. Another thing I find interesting is it seems Nicky never actually saw Agatha kill any witches, like when he stole the bell, he ran to the back of the house with the goat (although he may have seen her kill them after he died, like when he told Agatha ‘Mama, stop’ when she was draining Alice in episode 5) - the reason I find this point interesting is because she did the same with Billy in episode 2. She told him to go up the stairs while they summoned the road, so he wouldn’t see her kill them. It feels like motherly protection/shielding (in an Agatha way, at least). It makes me wonder about what her plan was with him after killing them all in her basement that night. I really enjoyed watching this series along with you!!! Your attention to detail is great, and your empathy for these characters is very nice to see. I hope to see you react to Heartstopper in the future :)
@@cole___17 Heartstopper will start this week! I already have episode 1 recorded and editing that next, I’m super excited to have you, welcome to the pack!
My impression is that the 3rd and final installment of this trilogy will be Vision Quest. Vision will meet up with Billie and I think they’ll find Tommy and then set out to find Wanda in the dimension she’s been residing in. This show was a MAJOR 2024 highlight for me. It had no right being as amazing as it was. Jac Schaeffer assembled an incredible team. My only gripe is that my gay little heart NEEDS more Patti LuPone.
I really wish all the next Marvel projects "grasp" me the same way this show did. It was f*cking amazing for real! And I'll agree as with all things we enjoy, when something ends it leaves a bittersweet feeling. You're glad to see a story finish but you wish it could go on and on and give you something more. As for favorite scene, while its very hard to choose one if I had to i'd say Tommy's reincarnation scene for me. Both Billy's question about killing a boy for his brother to live, and Agatha's response got me good. On a semi revelant note and kinda sorry to bring this here, but sadly boys do just die sometimes... Here in Greece the biggest news right now is of a 3yo boy passing away being shot to death due to a family vendetta. :( RIP

