    Agreed. As expected, Charlamagne droppin' science on ya'll. Justin Timberlake hands down is a household favorite just like MJ was and still is. Chris Brown is talented no doubt. I'm a CB fan. He sings really well, he's a phenominal dancer, and I feel that he has longevity in the game as long as he cleans up his image a little more, but JT supercedes him because he speaks to the both the mature and the young audiences alike. CB is only appealing to one that I see. To put it to you like this, I'd rather my daughter jam out to the 20/20 experience than "These hoes ain't loyal". It is what it is. My opinions people.

      +Jio'vanni Delvalle I don't know if that's true or not but even if it is, so what, MJ was SO much more than a pop singer. He revolutionized popular music. He broke barriers and blended his style into nearly every genre of music. Chris Brown won't stand the test of time like Michael has. No disrespect to Chris though, I still think he's immensely talented.

    Coming from a musician, not a biased listener who doesn't know what they're talking about. Justin does make better music. He has more soul, and he's way more put together than Chris Brown. Every time I hear Justin's music, it is reminiscent of Michael Jackson's glory days. If you can't see it now, you will over time. But as far as Chris Brown goes, he's another gimmick. Justin hasn't put out in album in nearly 10 years, Chris Brown has numerous records, when he could have took the best songs off of everyone of those records, and made a great pop record. Which is what Justin has done on all 4 of his albums. He wanted to make good music, and he took his time, worked on it, made an amazing double-album that stands up against Justified and FutureSex. Musicians that are in it for the music always come out on top.

      Anybody with talent can do that. R.Kelly did it, MJ could have done it, and Chris can do that also, but there's no reason for him to do that. Why would you purposely NOT put out music if you have hit records in the vault?. Maybe JT didn't have anything new at the time or maybe he was busy with something else. You don't win by doing nothing.

      +Mary Jane you're completely off base. So you mean to tell me 25 years from now, people will still be listening to songs like, "These hoes ain't loyal"? Or better yet "Ayo" or "Look at me now"? LMFAO. Really think about that.

  • @RizzieCS
    @RizzieCS 10 років тому +2

    Real live if you look at the vocal skills of either, JT has been consistently good, whereas CB was shoddy when he first came out. He obviously got some coaching and is incredibly better, but he has a long way to go to be on par with JT.
    While JT may only have a few albums, he has been doing music since the 90s. He's been doing music since before CB was close to relevant, and he has been dominating in Pop ever since. Not only that he has the added bonus of being multi-talented as well as universally accepted and appreciated. CB doesn't even consistently put out an outstanding type of music. And by that I mean, that while he has an easily recognizable voice, he does not make music that strikes me as uniquely CB. When Michael Jackson made a song it oozed his own personal style. When JT makes a song, it does the same; you know who he is as an artist and you know what he's going to bring to the table. All CB is really bringing right now, besides the drama he uses to stay in the public eye, is catchy music.
    At the end of the day, they are both incredible artist who could both benefit from growth and improvement. Neither of them are perfect, and they wouldn't ever be because perfection is humanly impossible. However, JT makes it a point never to disappoint. He may not release an album every year, but every album he releases is outstanding. The day that CB begins producing music that has both that unique quality and the same level of time and effort, we can talk about him possibly being the king of anything.

    Justin Timberlake is not that good. I remember him back in the day changing the way he spoke when he was on BET than on MTV. He would intentionally speak "urban" talk and misplace words to identify with Blacks and that disgusted me. He was also weak for blaming that Janet Jackson incident all of her and running like a weakling. Never have and never will respect JT.

      You know when you have a clean background, they let things like this side. I like his first albums but as a person I fuck with with until that Super Bowl, after that I never give two fucks for him ever again. Chris could still get himself together but he has to make the choice himself and also he need to remove himself from everyone including his mother. I wish Michael had a hold of him before he died, I believe he would of gave him a good pep talk.

  • @alizafar5072
    @alizafar5072 10 років тому +81

    As far as I'm concerned, just because MJ died doesn't mean his crown is up for grabs. It really isn't even down to matter of opinion, it has to do with solid facts. Unless someone comes along and beats his records for best selling album, most grammies earned in a night, biggest concert audience, the list goes on. Until they are able to conquer that, then they gotta settle as 'Prince of Pop'.
    Timberlake could accurately hold that title, except he isn't as naturally gifted of a dancer as Chris Brown, so he has competition with Chris regarding that title, but as far as being the King is concerned, you gotta knock MJ off his throne and that's not going to happen.

