I will probably go for Microsoft because the desktop apps are a bonus. To be honest, I just need the business email, and for the price, I prefer what Microsoft offers. However I have to say that when Im on the road or not home and I need to use my phone to start a document, I 100% use google Docs because it is incredibly seamless from phone to computer, its as simple as turn PC on, open chrome and continue working.
Not only the desktop apps, most of the business producitvity of 365 is much better. Does google have any product management as sprint planning ? No they don't. You know what they use issue tracker to collaborate multiple people but the hotlist is a very outdated idea and inefficient, but Teams have planner which is similar to jira . Also google chat only keeps 7 days of history of chat. When I want to pull out the old messages that some coworkers make the wrong claim about my team, I could not do that with google chat. That's horrible and outdated.
When I’m away from home, I use Microsoft 365 on my phone for tasks like using Excel, Docs, and more.
Google is best one

@@kawaiihikari0 microsoft desktop "apps" sync to cloud too. There are also web based Office apps. So it works just like google docs
Google workspace has the Gmail application on the desktop too but on Chromebook laptops.
As long as the online application has the features you need, having a desktop application is not necessary in my opinion. You can make any online site/application look like a desktop application if desired. I do this for Quickbooks Online. I think online applications are the way to go.
For my use case they are both the same price and google offers 30gb of storage and support not 24/7. Microsoft offers 1TB of storage and 24/7 support. For me MS is better for the support and the storage the other features I dont even care, I only care about the custom email and storage for my small business.