What I like about this show is it’s just a straightforward TV show, no weird gimmicks and everything, they just wrote it and wanna release for the plot. Very well written. I was the same, I rewatched episode 1-7 before watching the finale and kind of pick up the pieces but it still doesn’t makes sense in my head so this finale made it make sense to me at last and I like that, because yeah you can be lost but it’s very easy to pick it up if really paid attention to the show. A lot of shows now are into complicated plot and twist that didn’t realize people are just into simple things that are very well put together. Loved your reaction since episode 1!! So excited for your Heartstopper review & reaction!!!
I believe that they will be in Vision Quest. It starts filming next year and will probably be released before Avengers : Doomsday. I say that because, if Wanda is going to be a big part of the next 2 Avengers movies, most likely so will her family. Also, go give your son a big hug and kiss!
i assume agatha was giving bodies of the witches to rio as payment for more time for nicholas but on the day he decided not to help his mom kill and no body was given, death came for him. why she continued after? probably grief and trying to attain power to defeat death.
Its such a strong writing. The fact, that in a show full of female leads, women still die due to the rules and imagination of the one male...wow. That blew me.
I definitely think the purpose of Agatha's power greed was to be powerful enough to save Nicky. I go even further than that. Agatha take not only the Witch's magic but their life force. They probably were in a bad situation related to food giving their condition, and since now she has to not feed herself but a baby, i believe she was feeding baby Nicky with the life force she had stolen from the witches.
This is now my favorite Marvel TV show alongside wandavision and my favorite series of TV for 2024. Both seasons of loki are my second place and Miss Marvel and Moon Knight in third place.
I don’t think we can hold Billy responsible for any of the deaths. Agatha gathered the coven, not because ‘Teen’ asked her to, but because she knew the Salem Seven were after her because of her past deeds, and she wanted to steal everyone’s power to fight off the Seven. Agatha was the one who picked Sharon randomly when everyone insisted they needed a green witch, even though she wasn’t one. Its her fault, plus maybe the whole coven’s, for Sharon dying. Alice died only because Agatha killed her. Lilia died (or is she just in a time loop) to sacrifice herself to kill the Seven, who again were only chasing them because of Agatha. And Agatha admitted she planned to kill them all from the beginning, so the fact that at least Jen made it out alive means that Billy technically saved her. He shouldn’t feel any remorse for what happened, but because he does, it shows he’s a much better person than Agatha, who killed without ever concerning herself with feelings of guilt.
after 20 watchthroughs - I just realised as she was telling Nicholas she can't save him, she referred to the three powers of the modern coven - 'I can't heal you' (Jen) 'I can't protect you' (Alice) 'I can't divine when she will come' (lilia)
@ Yeah I’ve been working on a lot this past year hence the gap in content but I’ve come to not only accept my emotions and feelings but to be proud of it for making me who I am. @@MattheusSantos-sf3zb I’m super excited that they kept her around, I think Agatha will end up finding her peace through Billy and finally be okay with facing Nicky.
Considering who Wiccan is and his powers and Wanda’s they actually can fight death 😂 also the scene when Jen gets her powers back along with Joe finding a body for his brother made me tear up 😭
@@LS-tj2ho My theory is actually that Agatha only became the witch she did after Nicky’s death, I believe her intentions were to leave a trail of bodies to keep Death off her tail as well as power up to defend Nicky from Death. Then when he dies we see her turn into a sinister witch killer.
Dunno. Her mother said she was born evil and Agatha killed her. I don’t think she would’ve ever been able to fight Death. Cosmic entities are difficult to destroy if at all.
New Viewer - Love your spirit! There have been serious rumors that if they do the 3rd series of the trilogy will be called "Wiccan" - Unless they decided to just go with Agatha All Along 2 - Vision Quest is coming but I doubt Billy or Agatha will be in it so will not tie directly to Agatha - more of a tie in to WandaVision.
Or she is giving Rio bodies so that she doesn't take Nicholas, which is why the one time they didn't kill them he was taken that night. Either that or she was trying to get one of each type of witch so she could hopefully do those things like heal and divine when death would come but it never worked.
I would recommend going back and rewatching this series having the context you do now. You'll notice some things you missed before, you'll find some things funnier (like them arguing about the ballad and "coven two") and some things will be sadder (like Agnes looking into Nicky's room and seeing the choir award or Agatha watching over Billy after he's injured with sad, worried look in her eyes as if think Rio might take another boy from her)
@@SleepStarvedNerd I’ve started my rewatch and it definitely hits different now. The way they did it though was absolutely amazing though and waited to connect all the dots instead of just giving us the context
The Next chapter is Vision Quest that starts filming 2025. Although Jac Shafer (the creator of WandaVision and this show) is no longer involved. It will be based on Vision's comic by Tom King. It's soo good I recommend. In it Vision is having a identity crisis and trying to figure it out who he is. He even builds a new family made of synthezoids just like him. Part of the story was used In WandaVision since in the comic, Vision builds a life in the suburbs. The series will introduced Tommy, and rumor is that Marvel is interested in Javon Walton form Euphoria. And James Spader was confirmed to be returning as Ultron. There is also the Wonder Man series wich is set up for December 2025. He's a character that is part of a love triangle with Wanda and Vision in the comics.
My favorite moment will always be Lilia’s tarot reading of herself, the sequence, writing and the power of it. The death in all of MCU that hurt the most, yeah I’m in the minority that was meh on Tony lmfao.
52:50 My assumption has always been that “Avengers Doomsday” is just a rebranded mainstream-titled version of “Young Avengers: Children’s Crusade.” Billy and Tommy will reunite in the beginning and will lean into Tommy’s eagerness to find Wanda because his family doesn’t love him, he’s always been the mama’s boy in the comics. Billy doesn’t consider Wanda his mom in the comics. They’ll find Wanda being held by Doom and being coerced into a marriage after her memories were lost. Doom’s main goal in Children’s Crusade was to take Wanda’s powers but he was unsuccessful because it was not possible. But maybe, Doom will be successful this time which leads him to become God Doom in Secret Wars. I’d assume Agatha will need to help Billy to expedite his destiny and tap into his Demiurge abilities to help defeat Doom.
@@EM-fl5od Wanda is getting her own project and VisionQuest is the third act in the “wandavision” series. So my assumption is we will get Tommy and vision and end with looking for Wanda which will lead to her project
Agatha didnt change her mind about kissing death, she had to act "evil" and "selfless" so billy would change HIS mind about turning himself in to death, that's why she had to put up the evil mask one more time, and then she saved him on spot after that mind talk
I’m guessing they will fast track a Wiccan series to introduce Speed. One of the open spots where they haven’t announced what the movie is on the schedule is probably a Young Avengers movie. They probably didn’t want to specify with the movie. It was because it would spoil the coming of Wiccan and Speed. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 2026 release for both a Wiccan show at the beginning of the year and a Young Avengers movie toward the end of the year. After all, they are going to need to do it sooner rather than later before all of the younger actors age up to be too old to be playing the parts. I really hope the rumor of Kit Connor playing Hulkling is true because that would just be the chef’s kiss.
Okay, so do we really believe Lililia died? We didn't see her body of the three that died, and we know from Episode 8 that the Road whisks away those who get want they were looking for - if Lilila finally understood how she changed her fate, would she be whisked before being impaled? Also - how would have she known that Agatha needed to duck, if she wasn't present to "see" (even with her eyes through time), if not to be physically there?
@@JealdrinCMadrid my theory is that now that she’s put all the pieces together she gets to experience her life without all the gaps, but that could be interesting too if she disappeared after getting what she was looking for.
I think that’s what they were testing, to see how people would react then we may find out later he is, or something tragic happens to him and we meet the one who will be but idk Eddie is pretty close to Teddy so who knows.
I think the show gave us a little winking nod in the scene where Billy shows him the footage of the hex with the rune, Eddie asked if it was Aliens before Billy explains that it was magic.