    Here's the problem...Charlamagne is comparing SUCCESS rather than RESEMBLANCE....i looked at some JT videos the other day and i saw BARELY anything he did that reminded me of MJ.....i looked at some CB videos saw ALOT of things that made you think of MJ...even people made comments saying how they thought of MJ....those videos are.....
    ''Yea 3x''
    ''Fine China''
    ''With You''
    ''Turn Up The Music''
    ''Sweet Love''
    ''She Ain't You''
    ''Forever''
    Another thing i noticed is that CB is more creative because ALL of his videos look completely different than the previous one...JUST LIKE MJ.....when Charlamagne said...''Name a classic Chris Brown album'...he was basically saying.....''Whoever has more album sales is more like MJ''......that's like saying that if LeBron win 6 rings...he's more like Jordan than the guy that's flying in the air with 0 rings.....the guy that's flying in the air will REMIND you of Jordan and is MORE LIKE Jordan than the guy with 6 or 7 rings....so him saying that JT is more like Michael Jackson because he's more SUCCESSFUL than CB is stupid.....you have to look at other things....and everybody knows that 90% of albums have at least 2 or 3 hits..and the rest of the songs are crap....i'm pretty sure 20/20 Experience,Justified or FutureSex/Love Sounds didn't have ALL HITS...and neither has CB's albums....and to be quite honest...CB has more music AND more Hits than JT....he has a total of 21 hit records before the age of 25...imagine what's going to happen in the next 10 years....JT CAN'T TOUCH Chris....Chris will trump EVERYBODY once he gets his ish together.....Chris is more like MJ DESPITE his personal life.

    Vlad just contradicts his own argument...
    Charlamagne: "Name a classic Chris Brown album"
    Vlad: "I focus on the singles", in other words he doesn't know any or think they're anything special, and suggests Chris's worth is in his singles. But then in the next point, he goes on to say "Well Chris Brown puts out more records"... But you've just rendered his records a useless attribute, so the quantity means nothing.. and reinforces the point charlamagne makes that pound for pound, the material JT puts out is better than anything Chris Brown is doing. That's the Michael Jackson factor.

      In *shortest* terms JT>CB, but I wanted to highlight the contradictions here, the guy is trying to say Chris brown is better for this and that, but then going on to say that 'this and that' aren't where his value lies.. it cancels itself out. his worth eats it's own tail.

      ***** Album sales don't tell the whole story I agree, but in my opinion no one will come close to Michael Jackson in our lifetime. He was a performer at an age some kids couldn't even read. It's literally illegal to train someone to be of MJ's caliber by the time they're in their 20s (forcing him to rehearse routines, sing in strip clubs, train your vocals or else you get beat up by your dad) this is important because if you're not a famous pop star by the time you're 30 it's over. By the time he was 24 and released Thriller it could not have been at a more optimum time- the 80's. I can't see an era anytime soon that will rival the excess, hedonism, celebrity worship and homogeneity that is the 80's. Also the fact that Thriller is a fucking masterpiece.. but that kinda goes without saying.

    I feel if anyone would be compared to MJ, it would be Usher (with longevity, dance and singing ability) or Bruno Mars (amazing compositions and writing, singing ability). You don't have to sound like MJ to follow his legacy. I love Justin Timberlake, but I feel Usher is better than him in everything except acting.
    I also feel like Justin Timberlake is getting the "Elvis" treatment (I hate to say appropriating; I will just say he is benefiting from singing black sounding music while being white). Of course he can wait almost a decade between albums; he is white! White people are going to buy his music, regardless if its been a year or 20. Unfortunately, White people can have quality music and it sells. Let a Black artist put out a great R&B record and it will flop (Jazmine Sullivan's newest album was genius!). We are still shucking and jiving for these people. Beyonce's ratchet Self-Titled sold like hotcakes but her more raw and introspective R&B 4 was her lowest selling album. Things like this need to be kept in mind when people complain about Black music. White people are not going to buy smart black music because they want to experience something black and they think that is twerking, drugs, hoes, cash and great beats. And you won't get rich or get that 'cross-over' appeal if you don't have a White fanbase.

