This touches on a good point in watch collecting... it’s difficult to get a fair price on your watch. People want deals and to “buy well”. I’ve sold two of my watches where I had a fair price in mind but had to settle on less to get a deal done in a reasonable amount of time. Hopefully you’ll have better luck and the right buyer comes around
I managed to buy the same watch at an AD for €3300 in 2019 . I was traveling so managed to get the Tax off in addition to the discount. I now buy all my Omega watches from the same AD and always wait until I travel so I can get up to 28% off retail better than Jomashop directly from an Omega AD.
Good to have you back on UA-cam Guy ! I agree, being told your price expectations are too high for this very piece in great condition you bought a few thousand dollars more two years before really sucks. Been there.
@@JustBlueFish Now that sounds a lot more appealing. Most people don't care about add on bit and bobs . The NATO strap will sell on ebay easy as will the strap upgrade. You will get the same price you want just in a different way
@@JustBlueFish First, I wish you good luck with your work/business and full recovery from this pandemy situation. Up to my experience, "90%" of buyers only care to get the lowest price as possible, and they are not interested in addons. Buyers of pre-owned watches buy them to save money, not to get extra goodies, guarantee, not even original papers and box. Also please note that the listings on eBay and Chrono24 are the ones which cannot sell at listed price for a long time. In case you have time, you just need to wait tha someone interested comes bye and buy the watch. Market price listings dissappear in a matter of days, and unfortunately, pre-owned Speedmaster seems to be closer to 3500$ in case seller wants to do a quick sale.
You're right quick-adjust or ratcheting clasps are a must-own upgrade for a bracelet on any watch you plan to daily wear. It makes them so much more comfortable to wear all day. And you can get 3rd party well-made ones for as low as $50 to $60.
A couple of years ago, Omega ADs was offering those discounts, but not anymore, they realise it was having an effect on the brand. Unless you really really have to don't do it
Perhaps the wrong clasp is a turnoff to buyers. Maybe try to get the eBay 4K with the proper clasp and no extras then sell those things separately to cover some of the eBay fees. Good luck
Without the clasp and strap I’d have taken 3600$. Not sure why more people didn’t make offers or try to negotiate. I never said it was all or nothing. But it sold anyway so no worries.
Great seeing you back Guy! Stay deadfast on your price I say. While you're right there competitively, the value of a watch is also how you value it as a collector. Good luck with your sale!

AD in Sydney Australia named Shume Watches & Jewellery used to offer 25-28% off on Omega back in 2018 when I visited. But as you said in this video, those days are long gone. $4000 used in this condition is very well priced. Can I ask if this watch still available?
If you put something up for sale then people want the best price for “used.” It’s the garage sale mentality. If you don’t get any bites lower it a couple hundred and watch. I suggest keep it if you can.
Wow this sounds like a rant video because someone tried to lowball you. I feel like when you desperately want to sell something, you don't show people that you really really need to sell it. They will always try and get a low price on it. It applies to everything.
I only buy upper mid range watches like Hamilton, Ball and Longines. I normally sell without any problems on eBay - I got scammed once, but that's just the risk you have to accept. Selling high end watches is more difficult - most people can pay $400 but $4,000 is serious coin.
Hi Guy! Good to see new content from you again. I reckon all our fingers are crossed for you. No point in finding an excuse for your asking price. If you find someone who is willing to pay the price everything is fine. Why bother about people who try to haggle?
Well truth is those people weren’t haggling. They weren’t even making offers. Just criticizing. That said they were wrong. Sold today and basically got what I wanted (buyer didn’t want extra NATO so I knocked $150 off the price).
The clasp is an excellent upgrade and adds a lot of value. I did the same on my Speedmaster after struggling to get a decent fit with the stock clasp, and it transformed the wearability of the bracelet. Good luck with the sale
@@manuel_winde I bought it in London Omega boutique. I ordered the clasp (code is 117STZ001154) plus 2 end links (118ST1589), quoted cost was £165. They charged me a less when I went to pick them up for some reason, perhaps a mistake!

I know you’re definitely not trying to use your youtube “celebrity” to push this price. But the reality is no one is going to buy a used speed master that has it’s history catalogued on many videos online. It’s a super cheap given the peace of mind buying this watch from you.
