I have a sage one 3 wt 11 ft and i love a scout and mowtip and imow in the light series ..good video ..looks like your missing a retaining screw on your reel !! I have the same reel and i broke 2 screws ..my tought on that is left hand retreave on perfect are bad ...if you switch for rhr the problem will not happen ..the drum of the reel gets tighter when your palming it ...i fish for big atlantic salmon with that reel ..my tought on that !

Was literally just about to watch your guys past videos on trout spey, lol. Saw a guy catch a few on a trout spay at the holy water this morning. Pretty cool, definitely want to get into it!

Pretty damn cool for Salmonflies. Get's you into some lightly fished water up there once you get the hang of it!

Thanks for another great video guys, any idea on what the grain weight is for the airflo polyleaders?

Great question! i believe the 10' Salmon/steelhead leaders we mention in the vid are also in the 75gr range. Similar to Rio's SPEY versileaders.

Great video. Can a 11’ 3 weight with SA Skagit Lite head handle 10’ of T8?

I think you are on the edge there but it is possible. Going to depend on fly size etc. I would try to stay in 50 grains and below with that stick.

Ashland FlyShop many thanks. I only fish my trout spey once or twice per year in Oregon. I live in Dallas TX but moving to Redmond OR in 3 years. I'll call you next week and place an order for lines and sink tips. Hope to get a August OR trip? Your videos are great!

so i have a 4wt trout spey, just got it. I can use 10' of T8 but that is pretty much my maximal weighted tip i should use? everything below that should be good (iMOW T8 sectioned sink, and all replacement tips below #6?

I would say that's right around the max yes. You can push it a bit beyond that if it feels comfortable, but that's about as hard as we like to push our 4 wt's

Can we use sink tips on a traditional single hand setup with a WFF line like Rio Gold?

You want to use a polyleader or versileader (same thing, diff manufacturers) which is a tapered sink tip. Easier to cast. It's also easier if you have an aggressively weight-forward line to carry that mass. The Gold has a long, light head which doesn't work as well.

I have tried using the versaleader or poly leader on the Rio indicator line and it hinged very badly. It can do it but it's not smooth or enjoyable to do.
The big nasty might handle better, but they have similar tapers.
