Just a reminder, decisions in previous chapters can impact things that happen in future chapters, even if they currently "don't matter". Take, for instance, telling Noelle about Susie eating chalk in chapter 1. It was irrelevant and funny then, but it changed a short interaction in chapter 2! Pretty sure it's "Your parents are weird" and Catti will agree. It's also "Lost sleep from Susie being my partner" or something very similar and Alphys mentions they said it with "no negative intonation at all", so that's not a good one either.
Hey Chiken, there’s a Fun little easter egg, that when you equip thornring, and go back a bit (dont fight berdly) you can find these mice, and when you use snowgrave spell they dont freeze, or they dont get Lost. They die. And that’s implying that berdly is dead, not in coma.
@@Chiken actually, seeing Burghley dead is what got me thinking. In the game theory, when only chapter one was out, they speculate that kris is just running a DnD game with the pieces you see on the floor, but it's probably more than that. Noelle's watch can move, and burghley (obviously) is dead. However, lancer and rouxls still appear as cards in the town, all the pieces from chapter one are people as well, and everyone who experienced the funky new world said it was like a dream, and Noelle believes Susie when she says that it IS a dream - unlike if they were actually being transported, or playing DnD. So it's like... some power of your soul, to create a mental world for these people to go to? 6:40 Yes, there's a video of someone clearing every single Pipis is the Pipis room. You don't get anything for it, and they all re-appear if you leave and enter the room again. 7:24 You can actually safely talk to Nubert without him returning in the end. He will only come if you get every single recruit possible. Queen even mentions it if you only save a few people, something like "Nubert said he would only come if everyone else did".
It's interesting that the second egg room is locked off in the Snowgrave route. As if the man that would usually give you the egg is disgusted with your acts and thinks that you are undeserving of his egg now.
4:30 So this little hole in the wall essentially is a "drop off" point for any Shadow Crystals or Extra Boss items that you somehow misplace. I see in the comments that you know you beat Jevil in your first file, so what *probably* happened was that you beat Chapter 1, loaded the save, went back and beat Jevil, but did not go back to your bed to sleep to "finish" chapter 1 again. When you sleep in your bed at the end of Chapter 1, it creates "completion data" which is the file that's actually carried over to Chapter 2. If you go back and do stuff in Chapter 1, you have to sleep at your bed again to update the end-chapter data. If, when you load Chapter 2, you do not have a Jevil item in your inventory, the hole contains whichever Jevil item you most recently obtained in ANY of your saves. I find this incredibly interesting that Toby put in such a feature. These items must be very important for the future of the story.
5:18 you don't have to interract with this door to do snowgrave since this door makes Noelle feel nostaligic, do not interract with it to be even more asshole

I get that Toby Fox loves subverting expectations, and is definitely already subverting some expectations that were built from the previous game. But I don't think he would go so far as to undermine or completely reject the main theme of Undertale, which is the benefit of pacifism. I think Deltarune might provide a devils advocate story that might add some more nuance to the themes. Like when the King in the last game couldn't be befriended with pacifism. But I definitely don't think Toby would fully reward the "evil" routes of the game by making it the only way to save the world. I'm still confident that the pacifist route is going to lead to the best ending. But it might not be totally without some double edged sword.
yeah the pacifist ending will probably be something like a ultra hard fight but in the end someone like ralsei sacrifices himself for the greater good and then they win. and the genocide would be that the real threat arent the titans and such but the player or someone else like gaster who gave us control over kris. I hope the next chapters dont take 2+ years to release tho I will be out of university and with a job by the time the game is finished if thats the case