People are going to watch this video in 2 years and say wow Speedys use to be that cheap!? Once Omega updates the Speedy Pro and raises the price $1500. All Speedys will go up, new and old.
I also did sell some of my beloved watches last 2019 when i needed money. It was a really sad move but i had to. Hope all goes well with you and your family.
Good luck with the sale guy. Hope you fall on better times soon.you are probably the most in-depth watch reviewer out there. I don't always agree with your likes and dislikes but that's always subjective. Anyway glad to see you back.
The problem with getting what the watch is worth is that you will have to wait. I would rather take less money to move it quickly. There are always better deals out there that people are more likely to take over the guy that wants to get what the watch is worth.
When the recession hit in 2008-2010 sold the majority of my vintage Heuer collection from the 60's. I have been collecting since the early90's. Did not do so hot. Learned my lesson. I promised myself I would never put myself in a position where I could not get top dollar.Built a new Collection focusing on Omega Seamasters and Speemasters. I had the identical watch you have. The gigantic moon box with loop etc. I think I bought in late 2017 / early 2018. Anyway, the prices for Watches seemed pretty high, so I sold everything except for two Seamasters in the start of 2019. Did not want to repeat 2008 / 2010. Did pretty well. The thing about 1861 MOTM is that there is ABSOLUTELY no shortage. You can buy one anytime. No very rare. Not a 321. People are buying. This has been my best year selling collectibles on E Bay ever. So you never know. It has been an insane year. People are stuck at home and just buying. So from my experience it COULD sell for4k. I would not buy a 1861 for more than 3500.
Hi Guy, sorry to hear about your predicament..you are not alone..Good luck with the sale, its a great example of this model and a fair price. Take care..👍
When there’s not a huge price difference between preowned and what it can be had for new many would just rather pay the extra for a new piece . Think your price is quite fair given the extras but not everyone is interested in extras and are often unwilling to pay more for them . This may limit your market somewhat..
Hope you get back to normal over there as soon as possible, this pandemic has no doubt caused a lot of financial harm for people all over the world to varying degrees. Hopefully you get the asking price for your watch - at least that will make that bitter pill of having to sell it go down a bit easier.
It’s a fair price with those extras . I think omega have had three price rises in the last 2 years in the uk. And discounts are 10% at most now. They are pricey now
My FOIs cost $2500 and $700 for minor repair and fixing. Asking for $4000 for something almost brand new and under warranty is definitely reasonable in my opinion
Wishing you the best and I hope things get back to normal for you brother. As to the watch -- the asking price is fair. For those thinking it isn't... how often does a seller have a high resolution step through video of the condition of the watch? Go through the comps yourself.
Can't take people to seriously when they complain about the price. Every time I sell anything of value on the Internet or OfferUp I get a bunch of people who write in and say "I could get that for such-and-such price over here." But it's never true. Anyways, I wish I could buy it, but I'm gearing up to sell a watch or to myself. I just haven't committed to selling them yet
You know if someone wants to make an offer, even a little lowball I’m fine with it. But people that just crap on your asking price with no intent or interest are annoying AF. Anyway it sold earlier today so no big deal.
Sure you may find this model for less than your asking price, but for someone who has already decided they want this model it would be an awesome deal, the clasp is a real selling point as well
Good luck with your sale buddy. I have one and hopefully will never part with it. There’s a lot to be said of collecting affordable watches. I sold my steinhart, squale a d 2 seikos all in the same week and I was only around £50 down.
It’s a shame having to sell that but I understand, by now you’ve probably found someone who appreciates a well maintained watch, I personally think it’s a good deal, I’ve also had to unload a few of my watches for much less than I payed, I don’t think I would have gotten rid of that Speedmaster but that’s me, I hope you actually decided to keep it...
