Ridge walking is the best. Now that my mobility has been reduced, I love finding local "ridge walks" in New England. Nothing like a ridge walk with the mountain laurel in bloom. My adult children ask me, "Where were you all day?" Ridge walkin' in slow motion, kids.

Day 6 sees HAWK up with the Sun for a 23.2 mile day. . . .another beautiful and peaceful day out on trail with lots of woods walking and the Northern Terminus of the Pinhoti Trail (and a Coffee tribute to memories of a past hike) and then a steep climb to Big Frog Mountain before calling it a day at a nice campsite by a creek. . . .and Finally for Today's HAWKISM @14:56 HAWK keeps it short but sweet, "Oh Cool, I Love Ridge Walking!"

I get a kick out of your cliff notes version of Hawk's day, but I try to avoid them until I finish watching the video. Spoiler alert~

@@peterguercio9504 I started doing the HAWKISM a while ago and eventually realized that a synopsis of the day was a good way to pass the time while sorting through the many great HAWK Quotes (HAWKISMS) along the way. . .spoiler alert is usually a combo of HAWK goes further, has more fun and meets more people than anticipated LOL

You made the best decision to move on to this awesome place. Maybe the best spot ever for me on trail. Still remember the swooshing of the creek running by so near. 😄

Absolutely loved my Pinhoti experience and will be completing that trail over and over thru out my life. Foothills trail is next for me, then finishing up the BMT! Got about 200 of it left

Great as always. Thee Mason jar with a logbook is probably a geocache container. It is a hide an seek game worldwide. People find them with coordinates an clues, they usually have a logbook to sign an swap items/ prizes. Thanks again for the videos. You are awesome.. good to see you back.👍👣🥾🥾🏕

Did not realize the BMT went through Cuhutta. I've been up in there a few times. You can hike the Jacks river but do it in june. You cross the river about 9 times in 9 miles, with no bridges, through the water. that can be deep and rushing. Cold, and you're soaked and freezing at the end. Then you have to do it again back out, or the other way back on trail is longer.

Last week we were at Chehaw state park for the week and actually hiked some of Pinhoti trail. So good to be able to follow you out hiking again. Got behind. No signal last week, meant no internet.

Such an enjoyable hike so far. Very cool you are taking us along. In my imagined "AT and alternatives" dream hike that will never happen (because, life, right?) this trail has been the first leg, then AT to Damascus, then "The Lost Virginia AT," the regular AT to the Tuscarora Trail, and there to Mt. K. Your journey so far, with its great views, un-busy trail, and unique cool stuff, has reinforced the dream, even if just in bits and pieces and overnights. May your path forward be clear and full o' fun.

I just love the cohutta Wilderness!!!
I've spent some good time on those trails from Jacks River and the penitentiary Loop along with Conestoga River Trail which is a beautiful Trail if you ever get the chance. Lots of river Crossings but totally worth it. Jacks River Trail is also beautiful but it seems to get more crowded
As far as the ridgewalk, I think you were referring to the area around Charlie's bunion just north of Newfound Gap once you pass ice water shelter it's an amazing Ridge

Beautiful day. Great trail. Love the sight and sound of running water. Have a feeling I'd be looking to see if I couldn't find a trout or two in those running waters. Used to go trout fishing twice a year but unfortunately can't do it anymore. Anyway, I'm loving my first experience with the BMT. Really appreciate the way you show us the trail ahead. Thanks for doing that. Take care. Stay safe. See you tomorrow.

You crossed the line from Georgia to Tennessee right when you start up big frog. That is definitely the worst climb on the entire trail. I still have nightmares about it.

You are going to love the upcoming section above Santeetlah Creek. It is true wilderness. Keep your eyes open and you might see some wild boar that are descended from a failed hunting preserve 100+ years ago. They are true European boar not the run of the mill domestic wild hogs that infest everywhere else.
