- Lectric XP 3.0 VS the second largest hill in western Maine. who wins?! I watched a video where Lectric team took the XP 3.0 to San Francisco and it performed perfectly! in that video they also mentioned they have a protective mechanism for their motor overheating. today on a ride I decided to put the Lectric 3.0 up against the second largest hill in the western mountains of Maine!

What a show of power. Good work on your part. Good work Lectric e-bike
Hello, thank you yes I was impressed with the bike Lectric E bikes definitely have some climbing power! Thanks for commenting, have a great day. Brian
I live in Carmel Maine, and we also got hills going into Hermon and Bangor. 20-inch wheels make the difference. I am impressed with Lectric 3.0.
I know where your at I used to live in Dexter. Yes great ride it is impressive. Ride on!
Thank you for such a great video about this Ebike. Going to order mine this week. I live in the Midwest and have some small hills. That's one of the reason for getting an Ebike. Anyway, you covered what I needed to know. BTW, you live a beautiful part of Maine. Several decades ago, I hike the Appalachian Trail from N.Y. to Mt. Katahdin. Maine was definitely my favorite state! You are lucky to live there. I'm jealous!!
Hello, thank you so much for your kind comment. I'm glad it haloed you figure everything out I hope your well and a joy your lectric E bike. If you don't mind please let Lectric know Brick Chick from lenscapingmaine sent you to them. Much appreciated. Brian
@@lenscapingmaine I will, thank you!!
@@garyp9906 no problem keep on trucking bud
I live in Wilton and just ordered mine! Super impressed that it made it up Walker 😲. I'm even more excited to get it now!
That's awesome! Yeah the video doesn't do that hill justice. Your going to love you Lectric XP l. They level out the hills here in western Maine l. Going to be great to see another one around. Whistle stop trail is a great ride also! I'm just across the Wilton line. Happy riding!
Don’t get too excited, my brand new one arrived with a flat rear tire, and big scratches to the metal and aluminum. Customer service remedy was touch up paint only. So I’m waiting on a tube from eBay so I can get it going to sell. I haven’t even ridden it.
What A hIll..thanks for the adventures. Made me order one myself. Happy Trails
Your welcome, thank 5for watching and commenting. I'm excited it inspired you to go for it! Have a blast! Brian
Thank you for sharing😊
Your welcome, hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for wat6and commenting. Brian
I've ordered two. I live in Western Washington where we have long rolling hills. This video was an influential factor in my decision. Thanks
I'm so Happy this was able to help with your decision. The bike is really something special, and I now have 337 miles on mine in the huge and rolling hills here in western Maine! Customer service has been amazing! It has had some flaws along the way but I think any e bike would . But don't give it a second thought, Lectric with have your back and stand by their product! I'm not paid to promote their products. But if you call them after you get your bike, they want to hear your story and will send you an awesome T-shirt also! Go team Lectric! I hope you enjoy yourride. Brian
You must have been near terminal velocity coming down that hill😄.
Pretty good climb, reminds me of a rollercoaster - I might not want to do it everyday though. Looks like it’s a little bit faster going down. You only have one neck - be careful not to break it…
How is battery performance in lower temperatures?
Good demo - thanks for doing it, I really appreciated it!
Hello yes it is quite a workout. The battery does very well for being a 10-AH in cool weather and hills (not a hill like this one) I get 15 to 17 miles if I use pas 1or pas 2 most of the time
@@lenscapingmaine that’s good advice. I appreciate it. Good riding!
Don’t get the XPedition if you have bumps in your roads. My dumb ass thought the 450# would be soo handy but only a week in and now I’d happily trade for the the 3.0 just to get some suspension! I really wish there was a return policy even if it heavily favored the company. I can’t afford/justify buying a second one but if I could trade it in I’d get the 3.0 long range in a heartbeat!
I agree they should have some kind of trial period especially buying without seeing them or trying them on our home terrain.
@00:35. Am I the only one who started getting antsy with that school bus behind him?!
Doesn’t the cold affect battery strength?
It doesn't affect the battery strength it only affects how long the battery lasts on a charge. Thank you for commenting Brian
Why didn't you go to pas 5 ?
