You forgot to add the part in dire dire docks while you are underwater. More instruments play while you are underwater and it makes the music sound more catchy
Super Mario Bros. - Absolute classic. The first song Koji Kondo ever composed for the series and it's wonderful. It has a very peaceful vibe that makes me feel like I'm floating. Perfect for an underwater level. There's a reason this one has remained so iconic. Super Mario Bros. 3 - Pretty good successor to the original. It keeps that same floatiness from the first game, but sounds very different as well. Super Mario Land - Really catchy song, but doesn't quite fit what an "underwater theme" should sound like. If the song was slowed down a bit, that might be better. Super Mario World - Slowed down version of the overworld theme made to fit the underwater style. I like it, but I kinda wish it was completely original. Super Mario Land 2 - Definitely an upgrade from SML1. This definitely fits an underwater level better. Only problem is that it's a bit repetitive. It's just the same sound over and over again. All Stars (SMB) - This is just kind of a worse version of the NES one. It doesn't sound nearly as nice as it did before. This kinda holds true for every All Stars song. It's not bad, but it's not as good as the original. All Stars (SMB3) - Again, same thing. This one is at least better than the SMB1 remake, but it still isn't as good as its original counterpart. Super Mario 64 - Now we're talking. If SMB1 is my favourite underwater theme, then this one is an extremely close second. It fits the tone perfectly, it's really catchy, and it's extremely iconic because of it. Mario 64 generally has one of my favourite Mario soundtracks ever, and this song is a highlight. Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Advance 2 - Same problem, but even worse because they had to compress an SNES song this time. Super Mario Sunshine - Eh. It's fine. It fits the vibe, but for a game like Sunshine which is all about water, this feels really underwhelming. Sunshine has some really great songs, but this one is just really forgettable. Super Mario Advance 4 - Oh, God. Here we go again. I already said everything of note about the Advance ones. New Super Mario Bros - This one is pretty good. The only thing holding it back is that the later NSMB games expanded on this song and (in my opinion) improved it, but this one still works quite well. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, 3D Land & 3D World - I'm putting all of these here at once because they're... weird. They don't have actual underwater themes, they just take the regular level themes and make them a little more "underwater-ish". It works, since these games don't have any levels that are exclusively underwater, but y'know. New Super Mario Bros. Wii - This is what I meant with the NSMB games. They pretty much take the same song and keep expanding upon it. This version is a lot cleaner than the DS one and I think it sounds just a bit better. New Super Mario Bros 2 - This is literally just the Wii one, but they add little bits to it when you're using certain power-ups, kinda like in SMW when using Yoshi adds drums to every song. NSMB2 has absolutely no original songs in it whatsoever. New Super Mario Bros. U - Same thing as 2, this is just the Wii one but with situational additions. However, I will say, the Baby Yoshi choir works really well for this song. It just sounds so nice and peaceful. Super Mario Maker - All of these are just "background" remixes of all the songs for when you're working on a level. It works, but there's not too much to say about it. I do love how they add background vocals whenever you place something though. I always thought that was really neat. Super Mario Odyssey (Lake Lamode) - This song is great. It fits the vibe perfectly, it's very calm and peaceful and it sounds very beautiful. Super Mario Odyssey (Bubblaine) - As the name suggests, this one is very bubbly, which works quite well. I don't think it's as good as Lake Lamode, but it still sounds very nice. Super Mario Maker 2 - Exactly the same thing as the first one.