      You're so right, because when Chris came out he was damn near untouchable, the whole doublemint gum commercial days where he damn near had a spotless career. I remember people used to think he was perfect musically TILL that Rihanna situation happened, then all these Feminists and Females started hating him and acting as if he beat them too rofl...He had to apologize to the world for a situation that had nothing to do with the world.

I don't listen to pop, but it's always good to have genuinely good people in music(regardless of race). But when he decided to go thug life, he played himself and everyone that supported him. Justin Timberlake is like Prince. An amazing talent and has had a few great songs but needed a few more classics to be become king. They never quite lived up to their potential. Perhaps Justin needs to team-up with Pharrell again to get there or maybe Mark Ronson.

      Riley Jones Sure, while Prince was a mogul in music (mostly in the '80s), I think he had the talent to be up there with MJ and Elvis as 'the greatest ever'. While Prince had some great hits of his own, his music was seen as a little too quirky for mainstream. If he also teamed-up with big producers and songwriters, he could have stayed in the charts through the '90s, '00s and '10s. Prince had his own way of doing things though and I guess didn't want to compromise himself to stay in the spotlight.

      Adrienne S. When was the last time Prince was in the charts? He never stopped releasing music. MJ's album sales dropped towards the end of his career but he never went off the map completely. I'm saying with Prince's talent, he could have been as big as Michael, if Prince was more open to collaboration.

  • @50f13171
    @50f13171 11 років тому +5

    There's also a difference in genres when it comes to these two guys. Chris' diversity is way bigger than Justin's. Justin mostly does pop-music. That's why I love listening to Chris Brown - because you have "all" genres in one person. CB sold 8.000 tickets in Denmark last november - JT sold 45.000 tickets in Denmark this october. So when it comes to "idol status", JT wins, but he has also been in the game for a longer time. I wish both artists the best of luck in the future!

    I've followed Chris since he first came out. Personally, I think his first album is a classic. Young Love, Yo (Excuse Me Miss), Say Goodbye, etc.
    I don't know much about JT's music but he's crazy talented as well. If I had to judge who was closer to a MJ level I'd say JT. Because, honestly, I don't think Chris Brown even want's that title anymore. He seems more interested in female drama, smoking weed, and acting like a jackass in general than convincing the world that past mistakes won't prevent him from being the next MJ. JT has tunnel vision. He is out here working hard and avoiding the drama and the bullshit.
    Right now, it just seems like JT wants it more. But that's just my opinion....

    • @sycko8

      I agree with pretty much everything,
      except that Chris Brown's debut is a classic. To me, it's a poor man's Usher Confessions;
      Yeah > Run It,
      Burn > Say Goodbye,
      Caught Up > Gimme That,
      Throwback > Yo,
      Bad Girl > What's My Name.
      Chris Brown's 2nd album Exclusive is a classic though. Kiss Kiss, With You, You, Nice, Throwed, Take You Down, Wall To Wall, etc.

    What JT has over Chris Brown is that JT is a pure entertainer. The guy can do comedy, he can act, he can sing, he can dance, anything that correlates with entertaining people Timberlake can do it. Chris Brown can sing and dance, and thats fine thats what he's good at especially dancing. But he can't touch Justin Timberlake in terms of overall talent. JT is just too multi dimensional of an entertainer. Theres a reason Brown has a net worth of $22 million and JT is worth $100 million. Plus Brown will always have that Rihanna shit behind his back (not saying I care I love his music)

      Nahh man, like what? He's a pure musician/dancer. To do stuff other than music you need to be very well spoken, funny, smart, and people outside your business gotta like you. Watch his interview with the breakfast club and you can see that he'll never be someone who's hired to talk his pronunciation isn't sharp enough when he's not singing. He won't be acting or doing comedy ever, those are two different arts. Nd by THEY i hope you don't mean the man or the illuminati, cause that'd be dumb. Dudes loaded he has enough money to do whatever he would be able to do if he could.

    Charlmagne is definitely right about JT's album. I can listen to all his cds fully but when it comes to Chris Brown I only can listen to some of his hit songs. I do agree that if artists work on their craft they can become great and JT is smart for staying true to his craft and sticking with the same people.
