When my mom died,I was doing my third year at university... I knew that I had to keep it together so I'd pass and get my degree. So I pushed my grief down and it literally almost killed me. The only thing I remember from that time was going out constantly, just trying to keep myself busy in every possible way. I graduated top of my class, that December I was admitted after having a major depressive episode. I finally had to deal with my grief. Now I'm working and I can't tell you were all of that money that I got from moms policy went. But I don't regret it, it helped me to cope. I'm working now, and after going through that I don't judge people who spend insurance money like that. In a way it's never really going to be enjoyable having that type of money because it's a constant reminder of the worst loss you will ever suffer. So I appreciate mama for thinking of our well-being even in death, but in the end the living will always need to make their own way. I'd advise parents to leave their children assests though like property... Money is like air, it's gone before you know it.

Not entirely true, If you have never been trained how to use it, you will blow it... many have worked for money but when their inheritance came they left their small jobs and became worse afterwards.... some have never worked hard for a day in their lives but became richer, all because their parents took more time, disciplining and teaching them how to handle money from a young age so money remains a servant to them even after parents are gone... parents have opened trusts and set rules on certain family assets never to be sold but to stay in the family for generations to come...

The rest of the money shud go to different charities. No wonder they opt for this option, I really don't blame them
