- When we brought Motor Yacht OLOH into our lives, a big part of the point was having an escape pod from the cold and snowy northeast winters we had endured for so many years. When the pandemic unfolded and everything was up in the air, we wondered how much winter we'd have to "enjoy" before making our long-awaited return.
If we did make it back, we knew there would be a lot of prepping and checking of systems before we would be comfortable getting back underway. And maybe a couple of cocktails in the mix 😎

What a fantastic video. We sat down and watched with a drink with you. We thought the bell was ringing in part for us, as we still feel trapped back in Canada. Our boat is in River Forest as well , but on the East side. We could feel your excitement when you arrived. Thanks for ringing the bell for us. We live on a motor cruiser in a marina on the Caledonian Canel in Scotland UK. The canal doesn't open for through traffic until 1 May. But boat work goes on. We are turning the boat from a pleasure, summer cruiser into a year-round liveaboard.
And thank you for coming aboard! It's always great hearing from boaters around the world, it sounds like you have a good plan going! The lifestyle can be quite satisfying, good luck with your endeavor!

I'm so glad I found you guys! I want to do this! I've been researching my options and educating myself as much as possible for the past 4 months, so I'll know what I'm looking for in a boat.
I'm 65 and single... with a lab mix drama queen dog! My kids aren't liking the idea of me being out there alone. We'll see how it goes. I may be stuck in a port when my son takes the keys!

Talk to boaters. Now that they'll be happening again, go to boat shows. And know that the boat that may seem like the right fit today will probably not turn out to be the forever boat. We make this trip every year from cental ny to fort myers every year.It usually takes us 14 hours to get to Santee South Carolina the first day.Its nice to leave the snow for a month and get away for a while

Lmao yup my wife and I had our boat hauled out on March 25 , couple days after they closed Ft Myers beach , sailed to Port Charlotte , mad dash for the Canadian border , it was like the walking dead , hardly any gas stations or food outlets open . Maybe get back in the fall of 2021

We drove straight through from the middle of Florida to New York and it was indeed like the walking dead. Thanks Glenn. Primarily the pandemic. It was hard to beat the safety and comfort level we felt being at home on land, but we warmed up to a plan to return to OLOH and put it into action. It just took a bit longer than we expected to land on that plan. Cheers!
Awesome road trip! -- QUESTION -- Can't believe that you don't like snow as it looks so so nice in this video. We love that SUV and want to get one just like it. Perfect amount of technology and without too much junk computerizationand large screens on it. Can you tell us the make and year / model ? Is it the 6.2 or the 5.3 V8?
Hi Coleen and thanks for watching! We do love the snow, for a bit, and agree it is beautiful... but we'd rather be on the boat in the sunshine and warmth. As far as the car seen in the video, it was a renal Chevy Suburban LT, probably a '20 or '21 based on when this was shot. No idea of the engine size. But this or any of the extra large SUVs are our favorite to rent for long road trips with lots of stuff. Hope that helps!
