I never used to listen to the radio. Always had it off and listened to my own collection of music because everything on air was always so repetitive.
Once I got introduced to your show I was hooked. Listen you guys every morning. Such a nice change and really sets you apart from every other station.

I listened to this station every morning driving to high school. I used to just scan for whatever was playing songs but it turned into me crying laughing at 7:30 in the morning consistently to this show. I'm in college now and listen to the podcasts religiously and still find myself laughing my ass of while walking to class
The only good music day is Throwback Thursday, and even then some of the same songs are played. It’s not the shows fault though, and I’m sure if Woody had total control over the music it would be more variation. Mike, playing Imagine Dragons another time per hour during the Woody Show hours is going to do nothing other than make people tune out while the songs are playing, thus having the opposite effect.
If you guys do play more music, play everything you guys said at the end. Hard rock/metal. 🤘🏼

I'm with Woody on this one, I usually mute the station during songs and commercials. Alt 98.7 plays the same songs from the 90's all day, if I wanted to listen to music I'd use spotify. I tune in for the personalities and program, you know, the actual CONTENT.

I get such bad reception down here in San Diego, please get a station down here so i can hear the WOODY SHOW MORE (I need my phone for work so i can't iHeart radio app.) I listen to the show for the show not the music. It's a talk show not a music show, anyone can get music anywhere. A great music show is Resurrection Sunday on 91x down here, hours with themes and a great host. This show is about bits and games like DUIQ, Menace WOTD, Craigslist FOTW and many more. If you want to play more music play stuff we haven't heard, you are an ALT station, so stop playing top 40 alt tracks. FIND LOCAL BANDS IN YOUR BROADCAST AREAS!

Been listening to the show for over a year. Love everything about it. The amount of music is great, because I just love listening to you guys. With that being said, is Mike the show killer still with the station?
He went to program alt 92.3 in NYC but now he is in charge at there competitor 106.7 KROQ
I work with a media representative (meaning we sell ads for TV networks) and Nielsen data tends to fluctuate A LOT, sometimes at the lower end it is more like a binary metric since it derives from small sample size. It's still the gold standard though. TV has an alternative rating called ComScore (aka Rentrak) which seems to be more consistent but it as its own problems, don't know if ComScore does radio. Woody is right on summer: the least important "sweeps" in TV is July. Quick tip: at the standard variances between weeks in past months' ratings (meaning the largest amount in either direction weeks go up and down) and compare that level of variation to the current data. Also look at past years. And on research, depends on sample size and how the sample is recruited. Woody seems to imply problems with inclusion criteria. All-day 98.7 listeners may be different than Woody Show-only listeners. As for myself, I do actually like a good amount of music with the show, but I am probably an anomaly.
Mike, buddy, for the love of god listen to the fans of the show as well as woody and the cast. We don't want more music we want more topics and more conversations that we love or hardly hear. We don't want the same songs we hear every single day, played every hour with the same song being played more than 5 times a day. Just believe in the show and the loyal fans that back it up all the way.

I switched over from Kevin&Bean because their show is mostly music and commercials. More show less music, awesome job you guys!
The reason the station ratings are low is they play the same shit all day.
Leave it as is. I'm a new listener of the show and the only reason I ever began to listen to it, is because of all of them, NOT the music. They are funny and they keep me entertained while I'm at work at 5 a.m.

I understand where Mike is coming from. He's worried that a week or two of slightly lower ratings will translate into months and he wants to nip it in the bud.
What he doesn't understand, or is ignoring, is that fluctuations are normal. You are going to get a dip occasionally in the ratings. These things average out. If the show gets bumped to #2, then they can look into adjusting things. Unless that happens, just let Woody keep doing his thing.
Personally, I don't live in L.A. but I prefer to listen to the song podcast over the iheart app because I want to avoid the songs and commercials.
If i wanted more music i would listen to spotify on my drive to work
I listen every morning on my hour and a half drive to work from 4a to about 530a and i listen mainly for the show not the music , and thats not to say the music isnt good because i love that too. But i think its very well balanced . Dont play more music, keep up the good work guys ... BYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEE !!!

Mike the Showkiller needs to shut it. I used to be a diehard listener of Valentine in the Morning, namely because I loved their interaction with each other. I wanted more of them and less of the same 10 songs they'd play. I went looking for something else and found The Woody Show.
You guys crack me up, you make me think and you're just awesomely entertaining. I can handle a few songs here and there, but the music is the last thing I'm tuning in for.
And also, Mike, I've never heard of a Program Director doing ads. No one wants to hear you. Specifically when you're peddling Chevy when Toyota is a founding partner of The Woody Show. Get a clue, dude
I remember one time Woody was about to play some burned out Killers song but then he played Jenny Was a Friend of Mine because he liked that song more and it was FUCKING AWESOME

i listen to the woody show podcast so i DONT have to listen to music. i can go to apple music or spotify if i want to listen to music. i’m sure most people feel that way. the people that complain about not enough music are probably older in age that don’t use music streaming platforms

F the damn songs, only reason I listen is for the content. If i want to listen to music I'll open my music and listen to what I know i like instead of tuning into the show. I get it that the music breaks up the segments but I even get upset when the do 2 songs instead of 1.

No, you should not play more songs. I, and probably most of your faithful listeners, tune in for the show; not the music. I only listen to Alt 98.7 because of the show. I stopped listening to Alt 98.7 in the afternoon because of the stupid political comments. Mike was probably running the station into the ground by misreading the listening public. I'm so glad Woody sticks to his principles. You guys are awesome!