Although on a completely different level I’m selling a seiko that someone told they go for 220 on eBay, my answer was the same, why didn’t they buy it on there 🤷♀️
If you return the watch to stock, you have a buyer right here for those extras! FYI, I paid 3900 for a new Speedy last year on the grey market. I think your price is fair but maybe not aggressively competitive and that’s what people tend to look for preowned. It is in fantastic condition. Wow. Mine is younger and is much more dinged up. Anyway, I think the extras only make sense if you already have a Speedy and have struggled with this trap house of a micro adjustment system. 😂
Just a thought, but is this unique to your location at all? I have picked up a Speedmaster racing a week ago from an AD - here in the U.K. this retailed for £7450 GBP and I paid £5400GBP. During the negotiations I was offered a hesalite speedy, they retail here for £4200GBP and I was offered this for a touch over £3000GBP. Same with the Mark II, so is this not the case in the USA right now? The only items I pay retail for are Rolex but maybe here in the U.K. it's easier to discount Omega, or the exchange rate is messing up the maths? As a watch collector I know that feeling of wanting to sell, but at the same time hoping the sale falls through so I can keep the watch! Hope whichever situation works best for you happens - great to see you back after a break
I would tell those people saying they can get it cheaper to go buy those. Anyway, I think your price is fair, and I didn't know there was a clasp upgrade available, so I learned something. I do want a Speedy eventually, but that probably won't happen for a few years.
This sounds obvious, but if there are a lot of the same model listed for sale at the same price, you’ll need to go below if you want to attract the attention of an interested buyer. Especially if they’re not moving quickly. Looks to be in impeccable condition. Sure the YT exposure will help. All the best, C.
JustBlueFish Watch Reviews Good news! I’ve been there myself. I hope the buyer is the type of person who appreciates the condition in which you’ve presented the watch rather than merely being concerned with the bottom line. Hope to see more videos from you in due course. All the best! C.
Don't worry, Guy, I get it and it's honestly why I avoid watches that don't retain value very well at this point, or just get budget watches and take the hit. Otherwise you have to deal with people that would try to haggle you down even it was free, LOL. Super annoying, but it is what it is.
I would sell the extra Clasp and the Nato separate. I think these extras are selling fast and for a bit under 4000 your Speedy will find a Seller a lot sooner. In a year or two you can buy a new Speedy, when the times are better. Its just a Speedmaster...
Very well priced . Remember it’s also imminently discontinued as well with the new 3 series movement replacing the 1861 & 1863 movements which add to the value . Such a shame you have to sell and wish you all the best with the sale and more importantly coping through this difficult time. 🤞👍
I am really sorry that you are in this difficult situation. Hope that better times will come quickly for you and your family. Regarding this issue, I think each person has to think if they have all the other needs covered before dropping big money on a watch. With a world more and more unstable, I think it is necessary to save up an emergency fund of at least 6-12 months of living expenses. I see all the time people with very expensive watches on forums, but I cannot afford them at the moment (even if I have the money in the bank). It is a bit frustrating, but I need to have my priorities well established in my budget. Peace of mind ranks much higher than a fancy watch. The only way I could see myself buying an expensive watch would be saving up slowly on a separate bank account dedicated to watch collecting, while saving up much more for the emergency fund + retirement. When reaching the target, reconsider if it is worth it and shop around.
Thanks for the message and the good thoughts. Regarding savings I agree with having 6-12 months worth. I agree, people should have that. And I do. But dipping into it when I have something like a luxury watch doesn’t make sense to me. I’d rather sell the watch and not touch my savings if I don’t have to.
@@JustBlueFish I think you are doing the right thing. And truly wish you all the best. Better times will come :) I don't know what other watches you have, but if you purged some of lower value and that you don't like as much, maybe you could get a nice sum and keep the Speedmaster?
My collection isn’t very large. Only have 6 right now. And the more affordable ones are things like the Skx, SARB and Hamilton Khaki Field. Not a lot of value in those. The Speedmaster is the best option to sell now.
If you have got into financial problems that is your problem. Sell your watch, thats one way out of your problem. Don't want to sell the watch? OK, don't , but cancel your debts and don't sell your watch. It is possible, otherwise you will always regret it, just like I did when I had to sell my Swallow-Dorretti some 50 years ago. I still regret that action and every time I se it on UA-cam I really regret it. If you ask my opinion, hang on to it and sell the wife or the girl friend instead. It will cause you less grief.