Knowing Toby and his story-telling, "The Roaring" is either heavily exaggerated or it's completely fabricated and something else happens, or nothing happens at all when the conditions for "The Roaring" are met.
Probably yeah. The info about the dark world that we currently have is fake as hell anyhow, because cyber city provably existed before its fountain was opened.
actually, if you die and press no, it says "then the world will be covered in darkness" or something like that, so i think it's safe to assume that the roaring actually can happen.
oh come on, it feels obvious Toby wouldn't do "be violent to get a good ending", subverting expectations isn't his main goal duh I mean like wasn't it obvious he enjoys non-violent stories with good endings? Feels ridiculous to assume we should do genocide to win good ending lol the roaring will likely happen (as it's typical scenario to define bad situation everyone tries not to let happen and then let it happen for everyone to fight the ultimate threat, and just never making it happen wouldn't work as a good plot climax - something big will happen anyway), but it seems logical we'll get sort of neutral or bad ending after bad routes if there will be several at all.
Yeah, this. I really don't like these super bleak, dark, and pessimistic predictions. This is an undertale spin off, guys. Toby's favorite game is one where the player ends up being directly instrumental in defeating the final boss. He said he wants us to become friends with everyone! He clearly thinks of fictional characters as something more than fiction, and his games basically have no 4th wall. I don't think the guy has it in him to make your ending choices "everyone happy but then die" or "everyone mindbroken but then live". He's similar in many ways, but he's not Yoko Taro, he's not gonna subvert your expectations at the expense of his characters' happiness unless you're punished for it. This isn't Nier or Drakengard. And even in that case, Taro's become less and less able to just destroy his characters like that! Both Automata and the Replicant remake have a 5th, much more hopeful ending! The expectations that are gonna be subverted are these people's.
real ending: either doing pacifist or pipis route a specific white dog will cover the screen with dogresidue, and as the dog cover your screen it will lag, lagger yet lagger. then deltarune will crash

