- Very warm April day loaded with rail action in this Philadelphia suburb of Bucks County. One of the best counties in the state. I tell it like it is on this action packed day of railroading here. It’s an easy days drive from Long Island to this intriguing destination!!! Had fun doing this. It was a “Silverliner 4 Roasting” like what Dean Martin used to do woth celebrities Wait until I go to Boston. Guess what I will be roasting there????😂😂😂

I'm a 90's kid who grew up riding those Silver Line 4s. I guess I started at the bottom. No wonder I had a headache by the time I got to Doylestown if I sat in the first car. Still enjoyed the video. You do great work.
I really enjoy your knowledgeable commentary! Thanks for the video. I grew up in Lansdale and rode many times to Philadelphia in the Silverliner IV's and a few times in the III's. I feel that the IV's need a little defense. I won't argue about their looks as I don't have strong feelings either way for the IV's, III's, or V's looks. I'm more a freight fan and love IPD boxcars. My defense is for the IV's horn. I agree that the V's horn sounds very sweet, but I now live 3 miles as the crow flies from the nearest SEPTA grade crossing. I have never heard a Silverliner IV horn, but often hear the horn from the V. Yes, the V's horn sounds really nice, but holy moly does it carry far. As a railfan, I really don't mind, but I can see where the IV's horn has some advantages for urban/suburban residents.
I ❤ the raw honest heartfelt comedic commentaries alongside the passion for passenger trains!!!!
I love that you give the engineers nicknames. Trains are great and people are great too!
I don’t like to use their names and I’m sure some wouldn’t like it either
Tim, your animosity for the Silverliner IVs is absolutely hilarious and makes your already awesome videos even better
RRHG Final Boss Battle: Silverliner 4 vs. The HSP46. Winner gets banished into the Delaware.
@@MasterOfNoise Tough choice. It’s like comparing ammonia with sulfuric acid.
@@3985uprr God forbid SEPTA ever own HSP's and Silverliner 4's, the results would be devastating!
The Meteor was my favorite. Especially the Viewliner IIs.
To think that very same Silverliner IV order was PAUSED in order for NJDOT to get their 50 car center door Arrow II order built at that same time period, only to meet the scrap heap 22 or so years later.
Still amazes me those SL IVs are 85% original and still running to this day....
They don’t do well these days.
Your contempt for the Silverliner IV’s is beyond comical… lol
Wait till I post my most recent video. 😂😂😂. Ultimate satire. I have to pick on something. I don’t always like to be serious. Humor is needed in this crazy world.
@@3985uprr I could not agree with you more, sir. Keep ‘em coming. I’m loving it!
I learned to railroad on those junk things when I was in high school in the late 70s and early 80s with my brother when he was in commuter service during his PC/CR days on the Media/West Chester and Paoli lines. They were a lot of fun to operate for that teenager.
In my next Septa video, I promise not to say a bad word about those cars. I realize I was marginally critical of those things on my last video, but I will show some honor and integrity next time. 😀😀
Croydon, Station, my old stomping grounds. Commuted to Temple for 4 years from 1965 to 1969. Back when men were men and trains were trains.
You were up Street Rd (yes it's the actual street name) from my work at Neshaminy State Park! Lots of folks work the industry along State Rd where one of the factories has a static display of a P-51.
That P-51 is a wind vane, as well!
I’m mentally keeping track of how many different ways he can ‘dis the Silverliner IV. 😂😂 I love it. I’ve always wanted to take the Adarondacker- glad I may have the opportunity.
I’m sure I will invent more ways to dis them. The Adirondack is a beautiful ride and I’m glad it’s back.
Love your vids.
I grew up in Bucks County near Newtown. Beautiful area with good people, but I was a bit of a troublemaker in high school, which led me to move away. I live out west now, but Bucks is a beautiful place to live and railfan, no doubt!
Interesting railfanning!! I've ridden the Northeast Corridor many times on SEPTA and AMTRAK. Never been to West Trenton. Thanks Tim 😀💚
Directly across PA 413, and less than a 100-yard walk from the Langhorne station is Zeeno's Pizza, which is very good.
Derek is the Most beautiful man I have 😢been in your area with for a long while and flight back to the people who have
I'd love to score a Silverliner V ride one day. i still feel weird for not having fanned SEPTA.
Big fan of yours Tim my name is Jimme
Great video. Love the Sprinters.
You have a great voice. Ever consider voiceover work?
Thanks. I’ve been told that, but I could never find the open door to put my foot in
I worked out of Woodbourne for CSX as a conductor. Started out with B&O in 1978. All the Reading guys would pronounce the yard as Wood-burn. All the local customers are gone. Nabisco gone. The Steel gone. International Paper gone. Origilios gone. Yogurt gone. Willy’s gone. Not sure about Silgon Plastic. I think the interchange between Morrisville is being handled by Shared. Maybe 1 job left to Lansdale for interchange with short line. All the CSX locals at Lansdale are gone. Thanks for coming down this way and sharing this film.
I can see the freight spur by Eddington station is jointed rail.
Hope you enjoyed your visit here to Langhorne. I live two blocks from the station. Sorry I missed a chance to say hi!!
34:43 DPU, I see You!
Awesome video I enjoyed seeing all the high speed action on the northeast corridor
Glad you enjoyed
One would have thought The Silverliner IV Sets given that they're 50 years old as you said Tim that SEPTA hasn't thought of replacing them with newer trains yet. Though i shouldn't talk in New South Wales there was one type of electric train that was in service for 66 years. Dubbed Red Rattlers these single deck trains plied The Sydney Surburban network from March 1926 until 10th of January 1992 when the vast majority were withdrawn although the remaining sets were not withdrawn until November 1993.
