- Today we are at the river doing some trout fishing before a storm rolls through! This is the perfect weather for trout fishing so hopefully they will be biting! I retired in northern Arizona. I do miss the fish anywhere, streams everywhere in Idaho.

Same. The swinging bridge and Libbey Sholes are my two favorite spot over there. I travel from Tennessee to go fishing there 2 to 3 times a year.

Another great video. Thank you. You mentioned that the trout can be slippery. Well, I learned a long time ago, probably over forty years ago, a particular trick that I use mostly for catfishing. As you know, those cats can be really slippery, so what I do is carry a small bucket of wet sand, and when I have that fish ready to string, grab a handful of the sand, shake off the excess, and grab the catfish. The fish can't slip, and you can string it up. It has always worked for me. Many Blessings.
Bobers are the best. I use to to rain trout fishing in Alberta, Canada all the time and loved it.

A little too warm in Southeast Texas for trout. However the TPW does stock trout in the local city park ponds in Houston and Harris County about this time of year. I am going to have to take off and try my luck one of these years.

Yep, fished all day yesterday on the Red. Trout were not biting. From the dam to Pangburn. Did get some free tackle since the water was down.

Wild Rice is good with Trout.
You can cover a lot more water with small crankbaits. If those are stocked trout, chances are they are bred for aggression, anyway. And the hits are more exciting.

You should try skinng the trout. Lots of youtube videos on skinning.
Using slip corks help with casting as well.
I’ve tried with slip corks but the trout magnets are too light to slip down through in most cases with the current and I don’t really like adding additional weight to those baits. I have gotten away with it a couple times though in a few spots! 💪
What about adding a small split shot about 3 to 4 inches above the bait? We don't have trout down here in Louisiana, so I'm really not that educated on how the magnets act with weights.

I fish that spot a lot. Do good on fire tiger crankbaits.
Kinda thought that first was actually a Brown trout with a longer mouth and darker that the rainbow you caught next which was lighter and a shorter mouth...
It was definitely a rainbow trout but it was unique looking

Cole, it appears you did not 'scale' the fish. How is it eating trout skin w/scales ? I like the crispy skin, but always remove the scales.

Yes they have scales but they are very small scales on trout this size.

Whenever I cook trout the FDA rates it as unfit for human consumption, the chemist places a warning stating that it is a biohazard. Never been able to cook trout.
