First heard this song on my cousin's 8-track system in the late 60's and at the time I thought it was the best sound ever!! Saw them live in the 2002 LWTTT concerts 3 times and they were still fantastic! Drummer was Peter Hood, he passed away a couple of years ago. 🥀🥀
@@garymarquett7989 Bugger. I've been listening to this song since I "discovered" it in the early '80s...never realised they were Aussies. 🙄 Just listened because the music was so good. 👍
I remember my high school days bombora was the most popular music during that time I like it very much now I'm very much happy when I heard it now thank you
Listen to an unedited version or go actually watch the gig live You will see the drummer is out of whack n all over the shop. The drummers name is Peter Hood and he’s Jewish
Fantastic brings back lots of great memories from my early youth over 1/2 a century ago. It was just a touch to fast in parts and i miss the echo of the red guitar otherwise will live on to immortality. Thank you .👍
The lead guitarist and drummer are original members. The other two joined after 2000 and still very good though. After The Shadows from England to me the best band! I saw Them live many times at Surf City in Kings Cross, Sydney along with three very young boys then named The BG's. Also Ray Brown, Billy Thorpe and many others.
Bombora - Australian Aboriginal word - not sure from which country, possibly Eora/Cadigal (Sydney Coastal Traditional owners). Means surf crashing on a reef.
Almost original, martin Cilia is the newbie, Theo Penglis was in the original lineup with Bosco, Jim & Peter. Still a totally credible band 47 years on.
I just wish it wouldn't stop and start all the time I would like to buy this song but wouldn't like it if it stopped and started all the time. Not sure what is going on it was playing alright for me this morning.

That drummer is all business! He's killing it!
Unfortunate phrasing. He just died 2021

You must be in your 70s too or close to it :)
I cannot comprehend how the drummer keeps up this incredibly fast beat. He is phenomenal. 😲
Best instrumental, surf or otherwise, ever
I love this song 40 years ago i would play it on the way to the coast to go surfing
Best time. We lived across the road from Surf city where the Atlantics played! 1963
Surf City, what a great place back when, hung out there many, many times, just sayin'

Old Rockers never die ...... just like a good red wine, they improve with age.

Absolutely correct !!!

Dick Dale's "Misirlou" is another good one.
I think that fans of The Shadows and The Ventures would respectfully disagree with that.
@@tonicjack9823 i do like the ventures and the shadows too,
Love the drumming!
This is just bullshit, I can't believe how good these guys sound!! Exactly the same as the record in the 60's!!
Tis them! And excellent musicians, real musicians, and there is nothing like it live!
To hell with cymbals!
And with the scratches at exactly the same place.

True talent never dies

great stuff again, is this the original Atlantics Line up, love many of their tunes, top notch instrumental group.
To the best of my knowledge I know The lead guitarist and drummer are original.
@@happyolddude Wrong. See above.
🎃😎
Given that Australia is in the Indian Ocean the Atlantics' choice of name is curious...great music whatever they choose to call themselves...
I am convinced that Peter Hood’s father was an octopus
supreme
Drums in this song inspired a very young Rob Hirst of Midnight Oil and more fame
@KayPeaaePyaK The stopping and starting might be your internet streaming speed, it all works fine for me.
Love the drums on this one.
Watch out for those Bomboras, especially when girted by sea.
