Film star Hedy Lamarr could have made the list; she helped to invent a method of preventing torpedoes from being jammed during WW2, which was used decades later in more advanced technology.
Hell yes.. Gina Davis she's my favorite... and even Sir Rowan Atkinson..
You forgot James Wood with his 175 iq, now that is impressive. And Stephen Fry, that is why I spit on this video.
I was gonna unsubscribe if Brian May wasn’t on here. I wasn’t disappointed

Brian May -- lead guitarist of the rock band Queen, and earned a PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College London in 2007
Legitimately? Or did he take the "Hey, I'm a Rockstar and I want to go to a great school so I can come off as smart" path?
They are not the same thing.
@@MikeLhawdsUA-camAccountHandle Legitimately. He started working on his PhD before the band made it big then got back into his research years later to complete his PhD. He has also done some work with NASA
Yeah he is very intelligent
He is working in this field now.
He was also the Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University
Brain May, one of the greatest guitarists of all time and an astrophysics genius. No wonder why his guitar playing takes you to another planet.
@matt fahringer have you heard of Queen?
Will be tubing and googling.
Love the profile pic!!
@matt fahringer Queen was a rock band formed in the 1970s. Freddy Mercury was its lead singer. He died of AIDS, unfortunately. Look up the band Queen and Freddy Mercury on google. You might be interested to learn for the first time about this band that you never heard of.
@matt fahringer If that was too long for you to read then you must have a very short attention span. LOL
Loved seeing Brian May top the list. He's not merely one of the greatest rock guitarists/composers of all time and a doctor of astrophysics. He's also an authority and published author of 3D stereoscopic photography, the founder of the Save Me Trust, which is a non-profit organization for the protection of wildlife, the vice-president of the RSPCA, and a spokesperson and activist for animal rights for dozens of other organizations. He's not just a musical superstar - he's nailed it on every possible level.
I worked with his partner briefly and got to meet him, he is also kind, generous and gracious, a truly brilliant person
And I thought I was ambitious
John Lennon is far more intelligent, and even more importantly a much better artist.
@@fshoapsLennon was perhaps street smart, but please, don’t compare him to Brian May. You’re being embarrassing.
Plus, Brian May's signature "Red Special" guitar was the first he ever owned and he built it at home with his dad!
What about Hedy Lamarr? There's a good documentary about all the inventions she patented and suggested for use in WWII.
That's HEDLEY!
That's exactly what I'm saying!
These others are smart, but NONE of them gave us a world-changing technology like she did!!
She is in the inventors hall of fame.

Do U know where to write to Dr May? (Where to send a letter, email or DM?)
Should be #1
Hedley Lamar one of Hollywood's first great beauty queens, developed technology in world war 2 that now forms the basis of wifi, cell phones, blue tooth... woman basically helped invent the 21st century
She would have won a Nobel Prize if she had been a man.
She co-invented the 'concept', but not the 'operation or function' of WiFi or frequency hopping, since her mechanical-electro invention was never aptly demonstrated although a patent for it exists (Patents do not need to be proven by the way). It took the development of binary computing (thank you Dr. von Neumann) and micro-electronics for frequency hopping to become a viable functioning reality. Hedy rightfully deserves c-credit for the concept however!
Heddy Lamar! Harvey Korean was Hedly Lamar in BLAZING SADDLES
Co-inventor
Excuse me what formed the basis of cell phones and other wireless technology belongs to Nikola Tesla! I suggest you look up all of the inventions that are used today that he's credited for! Maybe that's where Hedy Lamar got her inspiration.?
No mention of Weird Al!? For shame. Valedictorian of his high school at 16. Went to Cal Poly with a degree in architecture. Musical prowess like no other.

I’m surprised they missed David Duchovny. He did his undergrad at Princeton and got his Masters at Yale. He completed his dissertation for his PhD at Yale before his acting career took off. He didn’t go back, but still pretty remarkable.
Idk who this is but when you say he “completed his dissertation for his PhD” do you mean he got the PhD? People usually defend their dissertation before finishing it and formally submitting it.
@@aliioana8586 I think it’s called “all but dissertation”. In his case I think the dissertation was written but not defended because his acting career took off in the interim
I was gonna mention Duchovny too!! I remember he kicked ass on celebrity jeopardy. So did the late Luke Perry from 90120.
@🖤Ali Ioana🖤 he played Fox Mulder on The X-Files TV show.
and he graduated magna cum laude from yale as well
Brian May is one of my all time heroes. Not only is he a genius in many subjects, he is also a life long campaigner against animal cruelty. In addition, he is one of the nicest people on the planet. As a Brit, I’m hugely proud of the British representation in this list! ❤️🇬🇧
Robin Williams. It takes 100% of one’s brain to think on as many levels as he has.