the finale was underwhelming for me, but i enjoyed the show overall. i think after episode five it somehow devolved from agatha all along into billy maximoff all along and it lost my interest since i never really cared about his character. what got me intrigued into watching the show was wanting to see what would happen with agatha, i never cared about who teen was because he never really did anything for me, he just kinda ... was there. so when the show decided to sideline agatha in favour of making it about billy finding his brother i was like meh that's a bummer but oh well. i feel like towards the end it focused more on setting up the character of billy in order to put him in more future marvel stuff instead of focusing on the backstory or really anything else about the titular character, and it's so obvious to me that they were trying to do that and it just completely ruins the ending for me. five amazingly written female characters with complex backstories, personalities, and traumas to explore and you still somehow ended up making it all about the one male character in the end, lol. i would much have preferred for billy to not even be in this, for the road to be real, and to watch agatha find and eventually care about a group of witches, to come to terms with her grief over losing her son and to accept what happened and actually have some growth. especially given the queer themes of witches in general, it would've been a great queer found family kind of setup to watch progress, to watch agatha learn to live with other witches, to finally be accepted by other people, to learn that she doesn't always have to be alone. i'm not saying i want agatha to be a good guy- no, of course not. she's a villain, she's a bitch, and i like her that way, but still. queer found family trope except they're all pieces of work with their own issues but somehow form a bond together through everything would've been sick. “a witch requires a coven.” and all that, y'know? also the reveal that billy kind of 'created' the road in a way sort of ruined everything for me. it made me think of the "and it was all a dream" trope which i personally don't like anyway. i really liked the intrigue of the road, how it changed depending on the coven going down it, how each trial was supposedly personalised for each specific witch, the trials themselves helping each witch get over their greatest fears and accept something about themselves or overcome something that's hindered them- even the costumes connected to the specific trial and had some meaning to it. but then to find out- nope, it was actually just like that because it was a bunch of stuff billy liked that he had in his room ?? what ?? like, obviously i understand that the actual points of the trials were still tailored to the witches, but finding out that the visual themes had nothing to do with them kinda sucked for me when they were a big aspect of what i enjoyed about the road. idk, maybe i just don't like billy, but i think it would have been better to ... not sideline your main character halfway through the show. with all the interactions between agatha and rio and all the dialogue that hinted at their past, i assumed that we would get a more thorough backstory on them, since their relationship and history seemed like a big part of the show, but i think trying to make the second half of the show about billy ended up sacrificing a backstory for the two of them that would've been satisfying to see and learn more about. it feels like they had a lot of growth and possible reconnection through episodes 4 and 5 and then it just never goes anywhere and agatha goes back to hating her. i think a good example of what i'm talking about is the final fight between agatha and rio in episode eight. i think it would have been more compelling if, instead of billy even being there at all, we learned about rio's perspective on nicky. it would've been amazing to watch rio try and explain to agatha that nicky was her son, too, that she didn't want to just ... take him, but that she had no choice. it could've been super cool and super emotional to watch the two of them argue and fight over this, to see what grief can do to people, to realise just how much rio cares about agatha that she literally bent the rules of life and death because she loved her so much back then and still loves her now, to see rio try and get agatha to realise how blinded she is by her grief, that taking nicky hurt her as well ... to see agatha argue about how rio didn't even let her say goodbye to her son, that it would never have been enough time. having billy be the reason why agatha goes back just wasn't as impactful for me because there's so much material between agatha and rio that would've been much more compelling to see play out to me. all that negativity being said, i did really enjoy the show. i'll probably end up rewatching it, if only the first half and then episode seven as well. i didn't mean to write so much but i love to yap about this show and the ending just upsets me so i have to talk about why or else i'll go insane lol.
The show was never about Rio & Agatha. It was about Agatha and how she used other witches' deaths to prolong her life unnaturally because she was unable to deal with the death of her son. Through the road Billy created she had to confront the lies that she swapped the Dark hold for her son, and that his death was natural - it was never Rio's fault. Lorna Wu's song WAS wrong - it was coven of TWO not coven true. Billy became her number two because he reminded her of her son. It was all about Agatha all along.
I understand where you're coming from but they do have source material to work with and I feel like people who wanted a more lovey-dovey kind of relationship for Agatha and Rio don't really understand their relationship. I understand the perspective of sidelining your titular character but genuinely the show just isn't big enough to explore all of that and still be relevant to the overall plot of the MCU. You could argue that wouldn't be necessary but is kind of the core of these shows. As for the trials, I think he was subconsciously reading the witches minds which is why all the trials are very specific, also Agatha is guiding the road, fully implanting subconscious suggestions to Billy causing him to create the trials. I get why some people dislike Billy creating the road but that's just a specific aspect of his character, reality warping magic and created a good mystery. I think you've written an interesting different show but I feel like Agatha KNOWS that Rio didn't want to take Nicky. Rio isn't a person she's the incarnation of the concept of death, both Agatha and Rio know that and arguably is what makes their relationship work, Agatha is enamored by death, she brings it everywhere she goes and Rio likes the attention and the chase. However, Agatha has always been running from death, defying death, refusing death and so there really was no other way for their relationship to pan out. If you don't view Rio as a human and instead view her as a force of nature, you can't defy nature forever. Rio allowing Agatha SO MANY chances to avoid death is how they show love, deep emotional and thoughtful talks aren't really either of their forte.
"Sometimes boys die." is probably the best performance from Kathryn on this show. It's so genuine and heartbreaking.
And then rubbing Nicky's lock of hair on her face to feel him again 😭
Kathryn also said in an interview that before she left to start filming, her family, knowing absolutely nothing about the production beforehand, gave her locks of their hair in a locket so they could be close to her while she was away and she always kept it tucked underneath her costume the entire time.

