Someone else said it best "this song does not sound depressing. it is the sound of depression". The way "What a Wonderful World" captures cheerfulness. Sublime.
I always heard a protest song. A simple protest song for free will and against capitalism that chains you like a slave. It's not their first and won't be the last one from Radiohead in this way.
I'd suggest Solace by Earl Sweatshirt or Peanut by him to hear the sound of depression. Pick a good time to listen tho
Nice
@@AngelRivera-de1lq hurt from NIN too
Ah, to be young again and listen to this for the first time once again...
I'm now middle aged in a BS job, in a country with a government that definitely doesn't speak for me
When this dropped in 1997, it blew everyone else out of the water. The album, OK Computer, is highly ranked on many "greatest album" lists.
It took me a while to discover Radiohead, too, but imho they're one of the most consistently great rock bands of the last few decades. My favorite Radiohead album is "Kid A" (from 1999), which I think is one of the best albums ever made.
Kid A is from 2000', gal.
@@duvan-solis That's right. My bad!
OK computer is definitely one of my favourite albums of all time!
@@duvan-solis I loved OK Computer and The Bends so when Kid A was released I was like -WTF?! I'm no connoisseur, so maybe I'm a little slow on the uptake, but Kid A is now one of my favourite ever albums. A masterpiece.
OK computer was inducted into the library of congress if that puts just exactly how good it was into perspective. Meaning the album was so good in the eyes of the general public that they needed to ensure that it would be safe for later generations to hear it.
I was 13 or 14 when this song came out. I was bullied at school and had crazy depression. I appreciate Radiohead so much more now that I’m older.
It's like a twisted lullaby; you can feel the lyrics but also be calmed by the manner they're delivered. One of my favorites from them.
I do love this one from Radiohead - anyone else try hold their breath when he does? 😉 TY Jay. Fake Plastic Trees is good too!
And High & Dry
I have absolutely tried to hold my breath along with him. Used to be able to, haven't tried it in years...10 or more.
@@TC_Smitty I can’t manage it!
@@meeshelle1397 every time but not on this video , considering the pause 😆
@@ForestFairywales 🤣🤣
I was a 16 year old teenager in 1997, and I was listening exclusively to cheap German techno and rave music at the time. Then I heard OK Computer and it opened my mind, changed my perception of music forever. So yeah, Radiohead! For further listening I‘d recommend Weird Fishes/Arpeggi from the In Rainbows album. There’s a live version on youtube (from the basement) that is just brilliant, you get to see and hear these five guys create something beautiful.
The Basement performance is very good but I love Weird Fishes from their Later w/ Jools Holland performance too.
Also the flaming lips
homie got like 4 lines in and was about to cry. me too bro. me too
One of the most beautiful songs ever written, up there with What a wonderful world...Thom Yorke is next level, can't wait for the new Radiohead album coming out in November!!!
Funnily enough, No Surprises was actually inspired by What a Wonderful World. I used to live in the same apartment block in Oxford as Philip Selway, and we became friends and he used to invite me and other friends to dinner to play us tracks he was working on (this was Kid A/Amnesiac era), and he recounted that WAWW was totally what they were trying to capture, but in their own way.
@@mauricesuckling639 wow, great info!
Such a sad song but so beautiful at the same time
@@mauricesuckling639 thats so cool, you were one of the first listeners to those albums
His voice makes you float
One of my favourite bands, please do ‘high and dry’ and ‘karma police’
He already got a video posted for Karma Police

The album “The Bends” is still my favourite album of all time.
Mine as well...!
Facts, that album is my favorite as well. I would say its definitely their most underrated album
Me too.
Still my favorite Radiohead album. As soon as the tremolo guitar part starts off on Planet Telex, I'm in heaven.
The way I was introduced to Radiohead was through the bends my older brother just came home from the mall with the cd once and I loved it immediately what I didn’t know was how much they would change
Songs from Radiohead that I would recommend for a reaction:
- Talk Show Host
- Exit Music (For A Film)
- Burn The Witch
- The whole In Rainbows album.
Marry me
Sing us a song...
A song to keep us warm.
There's such a chill. Such a chill...
Exit Music (For a Film) is my absolute favorite from them. 💜💜💜
Kid A Album is dope as well, Rainbows is beautiful.
This song is beyond the measurement of beautiful. It's not a song for everyone but you'll know instantly if its yours
Exactly
"Let down" and this are my top of Radiohead.
Let down is so underrated. Amazing song
“ Pyramid Song “ ,, a deep song
Should also check out Radiohead’s Exit Music (For a Film) 👍
A heart that’s full up like a landfill
Possibly one of the most underrated lyrics of all time
Its weird seeing poor Thom Yorke paused while he is holding his breath, Lol...