in terms of your theory I have a feeling the only way to 'save' the world will be either through a True Weird Route, where you make everyone as powerful as possible, or through a True Pacifist Route where you Save all of the Darkners and Ralsei commands them as a giant army to sacrifice themselves to save the world. Either way, the Darkners will likely perish, but the Light world will be saved in the process. It'll really hit home the "your actions dont matter" motto, while also giving two completely different perspectives on the same ending.
8:10 I agree 100% that if you don't intervene with the secret bosses, that you will have a bad ending.. Sounds like a toby fox thing to do I think snowgrave would be more of a pyschopathic ending of everyone fighting YOU.. the Player and a boss defeat route would probably be a true ending, who knows? The roaring will probably happen
Just gonna tell you that Nubert only appears in your town if you recruit *EVERY. SINGLE. DARKNER.* in chapter 2. If you make even *ONE* run away by attacking it, bam, Nubert is not coming. So, even in a neutral route where you don't kill everyone but do fight some of them, Nubert will be nowhere to be seen.
@@auburned-phoenix I think yes, you need to fight the enemies and end the combat acting or using pacify, also you can check in any save point the recruits you have
@@auburned-phoenix For Nubert to appear, you need to, not only spare all the enemies you encounter, but make sure that you spared them enough times so that you recruit them. For example: Werewerewire just needs to be spared once to be recruited. Werewire needs to be spared 6 times to be recruited. So basically, if you somehow dodge a Werewire that was going to be your 6th spared Werewire, then you will not get Nubert.
honestly going off your theory I think a more neutral version of the route, if having to commit to weird route's is essential to stopping the roaring, where you commit to training up the team through these god awful routes but outside of where its essential try to be kind and pacifistic to those you can would be the best ending for the game, where as neutral routes are barely even a thought you have compared to true pacifist or genocide a sorta "do what you must" route may end up being the best, most memorable ending for deltarune. With the sadistic violence and pacifist being the most heart wrenching. I agree its possible that having to do the most violent options for the game may be what needs to happen to save everyone (though i dont like the idea of having to do so) I don't think Toby and the team would make the ending so....sour, I guess. We'll see what happens though. Darker yet darker and all that.
When you seal the fountain, your LV (not LOVE) reaches the same as you would have defeating enemies with violence, because the party have limits of stats increment, except for Noelle, so it doesn’t matter if you fighted or spared, you will be the same strong (sorry for my bad english, i am learning)
It's an interesting prediction you're making, but I 100% disagree. Toby doesn't really like to subvert expectations - Undertale, you play Pacifist, you get a wholesome, great ending. You play Genocide, you get a dark, scary ending... to the point where it even taints a future Pacifist ending a little. I would be shocked if the Pacifist run ends with a "bad" ending... and equally shocked if the Snowgrave route + other kind of Genocidey-bits in other chapters lead to a "good" ending. That would just be very off-brand for Toby.
Yes but that was for Undertale. The description for Deltarune says that we don't have choices, so I'm positive he is going to change the formula for this game
Honestly. You’re talking to the #1 Onionsan fan from Undertale, haha. I went back and talked to him about everything he could talk about in Waterfall, being mean to him is excruciating :(
The most evil thing one can do to the guy is to give him the name "disgusting". I actually wonder if the diffrent options to make him vanish from the game are all sharing one flag in the savefile or if they have multiple tho, because they all do the same thing.
Finally watched this! Turns out I already did the majority, even doing Snowgrave again just to get rid of Berdly, but there were still some things I didn't know about. That hospital alternative is chilling... (pun now intended).
dayum, this guy caught every small detail there is, even not asking nubert for permission for his treasure... how could you do such a thing to nubert you monster
@@Chiken i have a question do u really think deltarune tracks the save bc i dont wanna backup my files and when i reload them i get the dogcheck lol i mean this IS toby fox
I think approaching Noelle in the Hospital is worse for Kris because now they know their childhood friend is terrified of them. And Kris has no idea why we're approaching Noelle make them just as terrified as Noelle
Noelle: did you follow susie's footsteps into becoming a BIGSHOT Kris: on a scale to 1-1000 yes Noelle: but at what greater cost? Kris: my humanity and your sanity
I think pacifist/neutral DOES have one trump card that could let us take down the titans without corrupting everyone into super-powerful killing machines: The megazord we used against Giga Queen. Just gotta get everyone together again, get Berdly to make another of those statues, repair the thrash machine, and we can use it again.
For my current Snowgrave run, I did the first mouse puzzle by myself and did not force Noelle to do it for me. I managed to fulfill all other requirements too.
8:00 it's an interesting theory, but I think it'll only be a mix of what you said. Of course the Normal route will be bitter sweet, at best. Be it a success in only so much of a few ways like Undertale's plethora of ones, just managing to succeed while leaving people in a sad shape afterwards. Or maybe an outright fail due to the weaker characters, as you say. But 7 chapters of people being Pacifist and feel good moments, character developments, deep connections and all that, only to end with the Roaring happening anyway? And the only alternative is to be a asshole to everyone you made friends with along the way to squeak out a win? Nah. Toby likes subverting expectations, but that would be a shitty surprise, putting in plot twists that compromise the uplifting nature of a Pacifist route wouldn't be something he'd do in my eyes. I do however like the idea of a form of Weird Route where Noelle, and many other people in the future, are corrupted and do the bad endings of their respective chapters. Thus, somehow beating the Roaring by having dark realised powers. A Bad Ending, but not a Dead Ending. I absolutely am on board with this theory in terms of the Weird Route, but I imagine the Pacifist has its own road.
@@tedtubegaming it would probably-but at this point that initial line has sort of been rendered mute as, well, Noelle can either be shy and cute, or cold and murderous whichever one we pick. So 'our choices don't matter' isn't exact or overpowering in my eyes.
@@AmonTheWitch I can remember when I expected "kill or be killed" to actually be true and for it to be really hard to be pacifistic. It was really strange when no, not really.
4:35 I didn't even fight jevil and that happened. i beat him for jevilstail when I was replaying, still happened. So jevils irrelevant unless you get his items from the hole. Also nubert doesn't come if you don't recruit everyone. Even if you just kill a single werewire nuberts not there edit: beat jevil a while ago but the point still stands.
My guess is, the reason why Toby called it the "Weird Route", is because it will still give you the same, normal ending... but the plot will have to do some fucking flips to account for what the player has done. Like if Berdly is in anyway important to the plot from now on, Weird Route will have to replace his actions. If we kill or mess up anyone else, the plot will have to adjust for them. It'll be "weird" because we'll be watching everything that's pre-ordained play out... but in an incredibly odd or down right unexpected way.
I would lose it if we got to the final boss battle and the Snowgrave route team just absolutely wrecks some massive titans with one shot looool. Talk about subverting expectations, everyone thinks there's gonna be a "Sans of Deltarune" hahaha.
4:31 You can actually go back to bed and immediately end up in the Cyber World ditching Susie entirely. Her and Ralsei probably come back, but I haven’t seen what happens after you do that.
The weird white guy on the left of Castle Town was there for me even though I didnt kill jevil and don't think I even continued from my chapter 1 save file
I think your doomed pacifist route theory is really interesting but I think that another interesting option is that you can get a good ending through either route - your choices don't matter - but to get a good ending you'll need some serious intervention or perseverance. In the non-pacifist route that intervention comes in the form of genocide & snowgrave. But in the pacifist route, something about it - whether the fights themselves or whatever you do to intervene - is so much more difficult it may even be easier to get a 'good' ending through snowgrave and its subsequent route

