That’s the program I’m planning to go with in about 2 years! I’m a sophomore in high school rn and I’m planning to go during the summer of my Junior year into Senior year. Did you go to a high school while you were there? Since it seems like that is a big part of the 6 week program they offer.
i want to do an exchange so badly! i’ve been planning one for about four months now, and recently emailed one of the programs i’m interested and now i’m just binge watching this videos until i get a response 😂 i’ve been studying japanese for a few months now, and it’s been so fun! thank you so much for sharing your experience
I’m glad that liked my video 😭🥺 and good luck getting into an exchange program during a pandemic :0 I want to study abroad or just move away from the us in college too
Hi! I don't know if you remember me but we were in the yellow group together at the local orientation. If you don't that's okay haha. Looks like you had fun on your trip! I love the editing style of your video too :)
No problem. Just enjoying life with my friend group, drinking boba and watching the summer festival, or singing karaoke for hours is just how I want to live. Japan is one of those places where it feels unreal being there, like you’ve entered another world. It’s a place where everything feels so simple, although it isn’t really. I envy those children at the aquarium or the ones near the Koi because they’re so free and their lives literally haven’t began, and Japan is their homeeee. Sorry this video is just everything I want in life and it really moved me ;_;
omg this was such a cute video 🥺🥺🥺 ugh i miss japan i want to go back so bad now i missed out on so much stuff there like THE SLIDES WHAT I NEVER SAW THOSE SLIDES WHY ARE THEY SO MUCH COOLER THAN AMERICAN SLIDES WHAT.?!?????
Bro the slides are soOooOooo fun these are just the ones I got footage of :) every time we’d be in a park I’d walk towards the slides and whoever I’d be with they’d be like “no Nina それはだめだ🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️” But then I would go “🥺🥺💗 please” Lmaooooo
Thank you 🥰❤️ I really like those photography videos where they intersplice the pictures with the video footage so I tried doing that with my own video 😋
See it as motivation instead, see japan as a goal as i do. Fight for what you want just as i am fighting for what i want, once i have reached japan and gone on exchange there i will be at peace and i might even find true happiness
Back again a year later to say that after 4 years of postponement, I’m finally heading to Japan June-July 2023. I had to rely on this video and others from time to time to keep my goal in sight, but ultimately it payed off. I just wanted to say thank you for this video once again. You really captured Japan well. Also, what’s the song that plays when you go see the fireworks and also the second song?
Happy for you that you hit your goal! Sorry I made this video like two years ago (almost 3??) so i don't remember the name of the music -- have fun in jp!
I’m super late but I’m applying to the very same YFU program for this summer. i wasn’t able to do a full year bc I’m in multiple academies for my school and I’d have lost everything I was working towards. It makes me rlly disappointed esp cause everyone talks abt how they regret going for such a short period! But hey, it’s better than nothing right? Was your exchange particularly hard bc you only went for a summer, like was making friends harder? Did you manage to keep in contact with them? Also, any advice for the interview? I just submitted my application and am now waiting on more information!
I’ve been thinking about studying abroad in Japan but it seems like such an impossible thing lol (especially now with the pandemic) how where you able to study abroad? What program did you go with? Sorry if it’s too personal of a question :v
No its not too personal dw! I went with this famous nonprofit group YFU, or youth for understanding, but there are tons of other ones. I did the six week summer one, but honestly I regret not doing a full year because that way you will actually be able to speak and become fully emerged in the culture. If you are in college/uni I’m sure that there are programs offered in the college, but my high school didn’t offer anything so I had to find out about it myself🤧😬 I want to study abroad again so badly too 🥲🥲🥲
@@Neeintje same my high school doesn’t offer anything so I’m trying to find programs myself, and thank you I’ll definitely look into YFU! Also was it expensive? I wanna go but-as a junior in hs-I don’t have much money to spend :,)
@@wemi1912 I also went my summer of junior year before the world caught on fire -- There are scholarships for financial aid and merit, I got a financial aid one which gave me 50% off, so my family ended up paying $2-3000 for six weeks. This other boy in my group got a full ride scholarship tho :0 That might seem expensive but it is nothing compared to those bougie ones where its the same price for only two weeks and you are just shuttled around in a bus and don't actually get the experience of living there, that's why I think that a year's exchange is worth it more financially and personally !! best of luck also you can try looking at the japan conciliate website :))
@@wemi1912 omg what year are you right now? I wanted to go as a Junior in high school too! I am guessing if I don't get all straight A's for sophomore and junior year, then my parents won't consider just based on how they are. right now I am in my freshmen year, so the year I want to go is 2023.
hi!! Do u choose how many weeks u want to go? Or do they give u a set amount of weeks? i know summer programs range from 3-8 weeks but I want to go for as long as possible!! :D loved the video
hiii, i don’t want to come off annoying or anything, but ive been stressing over applying for this whole cultural exchange thingy and i want to apply for YFU. im kind of confused on the whole application process and how to apply for a scholarship because my family is pretty poor but ive wanted to do this forever 😭 i was wondering if you could give a brief explanation of how to apply? if im asking for too much it’s okay! i feel like im probably too late anyways
You should probably start with looking around on their website and making an account with them first! All of the info is on the website and I’m pretty sure they have online representatives you can call or text with ! Best of luck sorry I don’t know anything more because I don’t work for them and I haven’t gone through this process in like 2 years lolol
(just for clarification) in going later this year during june but thank you so much for posting this, it inspired me to at least try and by some crazy miracle, I was accepted!
OMYGOODNESS I LOVED THIS VLOG!!!! I really want to go abroad to Japan! What was your favorite part if you don't mind me asking? And also was the host family nice? Sry for all the questions I get excited 🤭
