Looks good for now. I built my house from 1988 to 1999. I built as I had time and money. I strongly recommend that you build the house passive solar. Done right, it doesn't cost extra and saves a lot of firewood each winter. Orient the long face of the house on a true east-west line and put extra glass on the south side. Put less glass on the north side. To get a true east west line, put a stick into the ground, out in the sun. Mark the tip of the shadow. Wait an hour or more. Mark the tip again. A line through the marks will be true east west. This is a good method for finding North if you are lost. Left foot on the first mark and right foot on the second mark will have you facing true North. If you are going to plant fruit and nut trees, plant them now. I bought my own tractor-loader-backhoe so that I always had the machine when I needed it. I've now had it for 40 years and it has paid for itself several times over. With all of the trees that are down, can you build a log cabin for an out building? Good Luck, Rick

Cube on my thruhike last year. I had skipped the middle miles and started back north in Massachusetts. I managed to make it to Rte. 3 in NH before I realized that my knee wasn't going to get better. A double tear in the meniscus and heavy arthritis damage, plus doctor's orders, made me have to come home. I eventually put in 1,100 total miles, halfway, so now I am "Tinker, Halfway," and, if I attempt another thruhike, it might just be "Halfway." It was great seeing you again at Mountain Crossings, and meeting Katie and PR last April. Thanks for the history lesson on Monson. I've been through there on several occasions, during section hikes. I visited Shaw's on a post-hike "farewell to the AT" trip last fall. It was bittersweet, but I got a fantastic picture of Katahdin from Abol Bridge. I can't hike yet, so thanks for the virtual trail time and walk up to the future house site. I'm guessing you got the van brakes fixed since last spring. 😊 God bless! 🇺🇲

We are on an all summer camping trip. When we get a chance we day hike quite a few trails on the AT. Of course we get our info on what trail to hike by watching you all these years. We are currently in the Whites and have discovered these trails are no joke!! Brutal!! Never been up this way . Heading to Maine for a month to discover it beauty! You are a huge inspiration to my 6 year old granddaughter! She just put in 12 miles today rock scrambled in her crocks !! lol

I didn’t know about the BBQ place last year but we did love the Sandwich Shop and the huge ice cream shoppe across the street. Monson is a great place to walk, stretch the legs and Relax. I surely hope to walk to your house one day Hawk! I'm dealing with Lyme Disease as it's hit my nerve system pretty good. I am slowly making headway though. Getting on trail just south of Duncannon in a few days. Going to hopefully walk north for a couple/few weeks. Looking forward to your driveway/shed project! I've done lots of that across my life.