It's like he was waiting for you to stop talking and help him, haha!! This was the perfect closing track for a perfect album, OK Computer.
I wash dishes to OK Computer, if I get to this song, I know it has been a big meal with loved ones. That's a way to turn a difficult song into happiness. Or maybe I'm grateful to have the clean up done.
I don't even need to rinse the plates with tap-water. My eyes produce gallons of water enough to wash every plate clean
Lucky is my favorite song from Ok Computer!
A modern day lullaby for adults 😋 It's like we're told to strive for the ideal life, but that so called "perfect" life has no alarms and no surprises. You end up living a robotic existence. He's singing the song in a narrative way as if it's killing him inside to live this way. The music video is metaphorical. He's slowly drowning.
This one really gets you in the feels for sure!!! And it is definitely relatable. Your reactions are so organic!!!! Love em!
This song is awesome, another one you should check out by them is “fake plastic trees” :)
You need to do how to disappear completely from Radiohead it’s their best work imo
Yeah.
MORE RADIOHEAD PLS! MAJORITY OF REACTIONS STOP AFTER 3 OR SO SONGS BUT THERES SO MANY AMAZING RADIOHEAD SONGS! I SUGGEST, 2+2 = 5, EVERYTHING IN ITS RIGHT PLACE, WERID FISHES/ARPEGGI, WHERE I END AND YOU BEGIN (FROM THE BASEMENT). 💛💙❤💚💛
Radiohead fans (myself included) need to remember which Radiohead songs they instantly liked upon a first listen and suggest those instead of the classics which we've all come to love over multiple hearings. Bearing in mind, this is the first time these reactors will likely have heard these songs.
@@Music-tg5is I think the only song there that isn't accessible is Everything In It's Right Place.
@@radiofoot1035 I know but, it's easy to forget as Radiohead fans that many of our favourite songs tend to be growers rather than instant bangers for newbies. Probably one of the reasons why most reactors only listen to songs like Creep, Paranoid Android etc. Only the most obvious mainstream songs. To encourage them into the more abstract works, it might help to suggest songs which are more enjoyable to listen to for the first time.
In Rainbows/From the Basement is such an amazing performance! I was going to suggest that!
@@AngelaSmith-tz7wr truely brilliant.
They’re genuinely known for making depressing music, but it’s almost always beautiful, even when it’s at its most abstract. “How To Disappear Completely” is breathtaking
Always appreciate your sensitivity and genuineness 💕
Love Radiohead. Try: 'Street Spirit' too please!
Lots of older Radiohead song are worth checking out. Fake Plastic Trees has been mentioned, but also Street Spirit (Fade out)
I get so excited when you react to songs from the 90s. Love Radiohead! I would recommend Paranoid Android next. Great reaction 🙋🏻♀️🙌🏼👏🏼👍🏼💜🇨🇦
this is one of the most delicate songs ever ..... a real gem
I bought this album a day or two after it was released. I hadn't had much time to listen to it, but I was going to be taking a short road trip to a party with a friend who had just leased a new car so I could listen to it on the drive. Much to my dismay she only had a cassette player in that car.
RADIOHEAD IS A GENRE!!!
Great sentiments man.
I couldn't help but think whilst you were reflecting, "Thom's still holding his breath man!" Lol.
Great stuff 😁
Yep me too Love Radiohead ,,,,🌸
My favourite song of all time from my favourite album of all time
I think you’ll really like Fake Plastic Trees by them 🙂
Thom Yorke is mad cool. Try listening to: Lotus Flower, Paranoid Android, High and Dry, and Fake Plastic Trees. They’re great.
An amazing song. A social commentary as a lullaby. Radiohead, the best band ever
No alarms & no surprises please
Radiohead is indescribably amazing. Otherworldly, really. Yes, all of OK Computer. All of Radiohead. Another level. I first went in deep when The Bends came out. My boyfriend had the album Pablo Honey but although I liked it well enough, it wasn't any huge thrill for me. But The Bends started the shift to that next level. And then they just went higher from there, into spaces beyond this world.. And, yes, as others have said: listen to the full live recordings of In Rainbows From The Basement.
If you liked this, there are a lot more great songs of theirs that will make you feel just like this. Personally my favorite is Pyramid Song.
Love, love, love your reaction to one of my favourite songs. As you say their songs are so relatable as well as hauntingly beautiful. Worth checking out the film behind the video. He was so happy he managed to hold his breath! x
Oh yes! My faveorite band! ❤️❤️❤️
Nice. You should check out Just by Radiohead. But watch the video on that one as well.
Jovaughn, I'd love to see you react to their song "Talk Show Host." When those drums hit in the third verse...🔥🔥🔥!!!
One of the top bands ever. Very experimental, very influential. They are incredible.
GREAT reaction to a GREAT song of a GREAT band.
