Darren Osborn , The man who tried to be everything to everyone and ended up being nothing to anybody - 😢🙁fantastic performance from Ashley Taylor Dawson 👏🏻😢
I fear Kyle has too many issues himself to be of adequate help to Darren. Had this been real life I would say both of them had equally high risk of attempting suicide. Not exactly sure why Darren has brought out the black dog, but Kyle seem to be clinging to a dream of domestic bliss to provide him happiness and security in his otherwise ultra lonely life. Therefore I am worried his eager to marry Nancy is not because he loves her more than anything, but because he clings onto the dream of family bliss for dear life - most likely, had it been real life, he needs that kind of commitment to convince himself he will stop taking an interest in males. Off course, if he is gay, the latter will just be an illusion, and his marriage to Nancy more a way of not facing the fact he is getting too old to be the kind of gay he used to be when he was younger and could any get man he wanted in gay clubs and -bars. The fact he smokes weed in tears when he is alone is very telling of something being seriously wrong. I am afraid Darren should not hope for too much from Kyle. Kyle seems to have more than enough with himself.
@@Tvjunkieful12 I had no idea Kyle had so much on his plate already (relatively new viewer who relies on ppl on here to upload storylines and sadly I haven't seen much of his). But the fact that he noticed that Darren wasn't OK and that he wasn't afraid to ask the difficult questions is to me huge already. He isn't a professional, from what I know, and shouldn't take it all on himself to help Darren get well again. Hopefully he'll help Darren seek professional help or at least convince him to open up to Mandy or someone else too who then can point him in the right direction. And when Darren is feeling a bit better maybe he can help Kyle in return!
What a performance from both guys I’m crying like a baby because of how much I relate. This is by far (for me) the best storyline done by Hollyoaks well done 👍
It was so obvious that Kyle was talking about himself and not his "friend from rehab". Nicely acted scenes, the whole being in a fog part was spot on ☹
@@ChelseyLinden I meant that the way Kyle described the fog you feel like you're in during depression was "spot on". As in, he described it perfectly and accurately.
Depression is not easy to cope with, I've struggled with it in the past and at some point it feels like your at rock bottom and wish to not exist anymore. But I'm happy to pull through it but this makes me tear up a lot
Mirage Mashod Trust me I know the feeling. I've felt like this ever since my Childhood. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I made two video's about them on my channel, if you want you can take a look at them.
I think both Ashley Taylor Dawson and Adam Rickitt has been great for years and years. Both of them own their characters (Darren and Kyle) completely, and contributes much more to them than what the writers and storyliners give them to work with.
I know that’s meant to be a compliment but Ashley has always been a fantastic actor. It’s always because he’s mainly a cheery lad character but he has had serious storylines before, but this is the first major one. I am actually surprised personally that he has not won (has he even been nominated)? best Male actor at the soap awards yet.
Kyle was so great when he first arrived - only to seriously botch it up when he left, telling Darren he wouldn`t tell anyone, but keep it a secret between the two of them. Making Darren feeling different in a negative way all over again. What he should have been doing was asking Darren what now. Getting Darren`s mind and motivation focused on positive measures to solve his problems, more than making him just as helpless and useless as he had felt before Kyle came. Darren might even have wanted Kyle to be the one to break the news to Mandy about his depression, cause he couldn`t cope being there himself, in case she was disappointed or worried. I fear Kyle more needed a fellow sufferer to chat with for his own sake, than was of much help to Darren. Which makes me equally worried for Kyle`s state of mind, as for Darren`s. He wants to believe getting married to Nancy is the best thing that ever has happened to him. But is Nancy more a crutch, than a partner? Is he so keen to get married because he fears he could be going back to men, if it didn`t happen soon? Something has made him feeling a need to start smoking weed again - and he does it on his own, not as party of a crowd of friends, or in a party setting. Had Kyle been a real life person, and not a fictional tv character, I would not have been at all certain marrying Nancy would be what would make the two of them the most happy. I fear Kyle both is in denial about his true self, and therefore is a potential suicide risk, because of an extreme sense of loneliness he previously tried to drown with sex with men and partying - and which he now tries to drown in dream of domestic bliss and family life. The danger is if the latter proves less of a bliss, and being part of a family can be trying for everyone once and again, how will he cope? Or wont he cope at all?
@Josh Adams I happen to know that some do, but if you don`t want to read it - who is forcing to? You are free to do exactly as you please. And so am I.
