I saw this video probably close to 11 years ago when she posted it, and I still come back and watch it at least one or two times a year. I just love this music so much.
Listening to these songs being performed on piano, they feel so much more like music from the time period when the game is set. Not just the instrumentation, but the melodies and tempo, etc. Gives me that much more respect for the composer. Thanks for such a lovely performance!
I remember struggling with the train stage as a kid. I retried it a few years ago and it still wasn't a piece of cake. The game should get way more recognition.
you know that::::::::::::::::: Little Nemo is a fictional character created by American cartoonist Winsor McCay. Nemo was originally the protagonist of the comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland. The full-page weekly strip depicted Nemo having fantastic dreams that were interrupted by his awakening in the final panel. The strip is considered McCay's masterpiece for its experiments with the form of the comics page, its use of color, its timing and pacing, the size and shape of its panels, perspective, architectural and other detail. Little Nemo in Slumberland ran in The New York Herald from October 15, 1905, until July 23, 1911; the strip was renamed In the Land of Wonderful Dreams when McCay brought it to William Randolph Hearst's New York American, where it ran from 1911 until July 26, 1914. When McCay returned to the Herald in 1924, he revived the strip, and it ran under its original title from Aug 3, 1924, until December 26, 1926, when McCay returned to Hearst. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Nemo
Great job!!! You made my day!!! You did stellar work!!! Little Nemo was one of my favorites growing up!!! Today Little Nemo is celebrating it's 107th anniversary!!! Thank you for an excellent job!!!
Wow after only 5 seconds I had to lean my chair back, close my eyes, and drift off into a simpler time. Such great memories of growing up with classic games. Thank you for this!
You didn't start with the opening dirigible sequence? 😭 No 2nds in the flower garden? Your chord progression for the train stage was all over the place, but you're allowed artistic license... Midnight Sea was nice. Music for Nemo's house was always one of my favorites... like the inclusion of rolling arpeggios... Cloud Ruins was nice! Topsy-Turvy was also one of my favorites! You slowed it down. I like the melancholy flavor this adds. Reminds me of Satie's 2nd Gymnopédie. Like the Latin take on Nightmare Land. Wow. Boss battle was perfect!!! No end sequence either... I mean it was pretty well done, but those opening and sequences really made the game for me. Don't stop!
Time and time again, you manage to totally mesmerize me with your voice, smile and playing the piano like it's the only instrument in the world that matters!
Thank-you James! I love hearing that that other folks out there have played Little Nemo the Dream Master! I'm used to people having no idea what I'm talking about when I mention it, haha... but yeah, it was definitely a great game :) Super creative and fun.
I come back to this video every once in a while and I really love it! I think I didn’t heard the song since I was a kid when I first saw this medley. The feeling was so powerful, so memories came back it litteraly melt my heart, the songs are great and the way you play it is so simple and cute, just thank you for this many years later
Ooh! I love Litte Nemo! It's one of the first games I remember playing. My big brother had a NES, and this was one of my favorite games. As with all Capcom games the music was superb, and your versions are just as wonderful! Thank you, can't wait for more videos!
Laura, thank you very much for making me remember this game. I wouldn't imagine myself ever thinking about playing this game if you hadn't put up this vid. More nostalgia pretty please!
Omg, I *LOVED* this game as a kid. It's been so long I wouldn't have been able to even guess at how the songs went, but as soon as you started playing the level songs it's like something clicked and all the memories of the game came rushing back. Thank you for posting this video :)
It's so cool that you can do all of this from memory... very impressive! You've made me really want to play the game too! I'd never even heard of it until today. It looks very odd!
You just made my day, I loved this game and the movie it was based off of when I was younger, And I totally agree Nemo's house was a very tough level. The Game in general was a tough game. Its amazing that you are playing this all from memory, When you said you were playing it by ear I could barely remember the game let alone the music, but as you played I could remember every level from your songs, so thanks for making my day.
I played this game years ago as a kid. It's always good to see someone else that knows of the game. I never could beat it though. Train level was tough for me.
AHHH! I spent months wondering through that damn house before finally figuring out that I was supposed to get that blue mouse and destroy that white wall.
I'd say this is one of your best videos. Such soft piano sound and you captured all the awesome details of this soundtrack perfectly. Ich bin molto impressionato!
Wow this really took me back since this was one of the NES games I had back in the day and still have. Also I'm floored that you're playing this by memory, especially how fluidly everything flows. Another great video and another great trip down memory lane. Perhaps this one might be coming out on the next Retro Game Night but I doubt we'll get too far with how hard this game is. >.
100% Nemo's house was definitely the stage that gave me the most trouble when I played this game as a child. The water stage, nightmare land and the ending are my favorite themes...Nice Vid!
I only played this once as a kid at Mervyn's (department store) but always remembered that, it was fun and I got through a lot of it that time. Thanks for posting, good job
Just beautiful. You just about brought me to tears. From memory? Damn. Thats really good. Well on top of having a good memory those nes tunes were so well made the melodies would imprint themselves onto brain matter. Bravo.
I loved this video Laura! you are awesome and now one of my favorite videogame composers, right there with Uematsu-san, ms. Shimomura, Mitsuda and others. I hope you get to compose many many more soundtracks for us to enjoy, and meanwhile also more piano improvs ^_^ You just have to see my face when I see one of these on my sub box, smiling from ear to ear :)
A lot of people knew about Secret of Mana, ... and I'm not sure about the obscurity of the game, but my favorite game for any system ever is Secret of Evermore. I couldn't play Little Nemo: The Dream Master my way out of a paper bag. I'm guessing I was about 5 or 6 when I played Nemo. Secret of Evermore is a sort of barebones RPG (SNES) that has the simplicity of an old school game, cool story, cool graphics, and my favorite spell casting system for any game. Just a boy and his dog.
Simply Incredible! The only bad part about the video is the apology at the beginning. Shame on you for even slightly doubting your abilities! Amazing work and looking forward to future videos.
@supershigi - The most obscure game I played growing up was a game called Rygar, that I never really understood. I think it was a Tecmo game, but it was a lot of fun to play. =]
you are my hero! Beautiful work. Also, Nemo did not kill anything with the scepter, he made them jump off the screen is all! He's only like...6...he doesn't know what kill is. I hope...
@supershigi Laura, have you ever seen the movie that this game was based on, Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland? Great movie, a hidden gem. Big part of my childhood. Never played the NES game though. Was shocked when I discovered there was a game based on one of my favorite nostalgia inducing movies. Will play eventually.
I never heard of this game before but after listening to its music from your piano improvisation I think it's worth checking out! And oh, so you played Street Fighter II as well, huh? You should make a piano improvisation of your favorite stage in the game too! :D
I never actually played that game, but I checked it out on youtube. I am totally going to DL an rom. I always hated how hard NES games were.... but I'll give it a shot.
Well done Supershigi ! Dont forget on Topsy Turvy level, as the bgm does in the two first chords , wich are : fourth maj 7 , and tonic with the 11# , thats make it sounds really oniric ! =)
@supershigi I can't believe you played that entire piece by ear... Beautifully done! =] I have a few requests if you're up for it! My first is Sunlight Filtering Through the Trees from Tales of Legendia. Really you could do any song from the soundtrack because they're all beautiful but that one has a piano melody. The second is Maya's theme from Persona 2: Innocent Sin.
I saw this video probably close to 11 years ago when she posted it, and I still come back and watch it at least one or two times a year. I just love this music so much.

