Zoe Hong Thats the best way to learn! gotta focus on whats being said to get through the rough patches! I didnt know you were married! Super cool hearing about him and his struggles. Omg that was so bad sad to hear about those software scammers!! There is an industry of those greeseballs buyer beware!!
Zoe Hong hi there! Thanks for this interview and introducing her to us! Kathleen is such an intelligent and brilliant entrepreneur/designer/pattern maker etc. I will definitely visit her factory in Albuquerque one day! How I wish I live in the US.
Hello sir I am master in garments and hosiries in stitching I request please gave me a one chance my contact number 0092 0306400217 now I am still workings combined fabric limited lahore pakistan I am production superviser I have a expiriance latters
Zoe, Kathleen's Video Series is soo awesome!!! Thank you. I especially love how she touched on 75% of designers she knows didn't go to school and are successful. I've been learning how to do this on my own forever now and only started to produce work in the last 2ish years.
The perfect V thing is so true, I bought a vest today and when I buttoned it up it didn't match up. I love the way Kathleen talks, straight to the point, no bs and very informative. I'm loving this series of interviews. Keep the videos coming
Zoe Hong Pattern making is my favorite part of designing. Even though I'm not taking pattern classes until next semester, I started snooping other students' pattern making porfolio. I already made my first pair of pants, which turned out pretty great. I want to keep making more challenging patterns to practice.
Bless this lady , she's wonderful. So glad I listen to your videos while I do my own thing . My volunteer work is teaching sewing classes so having heard what this lady's factory does feeds my heart. Loving your videos
She is such a fascinating person, I could listen to her on repeat because she holds so much valuable information and explains everything right to the point. I wish I could find such a mentor here in Canada:) Since I started watching your channel,I realized that I definitely don't have what it takes to be a great fashion designer but in the meantime I got really passionate about the business side of the fashion and issues present in the apparel industry. I'm so grateful for your interviews that made me realize this. You are the best!😊🐘
>>I realized that I definitely don't have what it takes to be a great fashion designer but in the meantime I got really passionate about the business side of the fashion I'm so impressed by you. This kind of transition takes so much wisdom and self-awareness. Good luck!

Kathleen, you are so real! The stuff about moving to Albuquerque and holding down the fort etc. Love it! You’ve led an interesting life so far and accomplished so much. 💕
Totally relate to Kathleen's love of getting lost in a pattern. It's a great feeling to see the puzzle you've been working on come to life exactly as imagined.Terrible for the back though once you realize you haven't moved in a long time because you've been staring at a computer screen for so long! Hahaha There are alot of people who come into the industry not willing to put in the time or work. I have had so many people saying that they want to learn a certain technique from me, but when I tell them exactly how to find the information to learn they never do. Of course, they always come back asking the same question without having done their homework and just want a free tutor who is going to hold their hand through the whole process. Um no thankssssss
Omg Kathleen is so honest. Listening to her speak about moving to with her son was almost like a movie. I love her personality. She’s come a longggg way. Love your vlogs Zoe.💗💐
I cannot get over this interview series. I have learned so much, and it was a pleasure to listen to Kathleen’s story. Badass, matter of fact energy that is easily digestible. I’d love to learn from her at her boot camp!
I really learned a lot about what things to consider in apparel manufacturing. It is very sad that we do not have enough people to do factory jobs anymore. I suppose we will need to import people who can operate a sewing machine and manage production. Would love to go to apparel boot camp at some point. Thanks for sharing and teaching.
Yet again, thank you Zoe for an amazing inteview! Kathleen is awesome, I really appreciate that she spent her time for the interview and even a tutorial that's coming up! I have learnt a lot from this interview. Also, this encouraged me to study patternmaking after I'm done with my fashion studies. I loooove patternmaking and this part was always one of my most favorite parts in design schools that I went to. For a few years now I found this part more interesting to me than designing (but I love that as well) and for a while I was thinking I should study patternmaking for MA. This really helped me to decide I really want to do this!
This was fabulous! I hope Kathleen knows she has a whole new horde of fans. I cannot wait to see all of the new treats with/from her later this year on your channel. Make sure to send our thanks!
27:40..... YES! I graduated from Fashion Design School in 2007. And halfway through.... I knew I didn't want to be a "Fashion Designer". And I came out and went back into retail. I felt defeated.... But I wasn't ready. I needed to grow up, Network, and develop clarity on who I AM. After battling Drug addiction and Depression, I am re-entering this world. Knowing my limits is KEY! Thank you so much for making your knowledge accessable ❣️ It is TRULY a gift❣️
zoe hang and kathleen fasanella you guys are most real people i ve seen in this industry. girl power wins. love your content its pure gold. every minute is worth watching. :) hats off
Omg Zoe, hearing Kathleen say that her favorite designers are accountants is exciting!! I’m an accountant that’s just starting to dive into fashion. I just want to say that you and Kathleen are giving me hope haha
Listening to this session, brings to mind the biblical wisdom of sowing and reaping or how focused are you. How much are you dedicated to your own life and what you want, are you?
Is the Manufacturing Bootcamp happening this year? I'm in the ethically made and sustainable product industry and own a blog and I think this would be a really great opportunity for me!
watching this 6 years in the future lol, is this still a thing? The bootcamp? Also kathleen story is absolutley insaneeeee something really out of a movie.
I am so loving this series!!!!! Hi five! Kathleen is a boss! Love her attitude and when she showed her leather vest and jackets and basically talked leather it brought back old memories and I remembered a lot of things I thought I had lost when I had kids that sucked the smart out of me for the last 5 years but low and behold I've retained more than I thought. Lol
We all need refreshers every once in a while, even if it's just to remind us of what we forgot we knew. I really wish my eye wasn't bugging me that day, I feel like we could have gotten even geekier. I love talking shop with people like Kathleen.
What part of Mathematics is important to learn for the fashion industry? Some obvious subjects are arithmetic, percentages, ratios, measurements, fractions, geometry, , calculus, trigonometry, temperature, heating & cooling, did I miss something ? Also, what software is used for design ? StyleCad ?
Heck, I don't want to be an artist maybe I should be designer (just kidding) - but I always wonder how clothes can be designed - I like basic shapes - an A-line skirt is an A-line skirt and aside from colors and fabric and length and whether or not they have pockets or whether it zips up the front, the side or the back or has buttons..... - it seems to me the actual pattern is the same. Or given the structural elements as far as pockets and seams the pattern might vary - but by now hasn't the A-line skirt been done every way imaginable to the point an brand new original pattern for an A-line skirt isn't something any designer can "copyright" for lack of a better word. Needless to say, my experience with patterns and sewing is just enough to barely follow the conversation here! But the nuts and bolts of the unlovely process are interesting. Great video - thanks!

Yes, but remember she discussed that many come from other careers and bring their work ethic, organizational and other skills with them.
Kathleen is a GREAT WOMAN, THANKS SO MUCH Kathleen for sharing your experience 🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈Bless your heart 🥇😍😍😍😍

She was all wrapped up in her spring boot camp lately, but I'm going to bug her in a little while.
Love her hair pen. ;) I bought her bomber jacket pattern a couple of years ago and it was a joy to sew up. She is a real treasure.

I need more info on that mock fabric jacket "side-seam, no-seam" situation. Could someone explain it to me?

Bring it it’s interesting
What is the cost of attending the bootcamp?
I'm confused. Are you saying sleeve cap ease is sloppy pattern making? That it's BS?
did you get to the boot camp??
No, I had to handle a family emergency.
Are you still in business?
Can she elaborate why optitex is bad?
HARD PATTERNS!!!
