- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT AWD. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this suv while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this suv designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.
I just purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey and honestly i think its amazing, best SUV so much storage and room in this and couldn't ask for anything else. Love it. Nice video.

I knew I wasn't the only one who thought the Dodge Journey had a GREAT stereo. The bass was just NASTY LOUD...mine is the same color but the inside is brown and tan, with no dual zone heated seats or whatever. But it has uconnect navi & remote start. Also an SXT, with no lower fog lights.

I like that the 2009-10 Journeys still use that old Chrysler chime like in Chrysler vehicles from the 90's and early 00's.

This is my favorite gen of the journey this was probably one of the last Chrysler cars to stop using the old chime, I’m planning on getting a 09-10 model year, hopefully it works out.

I have a 2009 Dodge Journey, nothing but problems. Sometimes it won't start, does not shift gears, gear shaft gets stuck, leaked coolant due to broken hose and transmission 62TE Solenoid Valve went out. Not a reliable vehicle. 👎
Same thing to my mom's white 09 Dodge Journey and the battery got fully charged and it still works fine
Depends on the previous owners' maintainance most of the time
The issue with it sometimes not starting might be the ground connection being bad. There's a few videos about how to fix it. Also Transmission Range Censor is sometimes the issue.

I don't know why everyone is hating on the "cheap plastic interior". Have you looked at Ford and GM's interior's for the past few years? They ALL went to cheap plastic interior. The button's on my GRANDMA's 2005 Chevy Equinox have rubbed off their labels in 30k miles. They've all 3 (maybe not GM) been working on bringing their cars back out of it. Look at the 2011 Jeep GC Interior. The 2010 Dodge Ram. The 2010 Ford Taurus. The 2010 Ford Fusion. All 100% better than previous model's interior.

@Motorfordtoyota The fuel injector's are what is ticking. They've always been somewhat loud on the Chrysler 3.3/3.8/3.5 V6's, along with the GM 3100/3400/3800 V6's.

Thanks for this awesome video. I am looking at one online right now that is about 70 miles from me. Same trim model and everything. I don't think I've ever seen a car with so many storage areas, many you'd never know were even there.

If you listen to the engine closely you will hear a tapping noise/clicking. This has been a problem with all the dodge/chrystler up to the hemi engines. This is the rock arm assemby consisting of two rock arm shafts and two rock arms. It has to be replaced and that sound will cease to exhist.
These engines are found in a bunch of different cars, like the Dodge Avenger, Dodge Nitro, Chrysler 300,
Dodge Charger and Challenger, Dodge Magnum, and Dodge Journey.
This noise is normally caused by the rocker arms. Under the intake manifold there are 2 rocker arm assemblies.
These rocker arms are on a dowel, and over time the pin that keeps the rockers in place gets sheared or cut off.
This shifts the dowel and the rocker arms are no longer properly aligned, so the oiling holes in the rocker arms are
no longer in the proper spot, and therefore do not get the proper amounts of oil. This lack of oil to the arms causes
the noise.
The fix is to replace both sides of the rocker arm assembly. I don’t have a detailed video of how to do this, but I’ll go
over it briefly. You need to remove the upper intake manifold, remove the valve cover, remove the bolts and take
off the rocker arm assembly, and replace it with the new one, putting the bolts back on with 31 foot pound of
torque.
Recognize and/or learn about this common issues that affects Dodge and
Chrysler vehicles.
If you still have the warranty like I do take it to Dealership or your Mechanic of CHoice and get it repaired for free
Dealerships will tell you its normal ...but now you know they are not educated and you have fact and the knowledge now to correct them and have them to repair it as soon as possible.

Electroluminescent gauges should dim down when the headlights are turned on, not brighten.
My favorite feature is the plug in in the back of console for household appliance. I would probably shy away from my electirc skillet for chicken, but on a trip or long drive you could always use your crock pot.lol,sorry Kyle, I could not resist lol.

What is that pedal all the way on the left with writing (Push on Push off) ? Is that the brake lever ? And if it is why did they move it from the console area next to the gear shift ?

My mom has an 2009 journey se base and my one thing is the interior stains very easy and the brakes are touchy also has the 4cyl but it drives nice and flys

I agree. It's even better when you go up to a higher trim and get the Alpine. I just play most of my music sitting in my dad's 2015 Ram 1500 limited. I've been hearing rumors of Dodge going to Harman Cardan, but all the 2019s I've came across on UA-cam have the Alpine.
My mom Heidi Beth Smart Yerbic has a 2009 Dodge Journey SXT and it's white but it doesn't have a remote start but when she first bought it we traded in on our 1999 Plymouth Voueger van

@Moparman58 GMs Interiors are currently better than Toyotas (as I hate to say so), Fords, Chrysler/Dodge/Jeeps, Nissan, ect. GM, since Obama kicked wagoner out, has been on a very good roll. But, I must say this as well, Dodge seems to be improving quality. Using better materials, ect. But, Ford srews thing together better, but dont use high end materials like GM and Dodge are trying to do.

Love the stereo in the 2009 Dodge Journey, you didn't mention the flash light in the back left that charges off the battery, the glove box that allows you to cool 2 sodas, and I didn't see if that one has the 2 storage area's in the floor in the back.

that engine have a tick sound on the engine maybe the timing belt need to be change if not it may be low on oil.

we actually own this car and its the biggest piece of shit we have ever had..its more at the dealer then in our driveway...pretty good looking..good mileage BUT way too many issues -SADLY-
mina we just bought a dodge journey and we already have trouble with our starter on top of that it shifts into gear on its own and we are having trouble fixing the problem

@Motorfordtoyota yea i agree with that, i was surprised with toyotas interiors quality, it got pretty shitty. yea these newer gm's have really nice looking interiors, dodge is doing a nice job with it too.
i hate American made but i really like this car. Its good style, good performance and noise, hopefully reliable.
The coolness factor of dual exhaust has been cheapened because of everyday vehicles like this.

No, it's not. By saying current, I meant the 2011 models up to the 2013 ones, because if you don't know, the Journey received a facelift on 2011, which apart from receiving some minor changes on its exterior, it received major improvements on the interior. Compare the interior of this 2009 Dodge Journey, with the current one on Dodge's website. It's incredibly different.
