Could I use macro to select a certain position in a drop down list when I use the macro?
Thank you this really cleared the confusion easily explained. By chance could you explain how to copy a Census record with the paste special some how you select “Text” so we can scroll though the sheet. It for some reason pastes transposed with mixed columns. I’ve asked many times from UA-camrs but no reply. This can be done in excel explained in Connie Knox’s Genealogy TV please help if you can
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
This is so cool! Tym!

How can I turn off macro authorization in Google Sheets? When I copy the File that has macro the copied File has the macro but it asks for permission authorization again which is annoying to do it everytime. Is it possible to auto copy or turn it off as I make a copy of the File? Thanks!
How to bring values from one tab to another tab by running a macro
Thanks
No problem
Can i use a macro a different google sheet file? Or is the recorded macro only associated with the file it was created in? Thanks!!
Macros only work in the file in which they are recorded.
Hey, is there a way to activate macro by changing a chosen cell. Lets say if cell a1="delete", makro is activated. Thanks for help
Yes, you would have to write that in Apps Script. I don't think you can do that with any of the steps in this tutorial. Apps script is the underlying language in which the macro is recorded.
It's Lit, Sir....

Hi.. can you tell me how to create a macro that selects a range of cells in a workbook and then goes to the file menu and gives a print command using google sheets?
I'm putting this question in the que to answer tomorrow during the live stream at 11 am. Hope to see you there. Look at my channel page for the link.
And during said livestream, I think the answer is that the printing abilities don't seem to be accessible to the macro.
can use macro to import data from google sheet to DHL post system (website)?
I doubt it.
for your teaching skills 🍷
Oh, well, thank you!
can anyone explain me why i cant use google spreadsheet macro shortcut?
I set a macro to "mark a payment amount Received" by placing an "r$" before the number. My problem is I may want run on a selection of cells or individually. For some reason, when i select multiple cells and run the macro, it only applies it to one cell. Can you help?
I'd have to see it. Another thing you could do is just have an extra column if and IF that looks to see if it's paid, and a CONATENTATE to join "r$" to the value of the cell.
Prolific Oaktree thanks for the response! I was half way able to fix it when I opened the script. Instead of “get cell” I changed it to “get active range”. Now my problem is it’s always replacing the existing number in the cell with that ever number I entered when I recorded the Marco. Do you know how to just place “r$” before “cell contents”
@@troybravenboer8133 I'm taggin' out on this one.
Prolific Oaktree thanks anyway.
Why can't I get a simple macro do work on my mobile phone. A macro that put up a text box saying Hi Robbie?
The phone app is super limited.
If your company is using spreadsheets for that, they should be using databases.
Also you can use other keys on your keyboard, or not use a shortcut.
So harsh!
Will this work on shared google sheets?
Yep!
Is there Marco/VBA code for printing a column range?
Did you try to record yourself doing it for the macro?
Yes and it seems to not pickup the print step…
Therefore, was wording if a VBA code command
I don't know App Script very well, but I'm guessing you could do it. VBA is only in Excel.
Eyyy online class
How come I don't have a Tool menu ? Can't find macros !!!! Sams7ng Tablet S7
You need to do it through a browser, not a mobile app.
How do we use macro buttons on smart phones?
I don't think you can.
How to enable a developer tab in in google sheet
Build a plug-in I guess!
Can i do this on my tablet?
No, the option is not in the menus.
@@ProlificOaktree ok thanks, so it only works for PC right?
@@europebasedvlogs1251 PC, Linux, and Mac.
Looks like G-sheets is just more powerful than Excel, just bot popular yet
Oh yeah.
What possible reason could you have to not let us save this video?
I don't control that.
How do you run a macro over and over and over? I don't want to click on it every time.
Make the macro contain the repetitions you need then run it once...or at least fewer times.
Is this work in android?
I don't think so.
Can u share this spreadsheet
Sure, I just added a link to the description.
Google Apps Scripts are really for programmers who already know or are willing to learn an extremely verbose programming language - not for users who want to record simple or moderately complex keystroke sequences. As such it is misleading to claim that records macros. I almost did some very cool stuff until I discovered that success depended sensitively on conditions in the particular file in use. A waste of time.
You don’t need Apps Script to record macros.
some steps are missing and its confusing
When it comes to Excel, MACRO is not what you describe in this video.
It's was a similar concept but with a different interface.
@prolific oaktree I'm looking to create a worksheet that tallies daily, cumulative weekly and monthly stats on how we perform these activities we track daily.
So when a person entered today's activities they would be captured. When they added tomorrow's and the next days.... activities you can see the daily number vs the cumulative number weekly, monthly, and year to date. It'd be great if there was column that stated daily goal so we could enter those numbered in front of each daily habit.
HOW CAN I GO ABOUT IT. Anyone?
Here's a video that has some aspects of what you are asking, it about summarizing quarterly though: ua-cam.com/video/N6GdIzcx8sM/v-deo.html
