● In today's video you'll see a sound comparison between Need For Speed Payback's exhaust sounds vs. real life. I'll be comparing 6 cars; The BMW X6M, Ford Focus RS MK3, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, Porsche Cayman GT4, Mercedes AMG GT-S and the Audi R8 V10 Plus.

Despite the rather mixed reception of NFS Payback, I have to admit the game has nailed it in terms of engine sounds. :)
I've been wondering... what is wrong with the Payback? I only played it for a short time on my friend's laptop, so I really cannot tell.
@@FAT8893Physics most players hates this brake to drift and upgrading system is with microtransactions. You cant perfect upgrade a car without spending 200+ tokens. And the it doesnt have free roam cops only from bait crates. And Ghost cant balance the cars. How Beetle, 911 RSR and BMW M3 E30 are competible handling then Regera. Fun fact loves to hide the grip physics. And maybe next NFS will be getting another brake to drift improved... But how much there werent too much difference from 2015 to Payback.
I mean how old cars are as fast a Regera not in top speed in handling even they have better...
NFS always had great sounds
Must admit nfs always has the best sounding tbh I enjoyed payback still play it time to time Forza not as realistic engine wise or any other racer nfs always nails the engine
Need For Speed has the best engine sounds of any racing game. They are the most accurate to real life sounds.

Miguel Relvas You say “racing simulators” then you mention “GT Sport.” GTS is not a simulator of any kind. Sorry to disappoint you.
@@wheelspin6178 I am aware that there are more realistic racing simulators, such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa and so on, so you don't need to come here with that "know-all" attitude.
Regardless of your opinion, Gran Turismo is and has always been a racing simulator, so I'm not wrong here.
I was only using GT Sport as an example because the Gran Turismo franchise isn't known for its remarkable engine sounds and it could be vastly improved, as it is easily beaten by even an arcade racing game like NFS Payback.
Miguel Relvas It was never a racing simulator. It was nostalgic and over hyped and had a slogan “The Real Driving Simulator” even though everyone with some experience and common sense knows that isn’t the case. So no, it isn’t and never was.

NFS always has the best engine sound just look at NFS MW 2012 compared to FH3/4

MW 2012 isn't that heavier neither, just bad hardware optimization like old nfs's.. but they disappointed me by calling it most wanted without the most wanted "style" in it..there are only races, i would have prefered some more cinematic about the history and all. Btw the black list races start cinematic are sick as fuck!
But if i must be honest it's the only need for speed i played for like 300+ hours and still having fun for few hours when i get bored of other games.

EA had better mimicking sounds on mobile game REAL RACING 3, the sounds are more accurate than NEED FOR SPEED.

What? The in-game sound is too raspy and flat. Real car sounds much smoother.
I got both forza horizon 4 and need for speed. I prefer need for speed for the realistic cars and sounds. And tunnels

I think 4 cylinders tend to sound better in games than in real life but They have hard time recreating engines with more cylinders because in game the sound is like it's coming from a cheap cellphone speakers.

Wow i'm impressed. The graphics and sounds on REAL LIFE is so realistic. REAL LIFE makes NFS Payback seem like a game from the last console generation.
The developer record the real car sound and put it into the game instead of making artificial sound like other games. That why it sound similar.

GoatGuide that is actually how it works. They record the sound, and use hundreds of samples to get it just right for the rpm’s going up
Just add the dump valve and the Payback's Cayman sounds like Brian's R34.
The AMG GTS and the R8 are a little off, but with the cayman they nailed it. Nice vid !

@@magstheonlyone By "as close as it will get" is that it honestly cannot be better then that. I have yet to find a game that does it better and no i have seen alot of racing games and heard alot of car sounds from those games and i don't think they are better. If you or anyone else thinks so then whatever that's fine but to me it's meh...
@@kevinfortin8240 My only complain is the backfire of both of the cars. It will be a lot better if the backfire sound was more dramatic. But agree, can't get any better.
@@magstheonlyone I guess they can be more dramatic, the funny part is i saw a video of nfs payback with the bmw m5 making crazy amount of crackles and it was so cool. I saw a comment then after talking about how he didn't like it, it was too dramatic and weird. I guess it's just what you get with different opinions. It's your worst enemy when it comes to certain things because you can never get it right then, since everyone is different and alot of people have different thoughts on a certain topic.

Hmm i notice that irl sounds sound more, aggressive and has more tone. But the sounds are pretty accurate as fuck
They are using the real sounds but want them to sound more alive than being quite to noisy
Red line on every car at 6000RPM and they all can spit flames like fucking dragons... :D
its almost 100percent accurate for me because in real life theirs a roof or a camera that can change the actual sound car

Focus RS MK3 - 7.5/10 not bad tbh
Evo 9 - 8/10 close but needs a bit deeper note
Cayman GT4 - 8/10
AMG GT - 8.5/10 really nice sound just needs a bit deeper note to it
R8 V10 - 9/10 almost spot on!
Verdict: Pretty good if not accounting the X6M Mistake....
They sound a bit too flat, maybe that is why the X6 has the V8 'background sound' missing

The engine sounds are okay, but in general the driving sounds are dry. I mean, if you drive on asphalt, this normally also makes a sound. The wind sounds while driving are also pretty lousy (too quiet and synthetic). I also miss reverb fx.

i think in the comparation of aceleration in the real life you might need to keep in the aire while the car acelerates, because the sound is different from the distance, sorry my bad english
