The popcorn from Walmart is a GEM. I always buy from there because it’s non-gmo and only $1-2/pound. Can’t beat that! And I was THRILLED when I finally saw them sell a jam with no high fructose corn syrup.
My hard red wheat berries and whole corn shipped from azure this month but they were only 25lb bags. So thankful I’m well stocked in grains so I’m not panicking right now. You’re right - people are panic buying which is causing shortages too.

Is all popcorn Non GMO cause the GMO won’t pop- or so I thought? have tried to get grains for the past 4 months without luck! I found some smaller quantities at Natural Grocers that will do for now. Do you have a grain mill you recommend? I am getting one once I decide cause we don’t want to wear out our Viramix making flour. Love your Channel!!

@@RowesRising last time I checked, it was only sweet yellow corn that is GMO. Not popcorn. Completely different type of corn.
What specific grains are you trying to get? I know hard white is nearly impossible to get. I think that's a favorite. Plus your ancient grains are very hard to get too.

I’ll be sure to get the right popcorn! Thanks!
I want hard white and hard red- I like a mix of both for sourdough and daily sandwich loaf. Of course I’d love ancient grains like Einkorn but it’s pretty costly- I’m sure worth it. I’ve never baked with Einkorn. I have recently dabbled with spelt but only as an addition to hard red and white and not a sole wheat ingredient on its own- a little nervous I’d waste it-not using the correct hydration. The first time I used it I had to keep adding more flour cause my dough was like goey soup. I need an actual spelt recipe vs using my own and altering it. I appreciate your suggestions!!

@@RowesRising I LOVE spelt pancakes! And you can just use what my recipe calls for no problem. As far as Einkorn, I agree about the cost. But it makes the BEST muffins (it will be very liquidy, but don't add more flour. It's fine). The muffins comes out very spongy. My husband loves it!

Please let us know what you think about that brand of cheese. I would love the individually-wrapped ones. Also the country save detergent is amazing! It only takes about a quarter of a cup and it's the only thing that gets the sweat smell out of my husband's work clothes. I bought the big 40 lb bag and it lasts forever! I have a family of eight. Bought the big bag about 6 months ago and have only used maybe about 1/3 or less of the bag. Makes laundry very inexpensive. Cleans so well.

    • @RowesRising

It’s so good!! I just shredded some on our eggs- yum!! It is mild with a creamy consistency on the palate. The kids love it too. They are picky about cheese. I’ll be ordering this again, maybe I’ll double up cause we seem to be going through it quicker.
I just did my first load in the washer with Country Save so I’ll know once it’s dry how I like it. Dingy Towels- we shall see if it passes the test! I’m sure it will!

I'm trying to source hard white wheat berries from someone else and believe our Amish community can supply it. I know they carry the hard golden berries. There is always ample supplies when I place the order with Azure, but they never make it on the truck. I cannot justify driving over an hour for the smaller items, so I am only ordering the berries on the next order. If they don't make it to the truck then I'm not obligated for the time and gas. Thanks for sharing! Great haul!

I’m curious to see how you like the country save detergent. I use Molly’s Suds and love it but I just wish I could get it in a giant bag. I also watch the azure cart until the cut off so I can switch from big bags to smaller bags or different brand to try and get what I need. Last time I had to get the flour in ten pound bags too. It was more expensive than the #50 pound bag but still much much cheaper than organic flour in stores. We also buy sunbutter here. And we are super lucky to get raw milk, meat and other dairy products at a local farm. We have our own chickens for eggs and can’t wait to get my garden in. Always love seeing what people eat and buy! Thanks for sharing.

You have to be registered as a company and you only get the discount on yout tax return 🤔 which grocery prices are really in the rise in the US? • @RowesRising
      @RowesRising  2 роки тому +1

Fuel is through the roof and it’s effecting all food costs here as far as I can tell. This isn’t wholesale- we are paying retail but larger quantities are a little less.
We don’t have access to a local farm veg box like we did when we lived in the UK. We do have a seasonal farmers market. I sure do miss the local farmers markets, farm stands, and getting my eggs from a roadside stand. I also used to get a weekly Abel & Cole box that we loved! I wish it were that simple at our current location. We are fairly “remote” and are surrounded by snow capped mountain passes that makes supply here more costly as well. We are in a high desert so growing food here has its challenges, plus deer have broke into my garden and eaten all my harvests in years past. I’m still hopeful to grow some food.

Edit: with your autoimmune disease, can you tolerate freshly ground wheats etc? I think as far as gluten goes- it’s the mass produced hluten products that have glyphosate in them that’s the issue. Organic and non GMO wheat berries have not effected as far as I can tell…
BUT! I cannot eat any mass manufactured gluten products!!! They cause me horrendous stomach spasms and pain. It’s bizarre and debilitating. So I only eat homemade bread. My family tolerates everything that I do not.

@@RowesRising Nido is in the Mexican section and is so good. I use it for baking and have tasted it for milk and I would drink it if I had to. I did buy A2A2 dry milk from Azure because everyone raved about it. I tried it as plain milk and it was awful to me. I can't even explain what it tasted like and my first thought was it was at the beginning of going rancid but since I've never experienced rancid powered milk I'm just not sure. I did make a hot chocolate mix with it and it was just ok in that and I ended up adding half and half to make it thicker. I am not picky with foods but for the price of Azures I'd take Nido any day. Then I watched a taste test of a mom and her older two kids and they said the same exact thing about the taste. So since you know what it should taste like try a small amount first before doing like me and buying a huge bag. If you've not tried the pineapple slices they are really good also. We're hooked on them and mango's. Are the banana's sprayed with a sweetener or are they just plain? Their Flame Raisins are just wonderful plump and so sweet. I've watched your azure hauls before and thought I'd subbed and saw I hadnt so did today. Thanks for sharing.

You know I think I saw the Nido and wondered about it. I do shop the Mexican section looking for bulk beans etc and the spice Star Anise… strangely I haven’t found that in a year- we use it in tea for coughs. I will grab some Nido if it’s in stock next haul! Thanks again for all your recommendations. It helps so much!
