David's voice is so perfect and versatile. I swear, he can do practically anything with it, from hard rock to romantic ballads to haunting falsettos. When he sings a'capella toward the end of this it is so captivating. I was reading comments while listening, but ended up stopping to devote my full attention to the song during the end portion because of how David's voice drew me in. This man has a gift.
"All ye madins, fair and tender, never trust the hearts of men. They will crush you like a sparrow. Leaving you to never mend. Little sparrow, little sparrow. Oh the sarrow never ends." I've been in that problem way to many times.
@Cheetaliciousa I would voice my concurance... But I would have to disagree.. Light On will get old after while... This song never gets old.. For me anyways. :P
@sindhupie Dolly wrote this enchanting little song - what a fantastic songwriter she is that so many diverse artists can sing her songs and they still ring true.
well the song is about a person talking to a girl... so a guy can sing it. dads warn their daughters about boys... big brothers warn their little sisters... its just a person trying to protect the little sparrow from getting her heart broken. I love both his version and the original, they both sing with emotion.

This is the moment in Idol season 7 when country music stars everywhere heaved a sigh of relief - thank goodness this guy wants to be a rocker. 😉
And us rock fans are thrilled to have him 💞
I love the urgency in his voice!
The inflections remind me of his version of Lionel Ritchie's 'Hello', as he brought a neat twist to a grat standard!
2021 and still wishing David Cook received the recognition and acclaim he deserves. Truly a special talent.
it's already 2017 but im still listening to this song.
I love David Cook, and his rendition of this song is perfect, such a cool voice, props also to Dolly Parton, thanks for posting it : )

it's kinda ironic that he said "never trust the heart of man" but the singer is male.

@sindhupie Dolly wrote this enchanting little song - what a fantastic songwriter she is that so many diverse artists can sing her songs and they still ring true.
@xblakeslady You do know that Dolly wrote this song, right. I agree that I love DC's version here - it's a great song and a great rendition.
