If you know where to look, you can still rid bits of 508s in regular service. The Southern 508s are better as they had more capacity than the Merseyrail 508s because the 508s lost a coach to the 455s to create the 455/7s, which still are part 508s.
I do not count the 455/7s for 2 reasons: -They aren't powered, nor do they have any motors or any differences from a standard 455 carriage, apart from the doors taking slightly more pressure to open -And the interiors are completely unrecognisable. There's no original class 508 features left. However, what I will say, is that there is still two examples of class 508/2s in their original form left, which means the class isn't entirely extinct, which is good. 508201's front coach, and 508209's rear coach, are both at an emergency services college here in Merseyside, and (I believe) 508212 is still complete at another emergency services facility in Long Marston.