Catherine x Why'd you delete this reply: "I think Kyle may take his own life, and Darren is upset because he didn't see the signs that Kyle was struggling either and he probably found him and tried to save him etc, maybe"? 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨
Poor Darren I know exactly how he's feeling about this, because I do everyday I've been seeing a counselor for 22 Years and she's like a Mother to me and she's always been helping me but still I've been feeling the same way like Darren is because where I've been living at People here have been making me feel like I'm weak and hopeless and I even tried to commit suicide twice here but after the Years went by I stopped and I also used to hurt myself by cutting my wrists but then I stopped that as well but I still feel weak and hopeless! It's like I have no Friends!!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Also at 3:48 when Kyle told Darren that he (Kyle) and Nancy are getting married in 10 Weeks, the reaction on his face looked like he was jealous and I hope Darren will tell Jack, Nancy and their Sons'/Grandsons' Charlie and Oscar and they'll find a way to help him.
Hope you take this the right way, cause I mean well. If you have seen the same counselor for 22 years, but still have the same issues as when you started, you should consider finding another counselor. Maybe what you need is someone less like a mother, and more like something else (mentor type, sergeant type, professor type, buddy-like?)? Who helps you address your issues in life, and helps empower you to solve them, instead of filling the role of a substitute mother. 22 years is an awfully long time to be in treatment, at least for the issues you described. You being American too, I imagine this substitute mother doesn`t come for free. Off course, there could be factors you haven`t mentioned here that could explain this set up. And you said you had stopped the most concerning issues, if I can phrase it like that. But I have to admit after 22 years your counselor hasn`t attempted building up your confidence, advised you to find a hobby you like, and through which you could meet other people with the same interest, that really surprises me. Then again, I do not know all the details, so I should be careful about concluding too fast. But still, 22 years is a very long time, when not feeling to have friends is such a big issue for you. It pains me to hear that after seeing a counselor for 22 years you feel weak and hopeless. No one should feel like that. We all feel powerless sometimes - particularly when facing tough situations of any kind (loss, illness, tough medical treatment, break ups etc). But if that is how you have felt for 22 years, and still feel, that is awful. All human beings have something which makes them unique and priceless - with some people it is just easier to spot their greatness (world records, acting awards, test results, elections and so on). But that is not what is unique about human beings - cause world records will be beaten, elections are win some and lose some, same with acting awards and test results. What matter is who we are. That unique combination of genes, background and experience. The three tools which shapes any human sculpture. No one exactly the same, and one of them you. And you are good enough! If you are not entirely happy with yourself and your life, well, than you do what you feel you have to do to improve it. But be aware that nobody gets everything in life. Regardless how rich you are, there will always be someone who has something you would want, but cant have. Regardless how good you look, there will always be someone who think someone else looks better. Regardless how clever you are, there will always be something you will not know, be able to solve or understand. In fact there likely are many people in the world both less powerful, less good looking, less clever and everything else you can think of, than yourself. But probably not in one person, and probably who also have other things they outshine you in. It is just a matter of how you regard a glass - half full, or half empty. Do you have ONLY say two friends - or do you have two good, or close, friends. Two of the latter is often better than a hundred guests at your party you barely know who are, but makes the photos look impressive. What people show is not always what they have. So don`t be fooled into thinking other people lead fantastic lives, and you are missing out. Life is for living - not for envy. The point in life is not to shine to be seen, but for our lights to provide warmth and guidance for others. Even if it is just holding open the door for someone with a smile, so they easier will get in or out, you will be of use by spreading joy and being helpful. And by likely getting a smile and a thanks in return, you will feel even better yourself. Life is not about being number 1 - but about making other people feel like number 1.
Tvjunkieful12 Yeah I agree with you, having a therapist whose like a mother might feel great, but it’s not necessarily healthy. It lacks the boundaries that’s needed between professional and client and could mean you’re not actually getting the help you need or working on stuff you need too. I saw a therapist for 2 years who I got on with and it started fine but then found we weren’t actually working on anything and it was more just talking on the right now rather than the stuff I’d worked on. I moved on with a different therapist and got the help I needed from someone who wanted to be supportive but didn’t want to be a parental figure to me.

@@BrianNotBjernie I don`t think the problem is she can not see he is changed. I think it is more that how he has changed upsets her, she wants the old Darren she fell in love with back, and is unable to take in that the changes in him can be more serious than she recognizes. The problem isn`t their relationship, or Darren as a person - the problem is that he has a depression.
