2.18 When to remove ashes completely
A frequently asked question that we get is, Should all of the ashes be removed each time that a new fire is started. The answer to this question is no. It is best that you leave about an inch of ashes and coals in the bottom of your firebox to make it easier to build and maintain a fire. The hot coals tend to nestle into the ash and glow, adding more heat to the fuel and reflecting the heat back into the fire. Another benefit of that small layer of ash; it protects the floor of the firebox.
It is recommended that you use an Ash Container with a lid to conveniently store removed ash on your hearth. This keeps the mess and dust contained also prevents hot embers from falling out causing damage.

Push your ash at angel in the back of your it's creates a push if heat to the front of the stove to the blower..make your not blocking any interior air flow holes or grates. Try find Ash wood to burn it's by far the best. Lots very little kinneling.. damper should be about 1/3 open after you get the fire going...Don't burn pine would it will create a fire in your chimneys...very dangerous to burn pine of any kind..

I recycle my ash (did I spell that right? 😊) in my compost bin. Or you can mixed that into plants or ground too.
