Can you demonstrate how to do it with bones? You mention how in the description, but I'm not sure how the scaling works with bones. I'm assuming you scale in pose mode then set the scaled pose as rest position? When I do that, both the scale bones and the normal eye bone move the same way. And yes, I've weighted the eye to the normal eye bone and not to the scale eye bone. What might I be missing?
For this to work on bones you cannot apply the scaling/rotation, applications that require 0'd out bone transforms can't use this method (I've used this technique for a vtuber model, it does not work on the VRM format as it requires bone transforms to be zero'd out or applied. It does work on the VSF format though)
