I had completely forgotten about this game. I had it as a child and it was stolen along with all my GB games...except my GAmeboy itself and the crappy power rangers game that was on it at the time. 8 or so years ago I started trying to rebuild the game collection that was stolen. A few I know I'll never be able to find or afford now but I thought I had all the others. When I saw the cover and title in a vintage game store few days ago those memories instantly came back and Ivs been having a blast playing this again. It's also given me some weird flashes of memory of other games I had back then too. I wonder what other games I had forgotten about

I begged my dad to buy me a Game Boy game when I was kid. A few days later he handed me Solar Striker. I ended up playing this game for about 7 months straight, in-between breaks of Tetris Game Boy. Looking back now, it was a pretty simple game, but I have very fond memories of it. Thanks for bringing back good memories. :)
Loved this as a child, but never completed it. All I could think about in stage 1 though was how much I would hate to be a pilot in one of those rotating ships, that would have made me so nauseous. No wonder they don't shoot and just try to crash into yours.
I have this game on an emulator on my smartphone and I showed it to my friends kid who has a Nintendo 3DS to show her what hand held games used to be like and when the first level began she said "Are those flying fidget spinners?" Lol
Solar Striker was the very first game I got for gameboy! Christmas of 89! ... I think it's hilarious how so many of you commented on the boss of level 4 - that thing was literally the most horrifically terrifying enemy I'd ever seen! there appeared to be no pattern to its madness and it's aggression was unrivaled! sheer terror!! haha it took me years to beat him
The trick for the 4th boss is to stay in the center and just move up and down. Figuring that out as a kid felt like finding out the Konami code for the first time.
4th level boss made 9 year old me rage destroy my gameboy. Sad day. Finally got him on the rom emulator at the age of 20. Pathetic, I know, but that´s live.
Hahaha u would not believe how many times i tried to beat this game when i had my game boy all batteries i went through lol the memories this brings back awww i hate getting older. this guy makes it look too easy.
one of my all time favorites. you need to catch more blazers in level 5 + 6 (5000 points each) to get to scores around 700.000 and beyond.. ;) thx for uploading!
Glad to see other fans of this game in the comments. It gets so much unfair hate and is usually dismissed as a bad game. It's constantly compared to Nemesis (which is very close to Gradius) but it's an unfair and pointless comparison. I dont see Solar Striker as a barebones nemesis, I see it as an awesome space invaders/galaga type game.
great space shooter for the orinigal gameboy and there are some great shooters for the gameboy and this is easy one of them i remember buying this last year there was no label on it had my gameboy advance with me tested it didn't dare say what this game was to the seller could not believe it was this i said i will give you a pound for it he took it good times the gameplay is the nuts the sound great the music kick ass the graphics killer i give this gameboy classic 10 blasts out 10
Logo font and some enemies are resembling ones that you see in japanese version of Star Force on NES. The player's spaceship also looks like one from that game. Probably a coincidence, but still, this is very interesting to see.
Haha, I'm disappointed that the bullets stopped getting better, I always wondered if they kept improving. I still can't beat this game today, I'm not very good at it, my best is level 3 :P
Seinerzeit hab ich bei dem Spiel nachdem ich es geschafft habe dermaßen auf Perfektionismus gespielt dass ich oft neu angefangen habe sobald ich gestoben bin oder einen Gegner habe leben lassen. Crazy! :D

finally i did it :D .... i beat the game the 5 boss is not so hard, stay in the center and just move a bit to the side if the long bar comes. Lost 1 life to him, then he was toast ;)

i have been trying to remember the name of this game for like 15 god damn years. feels good to hear these sweet sounds again.

level 4, 5 and 6 end bosses had a spot where you could actually hit them but they couldn't hit you. This game was so epic... sooooo epic damnit!

first played this game on my cousin's game boy in 1992, finally passed the game when I got my own game boy in 1996.

Beating the boss with one life takes some skill that's for sure
there is a spot in the direct center, were you are save ... close to the enemy .... maybe you have to move a bit up or down, but thats it. :)

Managed to defeat every single enemy in stages 1 and 2 as a kid, quite a difficult game for a kid back in the day, but I loved it!

Who needs endless supplies of power-ups like in modern games?! All you need are these Turbo-Missiles to save the earth :)

When I fight the 4th boss, I stay under his weakpoint and just dodge up and down.
you know, you can hide from the level 1 boss in the upper right corner? after 1 minute he just flies away ^^