Kris Kristofferson: Bacherlor of Arts degree summa cum laude from Pomona College, Rhodes Scholar, Master's from Oxford, Attained the rank of Captain in the US Army where he was a helicopter pilot & graduated Ranger school, Turned down an offer to teach English Lit at West Point to become a musician.

Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder is absolutely brilliant. It is frustrating that he is best known for Mr. Bean as his acting abilities are way beyond that character.
Brian May is a f**king genius....Great pick for number 1
having a bachelor degree doesnt make them "the smartest" of anything..
What's even more impressive about Tarantino is the fact he never went too film school
He said he went to films instead
Few of the greats never went as well. Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan and even Steven Spielberg. Who tried to get into film school to only get rejected.
@@TallicaMan1986 actually, Spielberg did attend film school, but he dropped out and then went back to finish his degree after already winning several Oscars. He had long been friends with fellow classmates Martin Scorcese, Brian DePalma, Francis Ford Coppola, and George Lucas.
Then the was this guy Kubrick who had the IQ of around 200.
He studied filmmaking by watching film. He didn't copy paste scenes from old movies to his own, he's just paying tribute and homage to that film

The computer peripherals you're using right now are thanks to Hedy Lemarr.
Only if the peripherals are wireless. My wired all-in-one HP scanner\printer was a $80 cheaper than the wireless version so guess which one I bought.
...that's Headley...
Rowen and Sacha Baron Cohen are both very intelligent. If you watch them out of character, they come across as scholars. Ironic that they both did so well playing silly characters. Rowen slowed down playing Mr. Bean because he wanted to play more who he was in real life. Regardless, they both seem really nice, so glad they did so well with such entertaining characters.
I agree with you 100%, it's amazing to watch both of them in interviews because they're polar opposites of the naive characters characters they play
One loves humanity, the other does not. You choose which because you don't mean a thing to one.
Speaking of Sacha Baron Cohen, he's been lucky this year with two Oscar nods in his belt with an Oscar nod for Best Adapted Screenplay for Borat Subsequent Film and Best Supporting Actor for Aaron Sorkin's The Trial of the Chicago 7.

It’s criminal that you guys didn’t include “Weird Al” Yankovic.
University of Pennsylvania is an Ivy League school. Some "settle" for John Legend!!
Brian May reminds me of Isaac Newton with that grey curly hairdo
The comparisons are really that obvious.
That's why some people joke he is Isaac Newton that born again to play a guitar
newton wore a powdered wig
yeah, Isaac wanted to copied his guitar skills, but at the end he just left with his hairstlye 😂
Might be why he does his hair the way he does!!
Harry Hill and Stephen Fry?
You prioritised popular ones over actual intelligent ones.
This is a canadian channel initially. Probably don't know who Harry Hill is.
And in a sense, Stephen Fry is more known for his intelligence now than his comedy. With hosting QI being his main gig for quite some years as opposed to the sketch comedy and acting he started doing, he's now sort of the go-to knowledgable celebrity.
Should have been an honourable mention for Dexter Holland of the Offspring- considering his PhD in molecular biology
exactly
I think he was a candidate for it, but I don't think he actually got his PhD. I'm pretty sure he just has his masters in molecular biology

John Legend married that psycho woman.... so his intelligence is overrated
Angela Bassett is amazing and unbelievably talented! 💜
Also gorgeous!!
Not sure how she made the list though. What exactly did she do that was noteworthy?
Yes you listed Dr. Brain May. But you forgot to say he named an asteroid after Freddie Mercury for Freddie's 70th birthday.
How cool was that!?!?!?
Your research and presentation is excellent! Thank you!
As a music teacher and guitarist who teaches History of Rock n' Roll, I was grinning at #1--May also pioneered an electric guitar tone with perfectly boosted mid range and judiciously applied distortion that could make his instrument sound like a flute or a human voice, allowing his solos to sing like no other rock guitarist.
No Hedy Lamarr?
The 1940's film siren became a pioneer in the field of wireless communications following her emigration to the United States. The international beauty icon, along with co-inventor George Anthiel, developed a "Secret Communications System" to help combat the Nazis in World War II. By manipulating radio frequencies at irregular intervals between transmission and reception, the invention formed an unbreakable code to prevent classified messages from being intercepted by enemy personnel.
Lamarr and Anthiel received a patent in 1941, but the enormous significance of their invention was not realized until decades later. It was first implemented on naval ships during the Cuban Missile Crisis and subsequently emerged in numerous military applications. But most importantly, the "spread spectrum" technology that Lamarr helped to invent would galvanize the digital communications boom, forming the technical backbone that makes cellular phones, fax machines, and other wireless operations possible.
And yet she's not on this list. Okay (rolling eyes)
Conan being smart is not a surprise. Most of the Simpsons writers and producers from that golden age were from the Ivy League colleges.
I LOVE smart people! So glad to learn about these folks!

