- A softly spoken reading of The Little Mermaid. This bedtime story features occasional sound and vocal effects and soft singing to immerse you into the story. Note this is the traditional fairy tale which ends very differently from the Disney version, so be warned that most traditional fairy tales are not super happy endings.
I really hope you like it. Some parts are more soft spoken than others, and some parts get a little louder, because I had to record at a few different times in the middle of the night. This was a rather daunting recording to edit, as it’s the longest one I think I’ve ever recorded. I edited for at least 12 hours, and it's still not perfect, but I really hope it's good enough for you. I also experimented for the first time with some vocal effects, which I very much hope you like and umm, don’t dislike. Regardless of how much I tried to have a completely quiet setting, there were times when I didn’t notice motors running or the computer fan on, so I hope it’s still cohesive enough for your ears to enjoy. All around, there's a lot of hoping.
I wanted to bring a different kind of magic to this story separate from the Disney version (even though there is a nod to it somewhere), so I hope that comes through in this reading. The ending is a bit abrupt, but that’s how the story ends! Haha I tried to make it as little abrupt as possible.
I was searching for Mermish language on the interwebs and couldn’t find a full language, just bits and pieces. So I then looked for Elvish songs to incorporate into the story and happened to find a GORGEOUS song from an AMAZING channel that has all kinds of original Elvish songs. That’s so cool, isn’t it?! So I embellished a bit, and had mermaids singing in Elvish… because elves and mermaids are totally distant cousins, right? :P While I did sing the a'capella version in this video, all music and harmony credit belongs to the song composers, and I rearranged just a few lyrics to have it make sense with the context of the mermaids singing.

I was on the edge of my bed listening to your sweet voice tell such a tragic story. I couldn't fall asleep to this. Instead, I shed tears of sorrow. I can never watch The Little Mermaid again without thinking of this story. The thought of Prince Eric and Ariel not being together shatters my heart. However, this is by far my favorite audio-story. I just don’t understand. Are fairy tales NOT supposed to be for kids? Are they not told as bedtime stories? I will NEVER read this to my children, it would break their hearts. Disney version is a trillion times better. I see why they made their own version of fairy tales now.

@@jts2543 Im from Germany and every kid here hears most of the original storys and i can tell you that kids care less about things cruelity and sad stuff because they can relate less then adults do. I didnt like the original story of the little mermaid not when I was a child not because I was traumatized but because I coudnt really relate why she felt that way and I didnt get the ending... I woud still recommend it though when your child is more sensitive and smart enough to understand

I used this to fall asleep last night. It worked. I lasted 45 minutes before closing my 3DS, but the latest I remember is the wedding bells and I know I made it a little past that. Those bells gave me tingles when I heard them. Gotta thank you for this.

I'm severely epileptic and your fairytale reading videos have saved me from countless seizures. I don't even know how I came across them. I didn't realize they were uploaded so long ago. If they were old fashioned physical tapes records or vhs they'd be worn to pieces. I know every one by heart. I also use them to sleep. It's instantaneous for me. Your voice: sleep. I don't know if this story has it, or what I say is comforting or not, but there is a told ending, because the little mermaid became foam, she then became a lady of air, and she danced in the sky and met her real love, who was a gentleman of air.

I just love this. You have a lovely, relaxing and emotive voice. And this is my favorite Hans Christian Anderson story. It is a real pleasure to find this and very effective ASMR. I've listened to it twice and haven't made it to the end of the story yet, because I became so relaxed I've fallen asleep. I can't wait to play this story for my little 10yr old neice. Thank you!