I think this is just a bad time to sell anything over 1000 dollars. Almost everyone I know including me and my wife have no job to go to. They are voting now to add even more restrictions on our country where I live as the Covid has increased 20% since October 1st. The highest yet in such a short amount of time. Good luck with the sale.
I would buy it in a second. Seems like a good price. Problem is I am in Canada. By th time I pay the exchange and duties it just doesn’t make sense. If you lived in Canada I would be all over it
Great price considering the condition and extras. I’d like to purchase it from you if I could. A lot of “buyers” trying to get a steal and they may end up reselling for your asking prices. It’s all a part of sell a watch or anything really.
Nice Ω and kit! An advantage to collecting Vostok Amphibias for about $50. My time to sell one is worth more than the watch. I enjoy giving them away. Wasn't giving your Vostok Amphibia away more fun than selling a watch?
Sort of assumes perfect rationality which doesn't apply to watch collectors. If you're liable to sell at a loss and re-buy it might actually make more "sense" to hit savings. $4000 is probably 2-4 months' rent and work could pick up in that time. Edit: also with a moratorium, why would anyone pay rent? Depends on your situation.
I’m thinking further ahead. I don’t think things will be back to normal inside a few months unfortunately. Hope I’m wrong but don’t want to wait until I’m actually in a bad spot and need to sell immediately.
I know your pain as some financial problems caused me to give three Rolex watches in my collection a few years ago. Thanks to a miracle from God in Heaven above, I was able to bounce back and not only get out of debt, but restart my collection, although in a much wiser manner. I gave up my Rolex addition and realized that there are much better watches out there that actually I like better now. One of them being my new Planet Ocean. But the worst part of this hobby is the cost.
Your price is fair considering the conditions and accessories that come with it. Sorry to hear that you need to let it go but wish you luck in getting the dollars you are asking for.
You are free to charge whatever you want and good luck with the sale. There is one significant piece of information you should be including in this video though: you are a private individual selling a used watch and you cannot expect to command the same price as a used dealer. Peer to peer private sales should always be at a discount over retail sales and I don't think your price reflects that. A simple check of WatchPatrol, WatchRecon, reddit's watch exchange, and the forums will tell you this price is about $500 too high. I assume, since you posted this video, you haven't sold the watch yet so the market is speaking to you. Speedy Pros sell every day and if this was priced properly, it would have sold in a day or two.
It's a bummer that you're in this position. Hopefully things will get better for you soon. Thankfully, watches can be replaced. However, I do think the price is a bit steep. I'm not bashing/trolling you here, just trying to be helpful. The clasp and extra NATO are definitely a plus but I just picked up this same watch at an AD this past Saturday for $4,280 with basically zero negotiation. For me, I would happily forgo the clap and NATO and pay $280 premium to have a brand new watch. But that's just me, other may feel differently.
I want the sapphire sandwich Omega Speedmaster. I have been looking for one. I have bought way too many watches for video content, and I am having a hard time parting with those watches.
Good to hear from you again! You have been missed in the watch community-perhaps you could do some live streams from time to time? I’ve considered selling a couple of my Rolex but I don’t want to be cut off from my AD! Best regards 🦈

What’s the name / location of the AD? I’m interested!
I can find a used speedmaster in good condition for $3500. 4k is just too much.
Don’t you want to own the watch of a famous youtuber!? 🤪🤪🤪
Good to have you back on UA-cam Guy !
I agree, being told your price expectations are too high for this very piece in great condition you bought a few thousand dollars more two years before really sucks. Been there.
Thanks Herve appreciate you watching and for the message.
A few thousand dollars more??? He’s asking about $1,000 less than the watch goes for brand new from an AD with no discount
Is it different in America, in the UK a speedmaster Is about £4k new?
Consider turning the watch back to stock and sell the add on bits separately. How much for the watch in stock form?
In stock form without the extra strap, I’d probably take $3600.
@@JustBlueFish Now that sounds a lot more appealing. Most people don't care about add on bit and bobs . The NATO strap will sell on ebay easy as will the strap upgrade. You will get the same price you want just in a different way
That's good advice, worth a try. Some people just want 100% stock.
