Thanks Michelle! Great tutorial and an excellent tip on customising colours. Your method is much easier to colour larger quantities of paper in one go. Do you have any tips on "water proofing" crepe paper flowers? Sorry if you have a tutorial on this. I have just accidentally found you and I am being impatient. Thanks again! Looking forward to watching your other videos.

Hi Jane! You’re very welcome, I’m so glad you found it helpful. In my experience it’s very tricky to make paper flowers actually waterproof, but you can definitely help to make them ‘splash proof’ or ‘damp proof’ (to an extent)! I’d recommend you try painting on mod podge to create a coating. That’s probably going to give you the most water resistance, but you’d need to be really careful to make sure every bit of paper is covered with no gaps. The downside is that mod podge works best on leaves or on flowers with only a few, easily accessible petals. So it depends what flower you’re making really. If you’re doing something like a peony, it’s going to be VERY difficult to cover those in mod podge because they’re so intricate. (Personally I wouldn’t attempt that) Whereas it would probably be fine on a hibiscus for example. The other thing you can try is a UV protection spray, I really like the Krylon one but I know it can be difficult to find, depending where you are in the world. That gives less protection than mod podge would, but is MUCH easier to use, as you can just spray the whole flower once it’s finished. It does provide a layer of protection, it is unlikely to make paper fully waterproof, but might be better than nothing. Sorry I don’t have a better answer for you on this one, I’d love to find a way to be able to have more outdoor flowers myself!

@@TaMuchlyPaperBlooms Thank you so much for replying so quickly! I found your video recommending Krylon UV protection and will try and find it here in the UK (I've gone the other way - I am a Canadian living in Devon now and have been here for almost 20 years!). I will try both mod podge and Krylon UV. I would like to make a Autumn or Halloween wreath with eucalyptus leaves and other crepe paper foliage and not many actual paper flowers so maybe it will last on my door. Worse case scenerio, it will be a scary Halloween wreath. Thanks again! Take care.

Hi Jane, sorry it's taken me a little while to get back to you. Did you have any joy with the mod podge and/or UV spray? I found a UK stockist for the UV if you haven't managed to find any - www.techsil.co.uk/krylon-uv-resistant-matte-clear-11oz Hopefully as you're mainly making foliage, it should be easy enough to use the mod podge, and who knows maybe you'll be able to get more people into halloween decor if not! I remember it not really being much of a thing when I lived there, but I love how everyone goes all out with the halloween decor in Canada! Certainly in my neighbourhood at least!
