Oh crap I’m glad you made this video,need to get all mine I forgot out of the garage😬. Sweeping the garden is a dang nice trade vs weeding and mowing. That is how I did with all my container figs,think I’m up around 60 varieties so thats alot of weed whacking.

On your advice, I planted Hossinators, Red Snappers, along with Supersweet 100 all in earth boxes. They are all doing great. I’m in Oklahoma and love your videos and sharing. Lots of blooms and little tomatoes.

I lost all my tomatoes in my earth boxes this year. The leafhopper got them all. I love the earth boxes, I think of getting some more.

You've taught me a lot about the Earthbox and alternatives to using fertilizer. I'm planning to buy my first 6 Earthboxes this month (June) and put your teachings into practice. I will be growing tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squash, butternut, lettuce, carrots, and bok choy this season. Can you please explain how to use Micro-Boost in the Earthbox for these vegetables? Thank you for being the best teacher online. I'm in New York.
I usually put a teaspoon or thereabouts down the fill tube and then just fill it up with water to kind of mix it in. Works great.

I got 4 earthboxes this year after watching your videos. So far my tomato plants look great. I'll probably buy several more. I figure a earthbox plus the soil will average about 65.00. If you get 2 tomato plants to produce 15 lbs each at 3.00 lb you've made your money back then some. That's not counting the water savings compared to a regular container.
Ha ha ha… Sounds like you have done the math. And yes, I still think it’s a great buy even though they’re not as inexpensive as they used to be. Thanks for sharing, and for confirming how good they are.

Harvested the first of my garlic today from my raised bed.

Those things are expensive and I can't get my wife to work a second job ,in fact I can't get her to work a first job . Garden is doing good ! Fixing to pull the second half of my onions . Have dug most of my purple potatoes. Just fixing to dig red russets . White baking potatoes are a month out . Tomatoes and squash are just starting to produce as are the peppers. Planted corn late and had to replant zippers , got bad seed the first round. The plague for this year so far have been big fuzzy caterpillars,and they will eat everything.
Dang… I didn’t know whether those little buggers were eating stuff or not… But I have them everywhere!
I think Texas, or at least East Texas is just overrun by them.

My daughter has been using covers cut from a heavy duty yard trash bag. Clipped on with some 3D printed clips. She gets 4 per trash bag (the big roll of HD yard bags like you get at Lowes or HD). We are growing less this year as we have a lot of other "life" stuff going on. I was in the process of changing from old rotting wood raised beds to the 17" tall Olle beds (same thing as you metal raised beds, just different brand). Slow process for two old retirees, but needs to be done. Plants love it in the "homemade" potting soil - 40% peat moss, 40% compost from sod company in GA (Soil3), 10% peralite, and 10% vermiculite. No soil at all...
Two years ago, I made some earth box covers. I just didn’t feel like they were worth the trouble.
Deteriorated too fast. That’s when I came up with the idea to mulch last year.
If I ever catch a good deal on earthboxes I'll probably load up on them thanks to your videos.

My problem is squirrels. Do you think they would dig up the wood chips also? The plastic is ugly and only lasts one season.
I have tons of squirrels and I don’t think I have ever seen evidence of a squirrel messing with my earth boxes in any way.
How is your lazy garden doing? I had to dig my taters early because we got 13” of rain in a week, and have been pulling onions , picking blackberries. The squash are rotting on the vine , but I have lots of green tomatoes, I hope they don’t rot… but I’m not complaining about the rain , because we probably be in a drought soon.
All I planted in my lazy garden was watermelons and some flowers for pollination. They have done pretty well.
Kind of off-topic: do you think the landscape fabric will heat up the area? We've got some really hot temps coming and it'll be worse for you. Wondering if the boxes will need more water than in previous years.
I really don’t think it’s gonna make a difference in how it affects the plant.
It could make a difference in how much water is needed, though, so you may be right about that.
There are so many people that use landscape cloth now and many of them are in hot areas like Texas.

This is a good idea we don't have any place to get wood chips around here that I have found yet. You think cypress mulch would work That man who invented them lives not to far from me
Tried the chip drop last year few times didn't get a single drop. So had to get a bagger for my mower now I have grass and shredded leaves to make compost.
I think Cypress mulch would work fine, but I do not think Cypress mulch will decompose. In other words, I don’t think it will turn to compost.
But, it would be good because you could reuse it year after year. Just remove it when you plant and replace it after the plants are in the earthbox. At least, that’s what I think Would be a good idea.
I think Cypress is a lot like redwood or cedar. It doesn’t break down hardly at all.