@@fabriciogamer2.036 That was soo sad!
Absolutely, it's definitely one of those hte more you watch the more you catch shows and I LOVE IT! 😁
Edit: Ah, someone else commented this theory, but I'm just going to leave this here:
I heard a theory a little bit ago that I liked a lot.

@@darkymoonlight1570 Welcome to the Pack! This one was tough for sure, really hits ya in the feels.
It makes me wonder about what her plan was with him after killing them all in her basement that night.

i assume agatha was giving bodies of the witches to rio as payment for more time for nicholas but on the day he decided not to help his mom kill and no body was given, death came for him.
why she continued after? probably grief and trying to attain power to defeat death.

Absolutely
14:31 billy knows Alot about witchcraft unlike wanda! Hmmm intresting.
We saw that William was also into witchcraft so maybe that played into his interest in learning the 3 years before meeting Ralph

I’m so happy to see someone else that enjoyed Ms. Marvel! I thought it was a nice and fun change of pace.
@@graphiquejack Very well said
after 20 watchthroughs - I just realised as she was telling Nicholas she can't save him, she referred to the three powers of the modern coven - 'I can't heal you' (Jen) 'I can't protect you' (Alice) 'I can't divine when she will come' (lilia)

Dunno. Her mother said she was born evil and Agatha killed her. I don’t think she would’ve ever been able to fight Death. Cosmic entities are difficult to destroy if at all.

Okay, so do we really believe Lililia died? We didn't see her body of the three that died, and we know from Episode 8 that the Road whisks away those who get want they were looking for - if Lilila finally understood how she changed her fate, would she be whisked before being impaled?

the finale was underwhelming for me, but i enjoyed the show overall. i think after episode five it somehow devolved from agatha all along into billy maximoff all along and it lost my interest since i never really cared about his character. what got me intrigued into watching the show was wanting to see what would happen with agatha, i never cared about who teen was because he never really did anything for me, he just kinda ... was there. so when the show decided to sideline agatha in favour of making it about billy finding his brother i was like meh that's a bummer but oh well. i feel like towards the end it focused more on setting up the character of billy in order to put him in more future marvel stuff instead of focusing on the backstory or really anything else about the titular character, and it's so obvious to me that they were trying to do that and it just completely ruins the ending for me.
five amazingly written female characters with complex backstories, personalities, and traumas to explore and you still somehow ended up making it all about the one male character in the end, lol. i would much have preferred for billy to not even be in this, for the road to be real, and to watch agatha find and eventually care about a group of witches, to come to terms with her grief over losing her son and to accept what happened and actually have some growth. especially given the queer themes of witches in general, it would've been a great queer found family kind of setup to watch progress, to watch agatha learn to live with other witches, to finally be accepted by other people, to learn that she doesn't always have to be alone. i'm not saying i want agatha to be a good guy- no, of course not. she's a villain, she's a bitch, and i like her that way, but still. queer found family trope except they're all pieces of work with their own issues but somehow form a bond together through everything would've been sick.
Episode 9 was an epilogue. To put it in Marvel terms think of it as an extra long post credit scene.
