    Another beautiful day in the bay.

    This is truly a "top five" youtube channel!

    No, please don’t kill it. Reduce tile costs using the mod, and your services are still 100%. Need to lower them to between 70%-80%. Love Pegasas Bay! Would love to see you finish it. Thanks.

    I think you should continue Pengasus Bay. Either by trying the 529 tiles method or simply turning off tile upkeep. You started this build before all these changes and it still seems like they have some tweaking to do. I think waiting for those tweaks before starting a new city would be beneficial. Either way, I’m here to support whatever decision you make. Love your content.

    I feel like your more artistic style actually has made the bay look more realistic than a lot of other builds I've seen. Everything isn't so stacked and grid centric, instead its all very organic and spaced out. Keep doing your thing! It's another beautiful day in the bay.

    I would be for turning off the tile expense and enjoying the finished product. With the tile upkeep you just can’t continue this way. It may be a small thing to some people, but I don’t enjoy seeing all the markers everywhere you’ve turned off services. So, my vote, turn off the tile upkeep and finish this beautiful city.

    Forget tile upkeep. This channel should not be “playing the game”. It should be about sculpting a beautiful city and maximizing creativity over fiscal responsibility. Use your imagination to repurpose buildings, like you did at the sports complex. If there is an option to go infinite money and no tile up keep, you should do it.

    Maybe it would be simpler to just torn off tile upkeep and continue building the city. The city was not built with this feature in mind, so it's fair to turn it off.

    I really enjoy the way you build - the artistry of your style. I really appreciate that you've been completely vanilla so far. As an XBox player for CS1 it always felt hard to get cities to look like creators did with mods. I'd vote for turning off the money altogether so that you can keep using the service buildings the way you want to create the art.

    I can’t believe it’s only been about 6-7 months of me subscribing and following you, but you quickly become one of the best pure city builders on this platform imo. With that being said, IDC what you do, I’ll be here every Tuesday 9ish EST ready to watch.

    1) Demolish the buildings, don't deactivate them. There's no reason to eat the upkeep for something that does nothing for you. Cumulatively those 20K fees can be a lot
    2) reset the tiles, and purchase only those with infrastructure in them. Tiles with just a passing road will eat your profits. Try and build where you can, empty space is lost revenue.
    3) set the tile upkeep at ~40%. Biffa did that and it seems to be viable

    I very much enjoy watching you play and your commentary along with your play. If you/we decide to continue with this series then a ton more people and resource extraction are what you would need to fix the budget. Utilizing more of the tiles that you are paying for would offset the tile service fees. I look forward to whatever decision you/we make and where we go from here. As I have stated before I would love to see you start a modded built so you could really showcase your decorations skills. My 2 cents as it were for whatever its worth. Have a great morning, afternoon, evening and night and thank you for all you provide to us and for us.

    Although i would always like to see more and new cities i have a few point that could really help this one. And if you would start a new city it would take a bit before you would be finacially free enough to do bigger projects (unless playing with unlocked map and/or unlimited money)
    1) Relocking and buying the tiles could really help, you have a ton of tiles you dont need, especially at the edges of the map and in the ocean. And you can always change the upkeep cost with the mod. Also you could just use Anarchy mod when building roads and infrastructure on the whole map, you dont need to unlock those tiles, just to run a country road across the whole map.
    2) it feels like you dont have a lot of industry (and offices) compared to the size of the city, maybe something like a big industrial port build could help a lot in additional taxes. I would also look at your unemployment also adding a ton of the specialized industries wherever there are resources form them would help. you could export a lot more of those.
    3) i would keep offices around 10% tax they are less resilient than other industry and you could find that a lot of those buildings could be empty later.
    4) dont focus on residential demand it will always be almost infinite (look at unemployment and other factors.)

    Keep developing Pengasas Bay we all want to see it expand and the amount of time and detail that's gone into it is amazing and I will love to see more of this beautiful city and I'm thinking if you add more industry and even possibly specialised industry it could possibly save the city as would have more goods to export just like the old days of the industrial revolution where cities produced so much goods they were able to survive from it and of course not forgetting the workers who work those hard jobs in keeping the cities alive. What I'm saying is don't give up and keep at it Pengasas Bay will survive.😊

    Thanks for asking our opinion. I'd like to see Pengasas Bay finished, but realistically how many episodes would it take to make it sustainable city, even if you switched off tile upkeep? You thought about 40 epidodes might do it. And whilst you and we love what you've built so far, it's going to take a bit of effort to rejig things, but... That could be time well spent, if you and we enjoy that process. So, how do we make that enjoyable for us both. Your priorities are important too. Me, I can't play the game, and watch just to admire the building and the creativity. So for myself, I would start a new build. You would have to deal with the game as it now is anyway, and a fresh build might be the best learning curve. But I would consult more with City Planner Plays, before making your mind up.

    Hey!!! Been watching your channel since the underwater tunnel episode. Love this series for the most part and would love to see you finish it up as there are those giant sections left. I think a big issue, as you touched on, is that the city is very spread out. It makes for a unique look but the new economy doesn’t seem to like that lol. You should just play with unlimited money as the tile upkeep is a garbage mechanic imo, and I’d love to see you start a new city in a different style after you finish this one. Looking forward to watching more!!

    I’m of two minds about it. While, I’m attached and would like to see how you would or could fix the city; I’m not sure that’s practical or even useful to the growth of the channel. Starting a new city while disappointing at first should lead to an even better experience. Aside from the fact that the patch(economy 2.0) was more of a paradigm shift of functionality; you’ve learned quite a bit since starting the city. Go back and look at the first districts you built and compare them to what you do now! Opportunities abound my friend. Don’t be afraid to take them.