Acela is a rebadged TGV from France.
Nice station you're in.
Woodbourne used to be my local station. It's always been a great railfanning spot. You often see people set up shop with camera tripods on the old eastern platform.
Septic Silverliners 😂
😂😂😂😂
At 20:30, you show the sign for Croydon. Right behind that is a sign for Harry Fawkes Way. He led the GOP in Bucks County for 40 years (1972-2012). He was the last of the big party bosses.
That bar has a car show coming up in june
The Silverliner IV’s were brand new in the early 1970’s. Today those horns sound very sick.
They took the aa2 horns out because septa is a bus company
Cool catches, i love those SEPTA Silverliner Vs. They seem smooth.
Not when most cars have flat spots on at least one wheel!
The Silverliner IVs always remind me of the robot from Short Circuit
Haha. It’s hideous.
Nice video
Hello from Norfolk
Here's a more positive tribute to the...Yes, g o r g e o u s SEPTA Silverliner V sets @ 9:47 | 12:46 | 14:18 | 17:56 | 33:57 | 35:17 | 37:46
I'm not from PA, but jeez, you rag on those trains enough already.
😂😂😂😂. Hard to please everyone but most of my viewers find it humorous. In addition to knowledge and history, I like candor and humor
So the breaks on that train at 15:19 are on the outside!
Partially compressed now..
Nice train watching locations.
Those sorts cars are just subway consists to me, unless it has engine attached z
The Waterbury branch stations look better than Eddington 🙃🤦🏽♂️
Quite a bit.
I always find your hatred of Silverliner 4s to be funny
They're not thaaaat bad
Maybe they are
They're starting to hit 50 years old. Knowing SEPTA, they'll outlast the Silverliner V cars, which have been troublesome since Day 1.
@@OldsVistaCruiser As much as it pains me excruciatingly, you are probably right!!😀😀. Crews are starting to say they like V’s better. They have faster pickup when time needs to be made up
@@3985uprr - Tim, our friend MCMM Photography (Marckwel) told me that you would be at Eddington yesterday. I was hoping to meet you!
Sl ivs are crap can't wait for the silver sixes
@@OldsVistaCruiser I was moving about a lot that day, and I was only in Eddington for less than an hour
Hey stop making fun of the cars that made my dad seasick when they first came out 😂
Another great train video and don't forget that the media elwyn line has been extended to serve wawa but still serves elwyn in both directions
But the route been changed to the media wawa line
You should never waste a good New Jersey tomato on a Silverliner 4!
Unless it’s rotten.
OK, I’ll agree to that! That puts it to good use.
There is an 80 mph restriction at Grundy thats why trains are slowing down approaching Grundy
It’s very rough. I’m waiting for it to be fixed. May die of old age first.
Not on every track…
@@Railoffroader2 I'm sure they'll slap the speed restriction back on 3 track again in no time.
I agree, the septa 4s are ugly and most seem to have flat tyres
At 29:00, Tim, that is exactly why I want to be back home in NY/NJ. People are much better able to tell you what they really think and also accept the same.
Where are you now
@@3985uprr South Carolina, until I retire, then in NYC or Jersey City.
I made the mistake of taking Septa from Trenton to Philadelphia. Never again.
It’s cheaper
why don’t they stop at eddington
Industrial area. Not a town
@@3985uprr what i also wanna know is how to train drivers know how far the next train stop is do they have like a GPS?😂
SL4s can’t be as bad as NJT’s A3s. 🤷🏻♂️
I like the Arrows more
@@3985uprr really?
@@MidnightAspec They look better and I like the Westinghouse AA2 horns
@@3985uprr yes, very distinct horns. I’ve been riding A3s since 1980, really miss when they were able to exceed 100 mph..not to mention the old orange/brown and green/blue seats.
I don't like those ge cars I love the SEPTA 5 cars and NJ transit arrows
Glad to hear it.
What is so bad about them silver liner 4s i dont git it
Ugly looking and weak horns. Now they are breaking down and not getting to track speed says Septa employee
The Silverliner 5s aren't that great to look at..
These cars are just as bad as the Gladstone line. Maybe they’ll get some new used cars of a different brand,……
At least they have those Interurbanish sounding Wabco AA2 horns. They sound cool
I certainly remember and enjoy the hints towards our gang and various cartoons. I remember these cartoons from the 60s and early 70s after 63 or 64 BUSY being interested in skirts. My days of our gang went out the window but I remember it so vividly I remember one episode and perhaps since you’re mentioning it, perhaps you can help me, but I remember something happening and adjusted something which caused him to blow bubbles as he was attempting to sing a song I can’t recall if it was this episode or not, but there was one episode I saw it once and never saw it again, but there was a quote from alfalfa, which sounded like well keep me colder all the time or something along these lines, but he said it’s so fast, and it was so comicalthat it still in my head today but unfortunately I don’t remember the particular episode. Hopefully someone will remember.
Alfalfa said about “colder” when he ate some poisoned food that was meant for the adults. They wanted people to think the teacher was a lousy cook so she wouldn’t get married
How’s it going from TORONTO here again?
My last comment was almond Joy’s got nuts and mounds. Don’t headache been more patient and kept my mouth shut I would’ve realized yeah they are the colours or something of almond juice up here in Canada. We didn’t have candy bars we had chocolate bars we didn’t have sodas we had pop and have chocolate bars and various flavours of pop…… I’ve never understood how someone can suggest rear and a soda…. I would just completely love sideways looking for an interpreter, but I’m just joking and attempting to engage the comments as I truly enjoy the channel……
Thanks and watch the gap, I mean mind the gap.
At roughly 17 seconds of this video, has anyone seen my bucket of creosote…..
