I just got one of these off ShopGoodwill, the 2971 model, and it works well but the LCD display for the clock is melted and dead and it has a nasty ground loop hum. Otherwise works well. Was picking up foreign religious broadcasting.
Yes and no. This radio is over 40 years old! It is still repairable in most cases! How many phones have you owned in 40 years? Why aren't those phones repaired? This radio price was $150 that time.Multi band stereo , shortwave band, and a lot morefeatures!
Do have some questions about the radio as I happened to own one that was in the garage Mainly what’s the best battery clock to work and the best way to clean rust off the battery terminals
The best battery for the clock any battery what fits into the slot and is a 1.5-volt battery. No special requirement. To clean the battery terminals, I always use contact cleaner spray recommended for electronic cleaning, and/or brushes or metal (bronze) brushes for mechanical cleaning.
That is just an external antenna connector. CB band has a pre-amplifier and connected to second pull up antenna only. The external antenna jack has no connection to the CB band, according to the schematic diagram.
The liquid crystal display (LCD) technology was created in the year 1968. It was developed at the David Sarnoff Research Center in Princeton, New Jersey, by a team led by George Heilmeier. The technology revolutionized the display industry and has since become widely used in various electronic devices such as televisions, computer monitors, smartphones, and many other applications. I have a wrist watch from 1978 year what had LCD . The engine has been replaced several times, but the metal case is original. I still like it and continue to use it.
There is AIR band. At 1:53 I show the ORD weather station on AIR band.It is easier to find and show because it is always on 24/7.Chack it at 1:53 Thanks.

External antenna connector. I have never tested it,
That must be a very early LCD display if that is from 1971
I am sorry, I made a correction according to radiomuseum.org data: Year 1980?