    Hey city sculptor. I hear you on this patch but I would say keep going a few more episodes. I’m running into similar issues as you especially since I’ve used service buildings to add chunk and aesthetic as well. I’ve listed some ideas I might employ in Pine Harbor County below as “food for thought” for you. No idea is they will even work or not 🤷🏼‍♀️
    1) rezone medium & high density residential to low as I believe the skylines wiki states low generates more tax income. Once the economy is balanced you can always zone higher more organically based on the new mechanics
    2) put the game on “easy mode” the patch notes state you can alleviate the hemorrhage with a check box that doesn’t charge as high for imports. My blind eyes can’t find this check box yet but the patch notes did mentioned it.
    3) zone more jobs. I don’t know what the unemployment is in the Bay is but mine has spiked to 40% so I’ve been trying to zone more office and industry. During this I did notice a bug where office buildings employ 5/5 employees. If you destroy the building it’ll reset but often as it levels go back to 5/5 again. You could always run a round of “whack the growable” between episodes to reset the employee marker if you have high unemployment. It’s a bandaid to the problem however until they patch that bug.
    Okay I’ve written a huge paragraph and I apologize for that but whatever you decide, new city or Pengasis, please know I look forward to watching and supporting your channel 😊

    Move on to the next city - repurposing the stock buildings for aesthetical purposes was nice for design - this will give you an opportunity to use some of the mods so you can select buildings you want to use without being burdened by the purchase and upkeep costs. As a professional city planner, I enjoy watching your content.

  • @mrbranch9511
    @mrbranch9511 7 днів тому

    Pleasure to really meet you.
    Just like me you didn't seem to notice early enough that there is a huge bug in the economy 2.0, causing all your office companies to have left your city. Not only causing huge unemployment, but also in a lot of money loss. Turning your services off is peanuts compared to it, altough I told you several times to get rid of those useless parking lots 😅
    This is perhaps the biggest bug I have ever seen in any game. And you know what Paradox announced: we are going on a holiday first. So perhaps there will be a solution in September. Unbelievable.
    So now there are two options: 1) replace all office by commercial or stop playing until September. I think I'll do the latter. But for you as a content creator, this must be a nightmare.

    Honestly if you are having to decide whether or not to continue this series based on service and tile upkeep, then I say let’s look at different options in order to keep it going.
    Holding true to the no mods theme then do not use a mod to fix this. What I offer up as a solution is to download assets that still hold the decorative elements but were made specifically to counteract the upkeep issue. Meaning, they are identical to what you placed but don’t have the ridiculous upkeep cost.
    This will still keep you true to the no mods theme AND won’t change the look or feel of what you’ve already created. There are tons of service assets on the workshop.

    Ultimately it’s up to you if you want to move to a different city. I do really love this one, but if it’s going to need a full butchering to get up to 2.0 standards it might not be worth it since it’s so beautiful now.
    If you do keep on this one, you could replace some of the tall office buildings in downtown (if they're empty) with the tall residential towers to semi-adjust the population. Also reducing your services percentage, and just turning off the tile upkeep. I understand why they added that feature, but if you aren’t playing for difficulty and just play to build it kind of ruins it.

  • @Qualiall1
    @Qualiall1 9 днів тому

    I play with infinite money and all things unlocked-and the patch completely broke my game-not due to mods, but there were several horrid bugs introduced-one is, if you delete residential buildings (or they burn down, or whatever) the people who lived there become homeless-forever-this has a knock down effect which makes it so you no longer have residential demand. The other big one is, once your office buildings reach max level, it will downsize the employment to a mere 5 people-which causes all sorts of issues as well. So you, playing with money might be worse off because of these.
    CO is aware of the bugs, but they say unlikely to be fixed until everyone is back in the office from summer lock

  • @simrantoor85

    I would turn off tile upkeep because the build plan is too far into being an American suburban sprawl, and maybe downsizing some buildings would help too. One need one police headquarters and large firehouse. Obviously there are more parks and such that the game mechanics don’t like but are useful in the city’s design. If anything I’d go with a new city, but please build that area across from downtown first, I’ve been looking forward to that.

  • @stefanschellings
    @stefanschellings 9 днів тому +2

    I think your focus on "Top 5" aesthetic builds and playing as vanilla as possible are the main usp's of this series.
    Since Economy 2.0 changes the game so much, you will have to find a new equilibrium. I think reducing tile upkeep or playing with unlimited money would take away all possible challenge.
    Maybe learn the ropes of how to build and balance the budget with a new city and then revisit Pengasas Bay later for a 'season 2'.

    Good video brother, good positive outlook. That bottom line is rough. You could use the 529 mod to reduce the % of the tile cost. Increasing the residential population is going to bring more tax revenue in. A new series would be perfectly fine too, though. With some experience under your belt and new outlooks and this new update it would be a good point to start another new experience Wishing all the best and will look for that pole to come out

    Just turn off tile upkeep; it's a cheap, brute-force difficulty increase. I never use "easy" mode in any game and I turned it off almost immediately. It makes no sense in the game and forces an unrealistic density that would ruin Pengasas Bay and could quite possibly force you to change the way you build entirely.
    Heck, turn on unlimited money while you're at it. I can't speak for everyone but I watch your channel for your banter and artistic creativity, not for tips or ideas to "get better" at the game.

    I think there are only one option, start a new city. I say this because the way you build before the 2.0 update was beautiful but not feasible going forward. I don't want a million buildings turned off and I don't want you to remove them and have to redo areas over. That still doesn't even solve the problem. I think this version of Cities is a new version of the game like going from Cities 1 to Cities 2. Time to restart in my opinion. Now you know what you can and can't do with the restraints of the new game.
