Never used a line, recently bought some Callaway tri-line balls to see if it helps with hitting the ball out of the middle of my putter. Highlighted issue from my putter lesson... great video, thank you.

Good disclaimer at the start! I don’t like using the line because I find I’m always second guessing it when I stand over the ball. Using that machine would be amazing, but no I have not ever used one. Glad you still have this content Dan!

I have used SAM and it is super cool and helpful! And I do use a line always, I feel it lets me just focus on pace and not alignment when I'm over the putt.

I use the sharpie line also on the ball but now have a spider tour with no line. I've found my putting improved hugely from 10 feet in. Not sure how but it works but it does 😉👍

Dan, thanks for the video. This has been a bit of a hot topic on my Puttout mat for the last four weeks. I tried the new TP5 Ricky Fowler ball and really could not see anything once it started rolling, then moved on to 2 parallel lines outside the centre marking which was OK ish. Best for me was a solid line all the way around, I could clearly see the path the ball took and also why and when I was missing. Maybe it's a eye thing and we are all different, now I am in my mid 60's and need glasses for reading etc I suppose I just need the contrast that a single line produces. Stay safe !

I use the stamped arrow lines on my Titleist Tour softs - helps with the alignment and setting the ball off on the right path initially - pace and feel are all important too!! Liking the videos Dan

I’ve very recently been using a line and it has made a world of difference. Been a terrible putter for a long time and it has become obvious that where my body told me I was aiming was not, in fact, where I was aiming. Now I can ignore what my internal sense of direction is telling me and just trust what I was seeing from behind the ball. Adds a grand total of about 15 seconds to my play time per hole, maybe less if you consider I’m taking fewer putts.

I don't use a line and absolutely hate being in the group behind a person that does use the line. I have seen those that use the line take minutes to get it setup (going back and forth from manipulating the ball then look at it from behind and readjusting the line all over again)!

    Good vid again, Dan.
I’m an intermittent line user. I should really commit to it but I do have commitment issues and that’s another story.
Yes. I have used Sam Lab.
I was yipping, went for a lesson, pro sorted that out before using the kit.
My putting was so poor though, that the numbers coming out were showing a lot of dispersal.
Since then however I had a great winter with my putting.
I would like another session and possibly get fitted for a putter, however that does seem silly money.
    Cheers, Dan. Stay safe.

I use a line for aim and strike but since pace and aim are linked I generally just practice pace most of the time and use the line for only part of practice. I also only use the line under about 10 feet. Nice vid dan

I use a sharpie line. I then use the putter by holding it up and lining the edge of the shaft to the line on the ball through to the cup to make sure it's lined up to my starting point.

Started using a line last summer and trying to work from the hole back to the ball, so once lined up, I am just trying to get the ball rolling straight. I can also see if the ball slides too far during that first 18 inches or starts rolling. To me, it's part alignment and part training aid.

  • @ianwhite9147

Good video. I have always used a line on the ball when putting. I have an Odyssey 2 ball putter. Putting generally is a weak part of my game. Over the past couple of weeks I have been practicing my putting a lot and have drawn a line through the centre of the '2 balls' on the putter, and this certainly seems to help ensure the ball is lined up to the target, and the clubface is square to target. It also helps to ensure I am striking the ball with the centre of the clubface. I have also had a tendency to 'pull' my putts left, and have found that the best way to avoid this is to 'soften' my hands and try to have a more relaxed stroke.

Hi Dan, I'm currently using Titleist Trufeel which comes with lines stamped on, the lines are red and stand out and I find easier to align with my putter, moving on to your putting, I see you are left below right as am I, may I offer a tip, move your ball position forward to just inside your left foot, I find it squares the body up, shoulders, hips, knees and feet and it also produces a better top spin type roll, Hope that helps, keep banging out the videos out I've got loads of time to watch them.

I use the branding line mostly.. but some times they are not straight .. I find it amusing that when standing over the ball that has been lined up it often doesn’t seem aligned to where I thought I was aiming .. had to learn to trust the sighted line-up.

Does having that gadget on your putter shaft change the feel? I would think that rotating the putter from slightly open to more square would require more effort with the gadget. It may be that when you putt without the gadget but with the line, your putter face is closer to square at impact than it is when you putt with the gadget attached.