This was VERY entertaining! I had no idea about several of these celebrities. Danica Mckellar could have been higher, in my opinion. But, I am thrilled that Brian May is number one! When Queen were in their heyday, I knew that all four members had master's degrees. And, for him to complete his PhD, after Queen was done, and work with NASA on the mission to Mars is fantastic!
I think most members of Monty Python are pretty smart. Michael Palin and Terry Jones met at Oxford University. John Clease and Graham Chapman met at Cambridge University. Eric Idle also studied at Cambridge but started a year later.
Yep, I think that Terry Jones has his work on Chaucer accepted as a standard text
I think intelligent celebrities are a dime a dozen in Britain. It turns out the band with the most education (it’s not Queen!) is called Henry Cow out of Cambridge University in the late 60’s. They were an experimental rock band and the degreed members were aplenty. More so than any other band to date. And that reflected in the music they created and produced.
Fun fact: John’s surname is actually Cheese!
@@nathalieconnor5803 almost, try 'Cleese'
@@lorrainearmstrong7587 You ought to have garnered a clue from the use of the word ‘actually’. Bryan Holland, front man for The Offspring has a PHD in molecular biology
Marilyn Monroe (owning a higher IQ than Einstein!), Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, Bruce Dickinson, and the whole cast of Python (not only John Cleese) could be on the list.
Sure!!!!! Director Billy Wilde could not get her to remember her simple lines in the movie "Some Like it Hot!"
@@edmundcharles5278 so?
Marilyn might indeed have had a high IQ. But she sure didn’t utilize it
@@suekelley2109 she was just married to one of the smartest men of his generation. You should hear Miller talk about Marilyn.
And a great hitter. Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?
How on Earth is Hedy Lamarr not on this list????!!!! Her work on frequency hopping technology in World War 2 still has applications to this day!
When I see Chadwick, I just tear up. Just a loss............. RIP ~
8:59 Yes, John Legends can't dl a lot of things. Some examples-fly, make a video game, teleport
Dolph Lundgren
Tarantino’s scene in Pulp Fiction is so underrated 😂 it’s beautifully acted, and hilariously written.
Glad you featured Brian May
Do not confuse being educated, with being smart.
Dolph Lundgren also speaks 14 fucking languages yo. That’s ridiculous yo!
I don’t think so! another Hollywood press agent probably passed that notion around. There are a miniscule number of people in this world who are fluent in more that 5-6 languages. It is true that some people seem to have a talent and ear for foreign languages.
Milo Aukerman from the band The Descendents has a PhD in molecular biology, Dexter Holland from the band The Offspring has a PhD in molecular biology, Greg Graffin from the band Bad Religion has a PhD in zoology, and Jim Parsons has an MFA.
Where was David Duchovny? Yale & Princeton.
"Mr. Beans" IQ is around 180. It fits just so perfect
Dexter Holland, lead singer of "The Offspring" has a PhD in microbiology. He should be on this list!
Dont forget has an amazing hot sauce company lol
Heard him on Q last week and he is down to earth and likeable.
not to mention he's a licensed pilot
I had no idea... wonder if he's figured out how to count in Spanish yet
Glad Rowan aka Mr. Bean is on this list, but didn’t mention Hedy Lamarr, James Woods, Chris Pratt, they’re very smart celebs!
Brook shields went to Princeton. Very smart girl !
@@kathychinski6308 she majored in literature. Unlike most celebrities who don’t major anything in college, they just act like clowns on Twitter!
There is also Bryan Keith "Dexter" Holland, the lead singer of The Offspring who had attained a PhD degree in molecular biology :D
I'm surprised I had to scroll so far to see someone bring him up.
@@jedikaiti so you scrolled RIGHT PAST about 3 other comments on this same guy. I saw them and I do NOT care who he is
Being educated does not equal being intelligent. Some degrees contribute nothing to society, and having a degree in acting and becoming an actor just means you got a job in your field
And yet, education is what 'others' claim intellect is all about. I could never understand paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to study CRAP for 7 years for whatever reason. I went to smaller colleges, got THE SAME DIPLOMAS, but no messy degrees to bother myself with
Tarantino is definetley a crazy genius XD
There's a huge difference between being intellgent and being educated.
A great absentee from the list: Bruce Dickinson, who has been referred to as a "living example of a polymath" by "Intelligent Life" magazine.
On a separate note: YES, completely agree with number 1!!
I usually don't comment but...
Many of the people of the people on this list have inspired me to keep studying and writing.
This was a really good "WatchMojo".
Thank you
Every time I see that Basic Instinct scene I think 'Hello Newman"