Stoic Student l
You're right quick-adjust or ratcheting clasps are a must-own upgrade for a bracelet on any watch you plan to daily wear. It makes them so much more comfortable to wear all day. And you can get 3rd party well-made ones for as low as $50 to $60.
A couple of years ago, Omega ADs was offering those discounts, but not anymore, they realise it was having an effect on the brand. Unless you really really have to don't do it
Watch collecter and seller here.... this is a good price. The clasp alone makes the watch on a different level.
I don’t think I’m offering a super deal, but then I’m not in a rush to sell it. But the price is definitely fair.
@@JustBlueFish for someone who wants warranty, ad purchased, and the clasp already installed.... it's definitely fair.
I have watches that I would NEVER sell, and if I have to 'dive' into my savings then so be it.
Good luck plenty going through the same , we’ll get through these tough times .
Thanks!

Good to see you back 👍
Thanks buddy.
This is why I would never spend more than $2k on a single watch.
Wow this sounds like a rant video because someone tried to lowball you. I feel like when you desperately want to sell something, you don't show people that you really really need to sell it. They will always try and get a low price on it. It applies to everything.
Not a rant. Just educating people that still think it’s 2016 and Speedmasters are still getting blown out for 25% off retail.
@@JustBlueFish Personally I think it was a very fair deal
The clasp is an excellent upgrade and adds a lot of value. I did the same on my Speedmaster after struggling to get a decent fit with the stock clasp, and it transformed the wearability of the bracelet.
Good luck with the sale
If you don’t mind me asking- how much was that? I’m really thinking of getting it for mine
@@manuel_winde I bought it in London Omega boutique. I ordered the clasp (code is 117STZ001154) plus 2 end links (118ST1589), quoted cost was £165. They charged me a less when I went to pick them up for some reason, perhaps a mistake!
@@agounaro cool, that’s not as bad as I’d worried it would be. I’m in Islington too so will head down to regent st as it’s quite close and they’ve always been cool with me there, I’ve got the Mitsukoshi dial and hands on mine though and last time she was questioning how I’d got it 😂
@@manuel_winde cool yes that's the shop I got it from, they had to order in the parts when I bought mine as they didn't have them in stock, you could call or email them before you visit the shop. Also they'll tell you that the modification is not supported by them, they'll sell you the parts but you have to fit it yourself at your own risk
Good luck with the sale Guy. I am sure you will find a buyer who is interested in the extra value you have added to this watch 😊👍
Thanks Jeff. Appreciate it.
I know you’re definitely not trying to use your youtube “celebrity” to push this price. But the reality is no one is going to buy a used speed master that has it’s history catalogued on many videos online. It’s a super cheap given the peace of mind buying this watch from you.
One of my grail watches, such a shame you're having to sell up! Genuinely is the worst part of building a collection.
I wouldn’t budge on price. That’s what I paid preowned with no extras
Ya I think it’s a fair price.
People are going to watch this video in 2 years and say wow Speedys use to be that cheap!?
Once Omega updates the Speedy Pro and raises the price $1500. All Speedys will go up, new and old.
That’s the truth.
Good to have you back!
Thanks!
Why do people complain about your price? just go buy it somewhere else if you can find cheaper??!!
True story. I don’t know. People have nothing better to do I guess.
I also did sell some of my beloved watches last 2019 when i needed money. It was a really sad move but i had to.
Hope all goes well with you and your family.
Thanks man!
It's good to have you back, Guy! Hang in there. Difficult times will pass. Stay safe!
Extras never add value. Not in cars. Not in watches. It sucks but it's true.
Welcome back! You were missed.
Thanks man!
Considering the state of your watch... the price is very good. The best price from an AD here in Romania is around 4500-4600 USD, no extras ofc.
Thanks man!
Ya I’m sure I’ll get my price, I’m not in a rush to sell. And thanks for the message!
It’s a fair price with those extras . I think omega have had three price rises in the last 2 years in the uk. And discounts are 10% at most now. They are pricey now
Gotta pay for all the silicon hairspring R&D
My FOIs cost $2500 and $700 for minor repair and fixing. Asking for $4000 for something almost brand new and under warranty is definitely reasonable in my opinion
Great to hear from you, all the best to you and your family. If money wasn’t an option I’d buy your watch.