OK Computer is my all time favorite album, at this point you really should just put on your headphones and hit play from the beginning and experience the ride as it was intended.
I could recommend so many Radiohead songs, here’s a few:
High and Dry
Fake plastic trees
Airbag
The bends
Just
Street spirit (fade out)
Subterranean homesick alien
The national anthem
Everything in its right place
How to disappear completely
I can't listen to this song - I had that entire album on repeat on my headphones during a really difficult and strange time in my life and this song in particular went right to the core of me. now it's like insta travel back to that time and place - in fact, a couple of years ago, we started having radios playing in the office and this song suddenly came on. Had to sneak off to the ladies room to compose myself
This music is a piece of art!
I can't say enough about how much I love this band! This is a great track! How to disappear completely should be high on your priority list for next, but also check out
Jigsaw falling into place
Lucky
High and dry
Bloom
Fake plastic trees
15 step
Reckoner
Talk show host
Backdrifts
You get the idea lol, too many to list
Great song, one of my favs from Radiohead.
High and dry is my favourite radiohead song
Check out Black Star, You and who’s army and street spirit [fade out]. (If you haven’t.
My friend always calls this the ice cream truck song because I listen to it while on the phone with her lol.
I love this wonderful song. Very emotional, deep...for me the best from Radiohead! ✌❤
I love this song and video, this and Street Spirit are my favourite Radiohead tracks.
So happy you're listening to my favorite band ever! ❤️
This is a great song
You should really give ''you and whose army'' a chance you will really appreciate it!
I love the ''handshake of carbon monoxide'' line
Be careful where you pause the video man, the guy's holding his breath
I love Radiohead. An all time fav ☺
The greatest thing someone said about Radiohead is "they feel like they saw something terrible from the future and they are sad at how it is going to be. Their music is like a cry at our doom"
“Exit Music (For a Film)” please. It’s my favorite and an amazing song. Also, “Fake Plastic Trees” is awesome. 💜💜💜
Can’t love this reaction enough 🤗❤️
Love the way you describe how you are affected by the music. Heard you for first time 6 months ago well done and keep it up
They put something in this song istg, I cry every time I listen to it. Such a masterpiece
Radiohead have released some many great albums but The Bends will always have top place in my heart. When it came out, I was in love, I just lived and breathed it.
Let Down and Exit Music (For a Film) are also pretty great on their album OK Computer.
Like them...... a band am into at the moment is Travis (Scottish band, touring next year, been around 30 years, wow where does the time go ⌚), an old song Sing or newer one Kissing in the Wind or a good video is Re-Offender xxx ✌️
Almost any song from this album is epic it is one of those records that everyone should do an album review for.
I’ve always loved this song. It represents something so much more than sadness to me.
Great video! You should also react to Exit music (for a film), Fake plastic trees, Karma Police... (and so many more) :)
This video is Radiohead's equivalent of The Cure "Close to me",lol!.
Radiohead songs to react to:
Fake Plastic Trees, Pyramid Song, How To Disappear Completely, and Spectre
This is one of the most beautiful songs ever
Damn, look how long you made him hold his breath for! ;)
You should check-out a few of Radiohead's tracks from their 2nd Record "The Bends".
For something similar(ish) to "No Surprises" you should React to --
Radiohead ~ Street Spirit (Fade Out)
and it's a great Video.

Radiohead ~ Just
&
Radiohead ~ Fake Plastic Trees
And soon as... once you've finished Reacting to Radiohead, in your own time, go and listen to The albums in full ! They are outstanding, and need to be full appreciated.
"The Bends" and then "Paranoid Android" and then "Kid A" and then onwards and onwards...
.
They were a get college band before they were famous, saw them twice. So good!
Amazing song!
Please do Street Spirit!!!
This is probably my favorite Radiohead song. It's a special kind of gut punch.
This album changed my life back then
Great song Radiohead no surprises I love the beat so cool 😎
Dig deeper they r amazing 🌍✌
great song....love this ! :)
The best way to listen to Radiohead is to put the headphones on, go sit in your most comfortable chair, close your eye and listen to the whole album front to back.
I love radiohead more than my mrs just dont tell her.
Watching you watch this is everything 😍
I remember having this as my phone ringtone. One day I'd left it on at work when someone called me. That surprised people, did my alarm.
YASSSSS FINALLYYYYY OMG THANK YOUUUUU 😭
It sounds like a lullaby
It's perfect work of art👍👍👍
Their music is hauntingly melodic.
My favorite ❤️ 🙌 🙌 the rythm is "zen", relax 🧘🏽♀️ 👌 😁
It's one of those songs that won't be as emotional when you don't read the lyrics
Ok Computer is one of the greatest albums ever.. top 5 ever for me.