my grandma' sacrificed a lot to get me this game, when i was a young one' LOVE IT
Grandfather always got us that one thing we wanted... I wanted little nemo:)
This game's soundtracks are so romantic. My favourite childhood game :'( you are wonderful

I just played this for the first time during quarantine, but hearing you breeze through all these, it feels like I've always known them ♫♫♫♫♫♫
Wow after only 5 seconds I had to lean my chair back, close my eyes, and drift off into a simpler time. Such great memories of growing up with classic games. Thank you for this!

I too played this game as a kid...Nemo's House music is hauntingly awesome! Wow, how nostalgic!! Nice job!!!!
Excellent! I have always loved this soundtrack since the early 90's when I first played this game. You obviously have great taste!
Thanks for sharing...very cool insight to the gaming world...hell, we only
had the 'blip...blip...blip' from the game Pong when I was a kid...OMG
Thank-you James! I love hearing that that other folks out there have played Little Nemo the Dream Master! I'm used to people having no idea what I'm talking about when I mention it, haha... but yeah, it was definitely a great game :) Super creative and fun.

You're so sincere. It's like my soul took a shower. And then the song itself. Graci.

The music from the topsy-turvy level is probably my all time favorite song from a video game. Thanks for this
I've listened to this girl talk for 30 seconds and I already love her. Adorable. You had me at "huge Capcom fan growing up"
I really enjoy listening to how people interpret these shared childhood experiences.
Laura, thank you very much for making me remember this game. I wouldn't imagine myself ever thinking about playing this game if you hadn't put up this vid. More nostalgia pretty please!

I love that you talked a bit about it at the start of the video, added a little extra to the beautiful playing! :)
AHHH! I spent months wondering through that damn house before finally figuring out that I was supposed to get that blue mouse and destroy that white wall.
I'd say this is one of your best videos. Such soft piano sound and you captured all the awesome details of this soundtrack perfectly. Ich bin molto impressionato!
Damn, I am late to this one. Played this game a lot as a kid. Thank you for being one of the few people out there to give its music any attention!
Wow this really took me back since this was one of the NES games I had back in the day and still have. Also I'm floored that you're playing this by memory, especially how fluidly everything flows. Why do you play all the songs from my childhood?! Are you psychic?
Either way, please keep doing what you do. It moves me. =)

I have to say the Topsy turvy theme is my favourite. You made it your own!

So gorgeous music so cute girl played 🥰🥰🥰
Beautiful... thanks for sharing such wonderful memories =D
Wow. I wish had a partner who was just as into video games and VG music like you are..
The creator, Junko Tamiya, made the tunes on a piano before converting it to a 8-bit version. Pretty cool ^^
I've still got the cartridge for this game.
Mushroom Forest had a great song in the background.
Megaman 1 - 2, Bionic Commando, games with *great* music and gameplay
One word - WOW!!
I love it!
Such a great game.
I never heard of this game before but after listening to its music from your piano improvisation I think it's worth checking out!
And oh, so you played Street Fighter II as well, huh? You should make a piano improvisation of your favorite stage in the game too! :D
I love this so much you have made my day!! :)