What if all the weird routes are the good routes in the long run, like we made noelle strong as fuck and what if every chapter we make a new strong character (For example in chapter 3 it could be toriel) and throughout the chapters we gather an army of overpowered characters and thats how the party can defeat the titans..
That's what I'm saying! I don't know how Toby would tie that in to a positive message as per usual, but it would be an interesting twist and could absolutely be instrumental in breaking the "everybody loses and there's nothing you can do about it" ending that we're so obviously going to run into by doing a normal run of the game.

Bruh moment for deltarune lore
actually, if you die and press no, it says "then the world will be covered in darkness" or something like that, so i think it's safe to assume that the roaring actually can happen.
Imagine the roaring being a punishment for people who do these additional “genocide” like routes every single time.

I mean like wasn't it obvious he enjoys non-violent stories with good endings? Feels ridiculous to assume we should do genocide to win good ending lol
the roaring will likely happen (as it's typical scenario to define bad situation everyone tries not to let happen and then let it happen for everyone to fight the ultimate threat, and just never making it happen wouldn't work as a good plot climax - something big will happen anyway), but it seems logical we'll get sort of neutral or bad ending after bad routes
if there will be several at all.

So basically, if you somehow dodge a Werewire that was going to be your 6th spared Werewire, then you will not get Nubert.
4:47, I got this person on my save where I didn't kill Jevil, it might be up to chance or it might just be that this character always appears.
honestly going off your theory I think a more neutral version of the route, if having to commit to weird route's is essential to stopping the roaring, where you commit to training up the team through these god awful routes but outside of where its essential try to be kind and pacifistic to those you can would be the best ending for the game, where as neutral routes are barely even a thought you have compared to true pacifist or genocide a sorta "do what you must" route may end up being the best, most memorable ending for deltarune.

That would just be very off-brand for Toby.

it's an interesting theory, but I think it'll only be a mix of what you said.
I mean, both routes ending in the Roaring would fit with the "your choices don't matter"
@@tedtubegaming it would probably-but at this point that initial line has sort of been rendered mute as, well, Noelle can either be shy and cute, or cold and murderous whichever one we pick.

Also nubert doesn't come if you don't recruit everyone. Even if you just kill a single werewire nuberts not there
edit: beat jevil a while ago but the point still stands.
Eh, maybe instead of "crushed" itll be "almost impossible"
And with weird route itll be one shot from our side.
I would lose it if we got to the final boss battle and the Snowgrave route team just absolutely wrecks some massive titans with one shot looool. Talk about subverting expectations, everyone thinks there's gonna be a "Sans of Deltarune" hahaha.

Edit:I really like this vid
Earlier today, I was playing a modded deltarune and I decided to get the egg in the secret room and my friend said “don’t do it, it’s going to take a while”. I got it first try
