Dude, this is huge! I love how you won’t settle for something simple and easy; your goals have to scare you. After the let downs from lottery day, to see you put together something this epic is super inspiring. You could have taken an easy path this race season and done something comfortable, but instead you’re going big. Can’t wait to follow along!
Good luck Ryan! You’re an inspiration for setting big goals and getting after it. You’ll nail it and I’m looking forward to seeing your progress. Kudos!!
"Tell me I'm crazy" You are! But you're inspiring as well! And everyone watching this is rooting for you! Also for us it's great, it means more epic videos to come! Good luck!!
You're crazy but I love your passion, your drive and you're so inspiring. Best wishes and I know you'll do great., I look forward to the recaps, take care.
Wam Bam Epic Slam...........you got this Ryan........i'm super stoked for you and selfishly can't wait to see the documentary!!!!......tellin' all my Muddy Shoes trail buddies in MD to follow you..........
Sounds awesome, Ryan! If I'm still in Wisconsin in early June I'll come visit and cheer you on at the Kettle Moraine 100! Good luck man, awesome goal for the year! Maybe we can do that podcast too before that 100 miler.
Good Luck Ryan! hope to see you out there and can shake your hand I will be running MO and BR FYI if you have never run in Mohican sate park it's sneaky tough and the heat and humidity hangs in the woods and is a challenge of it's own. can't wait for the recap video next fall/ winter
Thanks!! Hope we can run into each other! Also thanks for the info on MO, I've heard that it is so tough because of the heat and humidity. Thanks for the insight!
Hell Yes, I have been waiting for this one. You're Crazy! I am sorry. You got this. Awesome, man and to top it off, you throw out the 5 sub 24s, love it! I like the way you think.
@@RyanClaytonFilms Nope it's in there. I know your a stats guy, I am also. No one has ever ran 5 sub 24s, 3 of 5 is the best. If all 5 were run under sub 24, you would have the record for the slam.give or take a few minutes. Love it, get it! Jump up on that full force!
sounds like a crazy year...BUT...careful you dont get that dreaded runners disease....BURNOUT !!! Myself and a friend of mine years ago decided to do a race every weekend for a year....all distances....we did it but Ive never been the same since. Now that Im an old fart and trying to get back into running...Im finding it very hard mentally to get into it. Make sure you finish your upcoming year still WANTING...and not feeling like you are done. Good luck, stay focused, stay safe and stay injury free.
Thanks, that’s good to keep in mind. Definitely watching out for that. A few years ago I did a something a lot like what you did and felt it. Not going there again 👍
Get the 100s! See you at KM100 for sure. Just a suggestion, I would not recommend driving any long distance right after you finish a race...best to stay safe and just sleep it off unless you will have a driver. It's way to easy to doze off while driving after a big finish.
@@johntruelove7003 Long set of stairs coming down into Boston Mills before you get to the 50 mile spot. A little bit of a pain there as other that weren't part of the race were also out there on them enjoying the day (rightfully so). Then again towards the end once you get closer to the finish, can't remember the name of that park after you get off the tow path and city street. Granted it wasn't a great race for me, more of a vomit fest (heat and maybe something I ate) so maybe the stairs seemed worse to me but I went in there not knowing about them. In hindsight, I would have trained a little differently. In fact my buddy pacing me even joked at the end that I was going to have to climb a small step ladder to get over the finish line because he was getting tired of the stairs too :)
@@pamwalker6306 Thanks for replying. I guess I don't remember those stairs. I remember lots of things about BR, fast start, a lot of road, 35-45 being a lot of vert., water fall, and that damn open area with the big hill that you had to do twice or was it 3 times, lots of bike paths and roads, got railroaded, pacer puked which was not cool, but to be fair, if they were downstairs, I wouldn't remember. Down never bothers me it's also up that does. Nice job completing it!
Epic goals. In Belgium there is also a amazing slam, the Legends Slam. 3 100 mile and one 250k race. Check about the movie about it: When Heroes Become Legends.
I’m hoping to get my first 50k this year. Wanted to get my local Quivering Quads 50k since it’s in my back yard and my home trail but I won’t be ready for that in March. Once again good luck and no problem roughing it for the races.
Hey Ive just started watching your stuff but its been super motivating! Ill be in Indiana during the indiana trail 100, could potentially help pace/crew. Would be really cool to be part of that!
@@RyanClaytonFilms I wasnt already planning on being there. Im hoping to run the Tecumseh trail marathon in bloomington a couple weeks after. Havent done any ultras but thats the goal! Not sure what pacing/crew would entail for that race but would be amazing to just get a taste of what an ultra is like!
The 3 big one's are Blue Ridge Double marathon in Roanoke, UROC 100K and Uwharrie 100 Miler. Several other shorter ones for training purposes in between.
You mentioned in the video that you are going to change the way of training in the gym. Why ? Yesterday i did my first 50k with 1000 elevation. The next one wil be in August 50k with 2030 elevation in the belgium Ardennen. So i have to train my legs a bit better than i did right now. Thats why i asked you why the change of training. Greetings from The Netherlands ( George)
That's great. Definitely need to train for the race specifics. In my case, over the last few years I've been training for mountain races. These that I'm doing this year don't have nearly as much vertical gain, so it would benefit me more to train specifically for the terrain I'll be seeing, which is more flat with rolling hills. Congrats on finishing your first 50k and good luck on the next one!!!