Hello, I don't notice much difference between pas 4 and 5 in a hill and I didn't want to put more stress on the controller. I notice a great difference between pas 4 and 5 when I'm moving right along though. And I still had to ride 10 miles after that to hit my 100 miles, after that. Thanks for commenting! Have a great day, Brian
@@lenscapingmaine Yeah, the Pedal Assist levels are really about speed, not torque. As you said, going from level 4 to level 5 wouldn't have made any difference on that hill. Even level 3 would've given the same result. The motor and controller were surely already maxed out.
On a slightly different note, what kind of top speed do you get on level ground in throttle-only mode? (I mean what you can actually achieve, not what they advertise.)
@@Milesco hello there, throttle only on a long flat I get between 18-21 mph but I am 6'4 200 LBS. I imagine a lighter person could get another 5 easily. I began on a Jetson bolt Pro in December, new to E Biking I didn't want to spend much to see what they were about. I actually really enjoyed the Jetson Bolt Pro. I took the Jetson Bolt Pro in a snow storm the other night, it couldn't climb the larger hill on my road but the Lectric had no problem But going to Lectric was a game changer! And the 10 ah battery holds up well here considering all the hills. I can get about 21 Mike's or so out of a charge depending how I ride. Glad you also know that the pas 4-5 is more for speed. It gives you a lot of speed! I love the interaction with viewers thank you keep them coming! Thank you. Brian
@@lenscapingmaine Thanks for your prompt reply! As it happens, I have an XP 3.0, but the fastest it'll go in throttle-only mode is about 18 mph, if that. Sometimes less. And I weigh about the same as you -- maybe 8 - 10 lbs more. It's a little disappointing. I know it doesn't sound like much of a difference -- just a couple miles per hour -- but that's ten percent of the rated speed, which is already a bit on the slow side, IMHO.
Pedal assist performance is reasonably good -- it's definitely a lot peppier than throttle only -- but throttle only performance is underwhelming.
Well anyway, thanks, Brian, for getting back to me! 😊
@@Milesco hello CQ no problem anything to help a fellow E Biker that's new to them like myself. I have to agree with you even with my Lectric unlocked you and I are getting around the same throttle speeds. Have you unlocked you bike and made some of the computer adjustments? I find with mine the pedal assist is pretty good even in the hills here. A couple mph is quite noticable on the bike I notice. Pas 3 is where I would like to keep it most of the time due to the terrain. However I can't as it uses to much of the battery to quickly. Mine is also notorious for a lot of strange sounds , do you experience that? I have also figured out that the wheel size in the computer hub is off and I had to use a different setting to get an accurate odometer reading. I had to set mine to 23.7 wheel size now it lines up much better to my gps. Feel free to ask questions, or just keep in touch, as these bikes are considered budget bikes, but we're still talking about a thousand dollar bike. It should deliver as advertised IMHO. Let me know where your at and I would be happy to try to help, thank you. Brian
Why not do it in pas 5?
Hello, I find pas 4 and 5 are great on a flat road but they don't have the punch to help in a large hill. Have a great day.
You had 21% not 21°. The degrees were on the right hand of the screen and they were covered
I couldn't see the screen great the degree is 23.27
Your friend Brent is George Lucas??? 😲
Holy cow! I never noticed the resemblance before you said something! LoL love it!
@@lenscapingmaine 👍😄
Walkers hill should be walked.
It needs a cog rail lol
You should know that lectric bikes are NON RETURNABLE!! don't be me and get stuck paying for a bike that quit working within 3 months.
They should be helping you fix it
Cough cough, yeah they can have some problems. (Xp lite, bought fendor and rear rack, had to get a third party bolt in order to have both on my bike.) you really do it for the price. But now other companies are starting to sell other cheap e bikes
Yeah, I find their quality to be a bit spotty. I had an XP 1.0 and the battery level meter didn't work right from Day One. It showed 100% full all the time, even if the battery was empty. And then after just 41 miles, the left pedal fell off!
I then bought an XP 3.0 with the idea that I could use the old battery from the XP 1.0 as a backup. But the battery from my XP 1.0 would not fit in my XP 3.0, even though they're supposed to be interchangeable. 😡
And the top speed on my XP 3.0 in throttle-only mode never goes above 18 mph, even though it's supposed to be able to do 20. (And as the battery discharges, the top speed decreases further!)
So my feelings about my Lectric XP 3.0 are mixed. It's okay for an inexpensive ebike, but it's not as good as it's hyped up to be.
@@Milesco I bought the extended range which is supposed to be a max of 65 miles but the most I ever got out of it was 28 miles