Thanks Steve.
Wishing you the best and I hope things get back to normal for you brother. As to the watch -- the asking price is fair. For those thinking it isn't... how often does a seller have a high resolution step through video of the condition of the watch? Go through the comps yourself.
Beautiful piece Guy. I am sure you will find a buyer after this video. The watch is in amazing condition. Be well - sending you good thoughts.
Thanks Jeff. I did find a buyer. Everything worked out.
Where have you gone to.
It's a beautiful watch. Drop it to $3975 and it will probably move. There is a psychological hurdle to get over @ $4k.
Sure you may find this model for less than your asking price, but for someone who has already decided they want this model it would be an awesome deal, the clasp is a real selling point as well
I’d never own a speedy without this clasp. I’m not sure why anyone would.
@@JustBlueFish just seeing the watch and all the goodies made me wish I was in the market for a speedmaster, I'm sure it well sell in no time
Good luck with your sale buddy. I have one and hopefully will never part with it. There’s a lot to be said of collecting affordable watches. I sold my steinhart, squale a d 2 seikos all in the same week and I was only around £50 down.
The resale value for Seiko , Citizen , Orient is actually quite good. An SKX was $175 two years ago. Now $250-300.
Happy New Year, did you sell this watch?
Although on a completely different level I’m selling a seiko that someone told they go for 220 on eBay, my answer was the same, why didn’t they buy it on there 🤷♀️
Haha right? If they want it from eBay why didn’t they buy it there.
@@JustBlueFish would you take 3700
If you return the watch to stock, you have a buyer right here for those extras! 😂
Someone bought the watch and clasp but I do still have the extra strap.
@@JustBlueFish That is awesome! I mostly wanted the clasp though.
Where have you been?
This sounds obvious, but if there are a lot of the same model listed for sale at the same price, you’ll need to go below if you want to attract the attention of an interested buyer. Especially if they’re not moving quickly. Looks to be in impeccable condition. Sure the YT exposure will help. All the best, C.
Sold it this afternoon. No worries!
So glad to see you back! Your watch will sell soon. If I had the $ I would definitely buy it. Good luck my man
Thanks man. Sold earlier today.
Today I buy sapphire sandwich new !!! For 4790$ free shipping and no TAX , yours reference offered 3890$ , what you talking about? Best $3600
@@JustBlueFish Yeah... It seems to be the better option.. And honestly, even without the Speedmaster you have a pretty solid collection there :)
You can sell for whatever price you like. If buyers won’t pay it because it’s too expensive that’s up to them. Good luck
Thanks buddy.
I hear you brother glad to see you back sorry you are in the same situation as a lot of us
Thanks Robert!
Thanks Scott.
I would buy it in a second. Seems like a good price. Problem is I am in Canada. By th time I pay the exchange and duties it just doesn’t make sense. If you lived in Canada I would be all over it
Canada shipping and sales is such a pain. Should be simpler.
Great price considering the condition and extras. I’d like to purchase it from you if I could. A lot of “buyers” trying to get a steal and they may end up reselling for your asking prices. It’s all a part of sell a watch or anything really.
It’s people that don’t understand the watch world an assume you will be able to buy as they think it’s like cars. It ain’t $4k is an excellent price
Savings are to be spent: keep the watch.
@@JustBlueFish Yeah, that's fair enough. We do what we have to. Pretty terrible situation in the US from what I've seen.
I think your price is totally fair.
sorry to hear that you have to resort to selling your collection... i would be interested in the clasp and endlinks tho
How much you want for the clasp? I'm interested in the clasp and the other nato strap. Let me know.
If I didn't buy my Speedmaster last Spring, I would have been interested in buying your watch.
This is a very fair price and if I was still in the market I'd consider buying it. This looks like it's in fantastic condition.
$3000??
Sold it this afternoon. Had several inquiries and more interest than I expected after posting the video. All worked out.
I’d like to do some live streams but I don’t like doing them alone and my streaming buddy AB is always busy. I need more friends.
Man please come back! You where my favorite channel.
Your watch pack looks like a VERY GOOD deal to me.
24 hours army a time just did a review of the Moon watches. Great explanation and history.