I have during a putter fitting. It was very informative and ironically it said the putter I was using was the right one which was cool. Now I just have different versions of the same model in case I want to switch something up. Cause you know, it’s the putter’s fault not mine. So if the silver one starts missing, out comes the black one! 😂

How much weight does the sender unit add to your putter? Never been a fan of lines on the ball, all between the ears , I think. All down to confidence with the putter IMO. For me, all down to pace and green reading, and there is another couple of vlogs in there, I’m sure.

I don't know of anyone around me that has this device. As for the line, I don't use one. I put the ball with nothing showing on top, align my putter to the path, center the ball, look at the hole and make the stroke letting the ball just get in the way. I don't consider myself a great putter, but this method seems to work the best for me. Your results may vary. JM2C

  • @gtsgolf9410
    @gtsgolf9410 4 роки тому +1

phew, as someone who uses a line glad to see the result was line was better. However the line on that ball was very short so for me there would be a disconnect between the line and the putter face, I use a line half the ball in length so the line meets the putter face and I can use the line on the putter to match up. Perhaps you should see if that resolves the open face at address?

  • @markl577

I've tried putting a line on the ball but it just seems to take the intuitiveness out of it for me, too mechanical almost. I find standing back & focususing on small a aim point just ahead of the ball to be as good. Each to his own though. 👍🏻

I did use the line all the time but found I was concentrating too much and tightening up on the swing. Changed to no line and went by feel and started draining the putts again. Always practice both methods though because we all now that old feeling of hitting the sweet shots and then loosing that precious feeling. Always good to have a back up .Great work Dan, Just a quick question on the new balls. Do you think Callaway are happy that another company has ripped off their three line markings on the golf ball.

  • @johnhey9642

I tried with and without the line. I putt better with no line. When using a line it feels way too mechanical and tight instead of easy and natural.
I have been on a putt lab and was struck by how similar the information is to my iPing app. This is the app that Ping uses for putter fittings. It's free on line. You just have to have a harness for your phone which you apply to the shaft similar to how the sensor on the lab works. For anyone serious about seeing what is going on with their putting, I highly recommend it.

Just a thought Dan. Is your putter open at address because that's what looks square to you? Or because you want it open? Manipulating the face would probably only happen if your brain knew the putter was set way open. As a low handicapper I struggle a great deal with alignment of putter at address. And when i think the putter is not square I get all kinds of weird strokes as my brains response. I've had that problem too. When you line the ball up, you know that line is true. Right? Simple physics. If that line is correct, and then when you're over the ball and you see a different line, your eyes are incorrect. Simply find out an eyeline where your eyeline sees what the ball sees. Just give it a try and see what happens.

Duncan Kim I filmed this video on Friday 20th March and I was sent home from the Club on Tuesday 24th March. Thanks for your concern Duncan however be assured I’m not in the business of trying to work outside the law or put anyone in a position where they could get injured or fall ill. I still have a number of videos that I have stored up that we or I filmed before the lockdown. I will be releasing these videos over the next few weeks.

@@DanHendriksenGolf Relieve to hear that. In my defence, your beginning comment was not clear when it was filmed.
As a golf fan, I have been getting concern about golf community getting bad press lately as some of the people seem to be blinded by the desire to play golf and forget that we have obligations to follow the rules, regardless of whether we believe the rules are necessary/effective or not. They are there to protect others or intend to protect others at the least.
Being golf probably the only self regulated sports - you would have thought people who play golf respect rules more than others.
Be safe and I am looking forward to more contents from you.

the Question is should you be golf golf stuff on the course as we cant, personally i think that responsible human beings should be playing, i truly believe this government have made so many mistakes that they will be found out and in real trouble for all the lies they"ve spewed out in the past 2 months, I voted for this lot and theyre full of shit! anyway, my club will probably go bust along with many others because of their inability to recognise the whole picture, stay well Dan, and your family . regards

Beach Fraser I think your right on Clubs going under during these tough times. Some Clubs were living life hand to mouth going into this so will be hard to manage. Sad times

Can't stand using a line and can't stand it when I'm playing with someone who uses one. It's so slow and time consuming standing around watching them line the fuckin thing up all the time. It's painful! Can we please just go back to when people would just step up and hit it, instead of mucking around with all this rubbish!
